Hi everyone,

Been using awesome miner for a while now and even though i think its a great software, i really hate windows, and the updates and the high disk usage and prefer a linux solution,

I have a few questions and i am sure they been answered before and i apologise in advance.

I see it is not officially supporting profit switching but can it be done via mining pool hub?
can it support dual AMD/Nvidia mining?
(i vaguely remember it is not supporting dual GPU mining, but i might be wrong).
generally speaking how does it compare to AW in terms of performance?

thanks!!!

Added "Disable GUI on boot (don't start X server, console only, no OC for Nvidia)" in Tuning dialog

https://hiveos.farm/changelog

How do I do this "Disable GUI on boot"?

Is there some command or config file that needs to be changed?

Also when this "Disable GUI on boot" is done can I re-enable the iGPU and have HiveOS use the iGPU and not one of the nVidia mining cards?

How do I manually add a miner and what do I need to do to be able to chose that miner from the drop down list under wallets I would like to add sp-hash fork of suprminer https://github.com/sp-hash/suprminer/releases would it be easier to replace suprminer with this fork

since it's linux, you can build any miner then make the start-up commands yourself to run it Smiley (search hiveos forums, i saw someone had posted how to make the startup mining script)

as for the drop down menu, well, thats a website, how are YOU gonna add a miner to that list? Tongue

you can request miners be added there to them tho (i would like tdx's AMD lyra2z miner added myself to that drop down list Smiley)

@HIveOS please add: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/tdxminer-lyra2zxzc-miner-for-amd-gpus-on-linux-3299496 to the wallet/miner dashboard  -- GREAT Linux only AMD miner (and runs OOB on hive i have found)

Any closer to getting Vega to work on Hive OS?

It works in latest image build but I think only 1 or 2 cards and must be in first slot. Have a read of the changelog in the new image

Thanks. I heard about this before, but I am hoping they get it to work fully with at least 6 Vega cards rigs.

Works but OC and undervolt are not support.

is it possible to know the type of memory of the video cards in hiveos? if yes, how?

Yes, it is usually possible. Go to Rigs tab, choose a rig and look at info about every card. In some cases "unknown type" is displayed. In such a case you can try various additional command-line tools that are also available but no guarantie of sucsess.

mm in my case there is no information about memory type at all:

i've also tried the command nvidia-smi, but nothing that i was looking for

Not possible on hiveOS. Nvidia driver / tools can not give you memory details (Nvidia sucks for that on linux)

hi everyone,

Hive lover here, wondering if anyone knew of a way to make the OS reboot if it doesnt manage to connect to the network?

yes, you can walk up to the machine and turn it off, then back on again Tongue
haha jk, but really, prob not, as theres no connection to give it commands in your situation, as you said
maybe if you had one of those fancy smart plugins, they have phone apps you can toggle the power on the plugs to with i believe Smiley

Dear HiveOS team,

is there any known reason why the first GPU (Slot 0) on some rigs is getting way hotter than the other GPUs in the rig?

https://s9.postimg.cc/6i049t5of/Screenshot_2018-05-13_13.03.55.png

And is there an explanation why this doesnt happen on all rigs ? The 8 GPU rig is an Octominer, the 5 GPU one an open air rig, and the 4 GPU one is an open air rig as well.

Thank you & my best regards

I have 10 RX 470 cards with me mate. I really looking to go with the best os for mining. Then I conclude two OS for it. In that one is perfectmine and another one is Hive. I tried to flash both the OS on 32 GB flash drive. I did not get the problem with the perfectmine they are pretty similar option to flash use as mining moniter cum software but this Hive does not respond after I flash it one my pendrive. I do not know what is the issue happening to me mate. No responding from the board end.
Very common problem with me at least. Format the pen drive and reinstall again. Format the pen drive from Command prompt using Diskpart command- list disk-select disk x - clean (use google for more help or ask here). Unzip the zip file with WinZip and use Hdd raw copy tool only. After the software writes the OS on pendrive it will say do you want to format "name of folder" and click No. Works for me. If I format, it gives some error like grub or gets stuck on loading or just "-" blinking.

Hi
im using latest hiveos, but i get cpu load is very very high, it slows down the miner and then freeze

How can i solve this problem? I mine with 6 pcs 1070 ti with ccminer enemy miner ravencoin.

thank you!
Same problem. Cpu load is above 10 and most of the time it doesn't report temperature which is a big problem.

Why the complete lack of details?  Huh

Why in the world do you expect help when no details are supplied.

If you want help please answer the following questions:

What miner are you running?

What processor(s) are you using:
Intel, AMD, Type (Xeon, Opteron, i-series, etc) and exact Model/Part Number?
Quantity of processors?

Are/Were you mining on the CPU before this issue?

If you are mining on the CPU then post the CPU mining config file.

12*1050ti on g4400. Never mined using cpu. When the last time I tried to mine rvn on ccminer enemy and some other fork, i got problems like it won't show temperature in hiveos.farm but I could see it through teleconsole. Mining was normal for sometime. Sometime it used to shpw temp. and few moments later it's unavailable, no data from ccminer but rig is online. I could see all the details from teleconsole though and it was mining very good. Then after sometime one of my gpu reached 70C and then I shut it down. Other gpus were roaming around 57-59C. On ver 0.5-49. Will try again tomorrow on the 0.5-50 and see what happens.

Turns out one of the cards had gone bad during the night (one of 3 EVGA 1070 SC 5173-KR's) and once identified pulled, all the other cards were properly recognized again.

Never seen a card go bad in a rig manifest itself in that way before.  Learn something new everyday I suppose.

So I have about a dozen rigs running HIVE.  This morning one of them was no longer hashing.  This particular rig had 7x 1070 in it, a mix of EVGA 1070 SC's, a couple of FE's and a Zotac mini.  So I rebooted it and when it came back up, it still would not mine (running DSTM).

So I took a closer look and for some reason HIVE thought all the cards has transformed into P104's overnight:

As you can see from the above, they are not quite "there" as the power limits are not showing up.

Compare that to one of my other 1070 rigs that properly detects the 1070's as 1070's and not GP104's:

I tried a cold boot, still doing it.  Then I unplugged it for 10 minutes and when I started it back up, it continued to do the same thing.

Any idea what happened?  Not that I think it matters, but this rig has a Octominer mobo in it.

Any Plan for support RX Vega?

0.5-45 IMAGE RELEASE 2018-04-19
- Logs are OFF by default
- Linux 4.13 kernel
- Installed ROCm with AMD driver to support Vega
- Configs partition is now NTFS
- Intel's E1000E updated network driver by default

Few words about Vega. Yes, it's running. But with consumer  motherboards you will have only 1 or 2 of them mining. In order to work it required PCI GEN 3 bus and x8 or even x16 slot. Most of us have x1 slot risers and maybe several x16. So at the bottom line it’s working, but not too much sense in that still.
More info on tech details found here https://rocm.github.io/hardware.html

VEGA support is limited by ROCM drivers. If you have proper MB you can use VEGA with the current HIVE.
