Buying S5 might be a great option, if u expect BTC to go up. If this happens S5 maintenance ll go down and S5 ll become a very cool option to make some money.
I think this might be the case.

S7 s way too expensive, I agree.

And lets not forget the S4 and S3 too. If the BTC price keeps rising the maintenance fee will be less and less important and thus creating great leverage for S3 and S4 price jump.

S2/UMISOO is profitable again with the increase in BTC value.
I still have 1TH, does it activate again, or is there a way to simply get rid of it without redeeming it, etc?
Don't want it to negatively effect my balance of S5 and S7 earnings.

Well, if the price continues rising, S5 s going to be a good buy again.
But dont forget price increase attracts a lot of new miners/farms/chips.

S7 is overpriced , so S5 was a good buy already 3 weeks ago . Will be until price reach 0.0009-0.001 .

you really think it'll bounce back that high?

So hipoteticly the guy had 2fa on but no pin configured in the app; his user pass was fished on a compromised site and the thief used the app to steal the money; that makes sense?

I think you have to set a pin when making a new account, not sure but its used on the market place for sure and using the app to withdraw with, that said they "might" only ask for the 2fa if your ip address changes much like Blizzard Entertainment does with there own 2fa solution, its only asked for if you format your computer /change your ip address.

I think the 2fa is only used when withdrawing from the web site the APP used by phones on the other hand use secret pin to withdraw the 2fa is never used using phone/ changing wallet address (which it really should) nor is it used to log onto the web site nor used to change the pin.. (seems kinda useless imo)

Is anyone having unathorised withdrawals from hashnest with 2fa on?

There is one post complaining on the hashnest forums... Just curious if thats one case or there are others

Source
https://forum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/2287

This is concerning and should spark some debate; if money is stolen with 2fa on who is to blame? And why there is no comment on hashnest over this?

I feel a little scare on investing somewere where people report stolen money with all security features on.

2015-10-15 01:25:33   0.00342202   XX.XXX   BTC   Contract   Paid back 201509110242365461023852#Block378870

S5 vs S7 Profitability - You heard it here first.

For everybody panic selling their S5 hash, I welcome you to put together some simple maths on the profitability between S5 and S7 right now.

Let's assume that you have 10 Bitcoin that you want to invest in Hashnest, and you're torn between S5 and S7. Here's the maths:

S7 Profitability

With 10 bitcoins, you'll be able to buy 5195 GH/s at the current price of 0.00192468.

Those 5195 GH/s will earn you 0.0429617 BTC per day, assuming 100% luck.

You'll be charged 0.01228772 maintenance per day.

Leaving you with a total PER DAY profit of 0.03067398 per day.

S5 Profitability

With 10 bitcoins, you'll be able to buy 13967 GH/s at the current price of 0.00071593.

Those 13967 GH/s will earn you 0.11550452 BTC per day, assuming 100% luck.

You'll be charged 0.06697278 maintenance per day.

Leaving you with a total PER DAY profit of 0.04853174 per day.

TLDR:

With 10 Bitcoins, buying S5 at today's rate will earn you 0.04853174 per day.

With 10 Bitcoins, buying S7 at today's rate will earn you 0.03067398 per day.

also try to calculate badluck, with S7 if antpool findblock eithin 2 hours it still positive, what happe in s5, itll negative,

True, but can't look at it block to block, antpool is big enough that look at luck on a weekly basis and it will always hover around 99-101

If your day trading hash, then block to block maybe important to you.

So much words when you can write simply:
  • S7: 0.30% daily, ROI=329 days
  • S5: 0.49% daily, ROI=206 days
I've been gone a while, but looks like some people finally realized the S5 was/is a better deal than the S7 for now!  Had some S5 sell orders hit at .00079 over the weekend for some quick flips, and it still looks attractive I will be buying S5 under .00070 this next week.
