After reward halving, there is only 3600 BTC per day

What limits the number of coins mined per day?

The protocol defines the difficulty to be exactly what it needs to be so one block is mined every 10 minutes.

Beyond Imagination
After reward halving, there is only 3600 BTC per day, if the total hash power reached 360 TH, it means those with 100GH total mining power will only be able to mine 1.0 BTC per day, a miserable performance if BTC price stay the same

Put above prospect in mind, maybe it is better to buy BTC now instead of buying mining rigs, of course those already mined a lot of BTC at hand will still purchase the mining rigs without additional investment

(600x54) + (50x27) = 32400GH/s

Add that to the hashes BFL's ASIC units will be adding to the network when they ship and you gotz a whole buncha crunchin'.

R.I.P. GPU mining.

The BFL Pre-order thread has confirmed ~48TH/s. This is another 32Th/s, and 300 Avalons is another 18TH/s. That's a minimum of 100TH/s by the time they all ship. Prolly closer to 150TH/s. That's still not even a 10x difficulty increase. I suspect it will be quite a long time before we get to 45million difficulty numbers.

Part of this is recorded numbers, part of this is speculation, so should be taken with a grain of salt.

Inaba posted confirming ~85th in all pre-orders so far (about a week iirc).

So we're look at... at least 5x just on BFL hardware alone. if we see another 100th/s from other manufacturers... we're 10x.
According to my maths, fpga will still make profit between 10x and 15x. but gpu's are stone cold dead at about 10x.

Josh recently said, indirectly, that they have about 200 TH of orders so far.

I'm on the fence here. The only thing I'm sure of is that if I do pre-order it will be from Tom's outfit. I've appreciated the transparency.

I have one question though Mr. Tom, and I don't know if it's been asked/answered previously. If I go ahead and order a 27Gh unit, is it possible to upgrade it to a 54Gh unit at a later time? I mean prior to shipping that is?

Anyone thinking about ordering either from BFL or BTCFPGA should consider this: Knowing the real number of how many units are in line before you is something that's pretty valuable info + knowing that BFL has taken a lot (not known how many) more orders and their customer service claims January shipping for orders bought today. Both plan to ship in Nov/Dec IF everything goes according to plan. It's basically up to the manufacturers who screws up less in the coming weeks I suppose.
Cablepair, I would like to hear about your contract with the engineering firm that makes the ASICS. What deadlines have you set them and what about delays/problems in the design/manufacturing, have you got any headroom in the schedule for such things?

Are you asking him to predict how quickly the next 350 units will sell?

No, but they don't make the boards. There's a couple possibilities here, one is that they have enough cash on hand to just order 1000 boards regardless of the state of preorders. It's not like they'll have trouble selling them if customers start receiving them in early December. The other is that they don't and won't order a unit in the first batch until they get a preorder for it. If that's the case, then at some point in order to meet their deadline they have to say "We have 800 preorders now, go ahead and make 800 boards and ship them to us." I'm asking when that date is, if it exists at all.

1000 seems like a minimum order quantity to me to be honest.. but obviously I don't know the conditions in which Tom is purchasing/making these units.

+1 Great info.

You've said in the past that you could do up to 1000 units in the first batch and that you hope to begin shipping in the first week after Thanksgiving. Do you have an idea of when orders will have to be placed by to get into the first batch?

I got sick of not knowing what order number we're up to, and trying to figure out how many bASICs are ordered, so I started a wait list here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/wait-list-basic-pre-order-information-117955

Go forth, and gimme ur info!

Although the thread is a fine idea, all you had to do was ask.

Approximately 650 bASIC units have been pre-ordered.
It's more fun this way. Wink

Thank you for simply telling us, cablepair.
