I think it is much better to trade USD -> cryto in order to gain just a little while the market is down.
Trading those coins would be no issue for me because the price of the coins are cheap now. Holding the coins would be my main goal.

During the time the bearish market is still going on , and there is a continous fall down of prices , it is better to hold your tokens and coins so that you have no regret if ever you panic selling of your tokens and coins, in the market of exchanges.
However the good theme. I believe that people who are now selling off all their assets in the future will regret what they have done.

I had a similar situation , I think that if you take the good coins then definitely need to keep them very long , now just the case to buy

I'm really disappointed with myself now because of Verge. Way back June 2017, I bought $200 worth of XVG and I sold it last week a day before the pump happened. It could be worth more than $5k now if I just HODL. 
Well, I need to move on and learn from this mistakes. This will be a lesson for me to have patience and wait for the right time to sell my coins. The reason why I sold it was because I need more funds to buy another coin. I'm happy with the coin I bought because I can now see that it is now starting to pump. Maybe, I'm just half disappointed every time I'm seeing the current value of Verge. I bought some XVG again and will surely hold it this time.

Cryptocurrency is full of surprise, if you will just have hesitations next time if you are going to buy/sell, you will just end up losing an opportunity. That is why sometimes after you have sold something, it is unhealthy to check the price again. Just move on.
Being late in regret will not be able to make all the money that has depreciated and then will return to full again. While holding may be a non-promising way. It's not everyone that holding a coin works. If you had held that your coins, by today's market it you will be lucky if it's worth half of that amount.

I would say hold right now. You must know that there is no coin that can rise all of a sudden. If you choose coins like Prg, Icx and Lisk, they will rise for sure but need time to rise. In the previous years, there were really many pump and dump but quite seldom in the current times.

The problem is really the market condition and ICO scammers who just run or who didnt want to focus or develop their project especially at this condition. Some project might already lose hope to continue due to the drop of coins. We should know whether the project needs to be hold more or to give up at all. Hold is sometimes not a good strategy for every coin it could be a perfect one on other coins,but sometimes it very good to hold and be patient like the saying goes the patient dog eats the fattest of bones when you do not hold you end up regretting so HOLD
