I've been using BTC for a while. I've been using it at exchanges, to trade altcoins and to order goods over the Internet, but I've never exchanged BTC with someone in front of me. At a store or between friends, or family. This despite having had long conversations about BTC with various kinds of people, and attending a few meetups.

Who has exchanged BTC F2F?

I have exchanged bitcoin face to face and not always is "perfect" becuase it is not just a sale but a conversation.
People ask how you earn them, what do you do etc but at the end you are getting cash which is the best part of course.

I suppose it isn't a perfect scenario if you're simply looking for a fiat fix but with bitcoin still such a new idea and a tiny proportion of the world using it, it is these conversations that will ultimately help bitcoin's adoption and growth the most.

Maybe even you can learn something=)

By talking with others in person yeah it is good for the bitcoin and its adoption and it's good to advertise the bitcoin itself.
But I try to sell as less as possible because we see how much has the bitcoin price reached recently.

I've exchanged bitcoin F2F with myfriend,
maybe because BTC is digital where you don't need to
meet in person with someone only to send BTC for fast transactions and non-refundable
Also make some deals, it is so easy transaction, it was my first time to use it face to face and looking forward to have more like that transaction.

I am not using this kind of method bitcoin exchange face to face.
Bitcoin is easy to buy in my country, their is an open store or
shops to buy bitcoin. Thus, this is also good exchanging bitcoin to
someone you know were its a safe transactions.

Me. I've got buddies at school who toss bitcoin between each other, as some take loans or quickly sell to buy lunch or some other thing when they're short on cash. It's actually quite a lucrative business if you have a good network of friends and have funds 24/7 Smiley

I simply know F2F exchange is a possibility and often more profitable, but I am yet to give it a try, because I have not really found a need to, as my online exchanges are doing just fine. Someday however, I hope to give it a try, though huge amounts are out of the question, except with people I know, should I settle for cash.

I had bought BTC from my friend face to face. I feel very much secured in this type of  transaction because you have no chance of loosing your money when dealing with some body you know.

Yes that's the pros of exchanging face to face but people like them are quite rare these days especially if its somebody that you know.  You can also find someone over the net and you will meet up somewhere near but I guess most people don't feel safe either that way

My country also has this exchange site where you can convert your bitcoins to your local currency. As of now we
have three of them and it is much secured doing transactions with them than doing it peer to peer but you will
have a higher chance of trading with high rates in peer to peer than them. It will be nice if each country has that
kind of service. If there are many bitcoin users there then it will most likely happen

Me too have'nt exchanged bitcoin ever face to face with anyone. And even you as a legendary member never did it then i am too far behind that even thinking about it as in my country people doesnt even know about bitcoin so face to face bitcoin exchange is not possible yet for me.

I also never did it but I have heard some good reviews from friend of mine that did it at localbitcoins, so I think they are okay and can be trusted.

Face to face bitcoin exchange is a good method but I don't have an opportunity in my country. In my country also many people don't know what is Bitcoin. And very few people use this bitcoin they stay far away from my place. So it's not possible for me. My friends also do gambling, but we have not exchanged any BTC.

If they don't know then let them know. But telling btc to complete strangers may sound a bit too much like you're

a member of some networking thing so if you will do it limit it to your friends and family. But you should know that

they will not always give a positive feedback so you should have a plan on how you will explain it to them.

yes i did that, but only with my freinds

Me too, I just trade with my friends or my brother. Usually it's easier. But I haven't really tried trading with anyone else besides my friends and family. But, I am afraid to personally deal with another person. It may feel awkward too. Also, another factor is that it's really hard to find someone who wants to trade face to face as the main purpose of bitcoins is anonymity which would not be achieved when we do face to face deals.

I have to say your points don't seem right.

why are you afraid to personally deal with another person? You never bought something for cash on the street, in a pub, ...? Safety is good in a public place, don't pay until you see a confirmation, take a watch-only wallet on your phone if you like.

Why 'awkward'? It's a nice way to meet, have a coffee and discuss bitcoin with a likeminded person.

'anonymity ...would not be achieved .. face to face' doesn't make sense either. Doing the transfer online is the least anonymous way to do it. There are records kept everywhere. Face to face means only the other guy sees your face and he needn't even know your name.

I had the opportunity to transfer bitcoin face to face with some friends of mine to shows them what bitcoin is and how easily we can transfer it to each other. It was strange for them to see this amazing piece of technology and I was happy to show the power of bitcoin. I encourage everyone to do this as it will be a different experience worth experiencing!
