In my place there are some people who are using bitcoin and maybe there will be more people but I do not know about them so till now I have not exchanged by bitcoins face to face and maybe in the future I will need to do that if someone provided it to me for to exchange with him.
It is up to you that you do not have much people in your area as you do not try to promote bitcoin in your area. You need to invite your friends and your family members to join bitcoins. Try to give some time to them to teach them that how bitcoin is adopted and what are the requirements for adopting bitcoins and tell them about legit places for keeping and using their bitcoins.

Nope... I haven't tried that, and I have no plan on trying to exchange my bitcoin face to face... Who knows, they are planning something to get your bitcoin from you, and mostly bitcoin users are scattered, in short they don't know each other that much, so its hard to trust...

I have a friend here in where I live who also has bitcoin, but I am not interested in meetings.. What's the use of internet and the fee that we pay each transaction if we still need to walk outside and consume gasoline and effort...

I would only do that if I will be transacting big amount, which I haven't done yet...  Smiley

I wish I could but unfortunately, there are no merchants in my town who are willing to accept bitcoins. I have informed my few friends about bitcoin but not sent them any bitcoin because I want them to earn their own bitcoins with their efforts. I am sure we will be using bitcoins soon in the future even on the local level and that day is not too far from now until then we have to use it online or store it in cold storage.

I think even your friend will not even know if you ever do bitcoin transactions with him if you're using a false identity
I want secrecy, so I would not do the transaction face to face with anyone

yes i did that, but only with my freinds

Me too, I just trade with my friends or my brother. Usually it's easier. But I haven't really tried trading with anyone else besides my friends and family. But, I am afraid to personally deal with another person. It may feel awkward too. Also, another factor is that it's really hard to find someone who wants to trade face to face as the main purpose of bitcoins is anonymity which would not be achieved when we do face to face deals.

I have to say your points don't seem right.

why are you afraid to personally deal with another person? You never bought something for cash on the street, in a pub, ...? Safety is good in a public place, don't pay until you see a confirmation, take a watch-only wallet on your phone if you like.

Why 'awkward'? It's a nice way to meet, have a coffee and discuss bitcoin with a likeminded person.

'anonymity ...would not be achieved .. face to face' doesn't make sense either. Doing the transfer online is the least anonymous way to do it. There are records kept everywhere. Face to face means only the other guy sees your face and he needn't even know your name.

I've been using BTC for a while. I've been using it at exchanges, to trade altcoins and to order goods over the Internet, but I've never exchanged BTC with someone in front of me. At a store or between friends, or family. This despite having had long conversations about BTC with various kinds of people, and attending a few meetups.

Who has exchanged BTC F2F?

I have exchanged btc in person but not with a complete starnger only with someone I know. Like my friend did to me when he introduced

bitcoin to me, I am also doing that to the people I know and when they got interested I will offer my services. It is also a good way to spend

bitcoin awareness but trading online is much easier and doesn't take too much time. There are also some time when a friend doesn't show

any interest to btc no matter what you tell

I've done this for several months with different people, I had some issues with my bank because I was audited by my local IRS and searched on local websites and localbitcoins for cash sellers because cash I had plenty. I did paid more than the actual price but it was my only option at the time. I just meet up with them in public places, hanged out for a bit till it was confirmed and left again.

I never made a exchange bitcoin face to face because far as I know in my area are very few who use bitcoin, so the exchange bitcoin face to face is not popular in my area. But I ever bought clothes using bitcoin via online shop, because it is more practical. And maybe bitcoin is more appropriate for online rather directly face to face.

I have not done that before because the buyer prefers me straight up in his wallet for less hassle because if we meet the cost is more expensive. I prefer to sell f2f but the buyers preferred not to meet each other

No actually. I haven't tried it. Exchanged online is good enough for me, I won't take any risk just to see the person I am buying/selling my bitcoin. Aside from that it is time consuming, you are just wasting your time and money and you are just selling it at same market price. It's kinda joke.

It's not that people do face to face transactions for fun. They either don't have any other way of obtaining Bitcoin, or they simply make a decent amount of money by buying coins just below the market rate, and selling these coins just above the market rate. If you do just a few transactions per month, then it's not really rewarding, but if you do hundreds of such transactions every month, then it adds up nicely.
some people are lack of facilities to exchange their money to bitcoins online and because of that the only way is face to face. it's no problem for them as long they know how to keep their safety .
and it's not a joke. you have the facilities to make your life ease consider it as a joke because probably you've never find the problem of not having enough facilities

Never had the opportunity yet. Never even met anyone who knows about bitcoin IRL.(aside from family of course)
Although, if ever I am presented with the opportunity, I most probably will agree to an exchange.  Grin
Just for the hell of it!  Cheesy
I even occasionally check if there was a scheduled meetup in my area. You never know.  Wink

This is the right attitude. Props to you. Smiley

Do it for a small amount at least once. See how it works and how you can make it suit your comfort level by being in a public place.

You'll enjoy the chat over a coffee with a fellow bitcoiner while waiting for a confirmation.

You never know the person whom you are trading with and what he/she is capable of. Of course, I did bitcoin transaction face to face but never did any exchange. Mainly because I don't trust people I meet online and I love my money...  Tongue
