Do not order from them, there are many horror stories

I ordered 2 of the big bit rigs in the first round. (I got lucky, and I'm pretty sure I inadvertently exploited a flaw in their shopping cart to cut in line, but that's another story) They were shipped within the projected time frame, and arrived a few (agonizing) days later (I think it was just under a week). I took half a day off work to be sure and be at home when they landed, and the boxes were opened, and there was great joy. I got them set up and running on my dining room table, and they worked (at least for Scrypt only) out of the box. Granted, the wiibox controllers and their interface are really rather awful, but that's being taken care of by the simple expedient of replacing them with Raspberry Pi's running an open source OS of Hashra's own devising (or firmware, or whatever you want to call it; hell, you can call it a cupcake for all I care) Anyway, I've been emailing back and forth with a fellow there named Simon, (well, I assume he's a fellow, but what can one really know from a first name in an email. He could be a girl, or a damned koala bear or a magical 1964 Chevy carburetor with email powers for all I know or care) and he's(?) been very forthcoming about what's going on on their end of things, and what they're doing about the various inevitable issues with the first few rounds of an endeavor such as theirs. It took me a while to all the gridseed units running dualley style, but I did eventually get them all pointed the same directions. The bottom line is this. I ordered them, they were shipped and arrived, and they work. There are some inconveniences, sure, (Chinese? I've got to learn goddamned Chinese to make these things go?!?!!!) but that's to be expected in the first release of anything; if you want something more polished, then you should wait a version or two for the kinks to get worked out.

Hashra maybe bit off a bit more than they could chew at first, but now they've got more staff, and they're working their collective asses off to address the issues that have come up. As for why they're not posting here, well, at a guess I would say it's because they're too busy working on the issues to post about how they're working on the issues. Were I in their shoes, and found myself presented with a choice between addressing the issues, and posting about how I was working on the issues so people felt all nice and comforted, I'd spend my time making it work right, and let people gripe their little hearts out. It's the age-old conflict between customer service and tech support. With only so much in terms of available resources in terms of brains and bodies, what percentage do you want to be working on the problem, and what percentage do you want talking to the people who are yelling about the problem? Personally, I'd be cranky if they were spending time on the customer service side, because that would mean they were spending less time actually making it work.

I've got much love for Hashra at the moment, and I've even gone so far as to take out a loan against my house to help pay for 4 more of their BigBit doohickeys. Yep, I'm either an damned idiot or a damned genius, but the only way to know which is to wait and see how this works out.

Anyway, the folks at Hashra are not running a scam. They maybe bit off more than they could chew at first, but their stuff works, and they're addressing the issues as well as can be expected. That's the bottom, bottom line, I guess.

PS- If anyone's interested, I'll put together another post with the juicy details of the mini data center I've built in my house for these things, and what I've done to handle their power requirements and the heat (wow, the heat) without making my central AC bawl like a little bitch with a skinned knee.

Hello again,

As far as an update goes for my own dilemma is that now DHL reports that they have picked up my shipment.

So... its coming my way now.

While I have had my tracking number since the 10th.. absolutely zero movement or progress reporting through DHL.

I've emailed Hashra to ask if my order has even left the building yet, and if not to cancel/refund immediately as the turn around time regarding Hashra is unacceptable.

I ordered from Zoomhash yesterday and already have product in route to me the VERY NEXT DAY... and wait for it... a BETTER PRICE point.

Not satisfied with Hashra at all and would caution anyone debating whether or not to do business with them to look at other options first.

The fancy email a lot of us received regarding gridseed products offered by Hashra on 23 Feb made it seem like this operation was ready for a flux or orders and able to get things out to customers much faster.. even though there was a 7-14 day disclaimer.

Simon (Hashra)

I am having nothing but problems with my Gridseed + Wiibox. Have tried with 3 different wiiboxes and 5+ miners and the wiibox just won't recognize the miners.

I plugged everything in as I am supposed to (I think).

Wiibox on LAN reachable through browser at 192.168.0.x
Wiibox power plugged into micro USB
USB-Hub plugged into wiibox USB
Between 1-5 miners plugged into USB hub, powered and running

The wiibox admin page just keeps saying 'no equipment' (in chinese).

Where is the English guide you promised? What can I do if ALL my wiibox controllers are just.. not working?

I have emailed several times with no response in the last week.

Status update (Latest in Bold):
2/23/14-Ordered 6MH/S kit w/ accessories ($4,980 shipped) via CC (order #241)
2/25/14-I checked my credit card balance and the payment has been processed on my end.  There was also an additional $49.89 "international service fee" which I assume is a Visa thing. I sent an email requesting an estimated shipping date.
2/25/14-Got a friendly reply that reiterated the 7 day credit card policy.  They also confirmed that they would send a tracking number as soon as it shipped.  I replied to their message saying they should start a new thread instead of using this one.
2/26/14-Received another message agreeing that this thread isn't the best place for business.  Simon says they are working on setting up an official thread pretty soon.  He finished up with an apology about the credit card wait time (not that I was complaining) and said that if I had any questions, to get in touch with him.
3/2/14-It has now been 7 days since I placed my order.  I sent a message yesterday (3/2) asking for the tracking number.  No reply yet as of today (3/3).
3/4/14-No replies yet, so I sent another email to Simon asking for a tracking number.  I'm going to try the squeaky wheel approach.  Just received an email from Simon verifying my CC payment. He said, "Your current estimated shipping out date for your units is between the 9th March - 16th March. I can tell you that it will most likely be closer to the first of those two dates."
3/9/14-It has now been 14 days since I placed my order and I still do not have a tracking number.  I was under the impression that Hashra was going to have a very strong supply chain, but I am getting nervous and irritated again.  I really wish I had ordered through Zoomhash.  I'm sure I would have 20 miners working toward ROI instead of 0 miners (and also received a better price).
3/10/14-Emailed Hashra for a status update on my order.  No reply.
3/12/14-Emailed Hashra asking for a tracking number.  Reminded them that their FAQ page says, "Expected maximum amount of time from any payment verification date to arrival of Miner is 14 days."  I am growing tired of the lack of transparency. My order status has been "Awaiting Fulfillment" for a very long time. It has been over a week since Simon emailed me to mention that my CC payment had been verified.  I'm getting close to cancelling my order.
3/13-14-Received the following email from Simon:
"Sorry for the long wait of your miners, we do promise that we always ship out within 14 days from when payment is verified and so far we have managed to stick to this promise.
I can assure you that your order is shipping out this weekend which is still within the 14 days from when your card payment was verified.
I'm sorry for the long wait and I understand how frustrating it is.
We were hoping to get all deliveries out sooner than we had expected but we were not prepared for the number of orders that we have had to fulfil on. This has obviously resulted on an impact on shipping out times taking longer than we had hoped for.
We are sorry for this.
We will obviously give you tracking number details for your delivery as soon as it has left us.
In the mean time if you do have any questions at all then please do get in touch.
Kind Regards
Simon Bright"

I send a private message to both users "StevenJ" and "HASHRA" asking them to reply to this thread, hopefully we'll get some updates from either of them soon..

also, there's this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416672.40 where people are more or less on the same situation...

Found my way to this thread, as I have been posting in the one mentioned by Krisse2

Same boat here... ordered on the 23 Feb (via BTC) expecting a speedy turnaround and more future orders with Hashra, and have been completely disappointed thus far with how slow things are moving on getting things shipped out and into my hands.

I could have waited and ordered from a verified US reseller at a lower price point this week and received my gear already.

Not impressed Hashra.

Edit:  I just placed an order with Zoomhash, hearing a lot of good things about them.. will see how it goes compared to Hashra

ok I take back what I wrote previously.. I googled a bit more about "Shipment information received" in DHLs system, and this simply means the seller (hashra) has sent them the waybill number, which is the one we've got in the mail. This DOES NOT mean the package is actually shipping anywhere, it's likely not even picked up yet..

Nice that your tracking number is showing in the DHL system, mine in not showing :-(

Yeah, but the sad thing is that that doesn't yet mean anything, I could have sent the number to them by myself, and it would show up there, since it just means they have the number, not the package.. So until it says "package picked up" with a time, there's really nothing to confirm yet about actual shipment..

My DHL tracking number is now in the DHL system :-) A ray of hope !

I'm disappointed that nobody from Hashra will email me back :-(

just a quick update, my tracking number is found on dhl system now, it just says "Shipment information received", but after all this waiting I'm really happy things are moving..

I just realized that the problem why this waiting has/is been so long is that it takes a week between any kind of update: hashra received my payment 28.2, status changed to Awaiting Shipment on 5.3, and today finally on 12.3 I can see that there's a package in DHLs system.. During this time I've seen group buys that have been cheaper than this, and of course many people who ordered from asiabtc (& others) on the same time have already got theirs (and running these on rasperry Pi's, which wasn't either possible on 24.2), and for some reason at this time the mining profits on many scypt coins are down (just as example on 24.2 clevermining.com had 0.01 BTC/day per MH/s, currently it's 0.00651) , Mt. Gox went bankcrupt and Satoshi Nakamoto was found, until we found out he's Dorian Nakamoto, and actually not found.. I guess I'm just saying that 3 weeks+ really is a _long_ time to wait miners, something I didn't worry about too much when ordering Smiley

Well thats bulls***

At least I feel like you shouldn't stick a tracking number on something when it hasn't even been picked up yet. *sigh*
