I am sure that at the moment those people who did not manage to sell the coins and left them for long-term storage are very disappointed.
When market will go up we can make new mistakes selling instead of hodl ))) Hodl is absolutely right strategy for bull market. In december we thought the bull market will go on, but... 
this is definately a huge lesson to be learnt from a senior member in the bounty profession, it good to learn from you but it hurt to know this actually happen to you knowing fully well you must have gain a whole lots if you have waited some few days more, anyways the lessons learnt here will not be forgotten so soon and we will remember to always put at the back of our mind to always be patient.
I'm really disappointed with myself now because of Verge. Way back June 2017, I bought $200 worth of XVG and I sold it last week a day before the pump happened. It could be worth more than $5k now if I just HODL. Well, I need to move on and learn from this mistakes. This will be a lesson for me to have patience and wait for the right time to sell my coins. The reason why I sold it was because I need more funds to buy another coin. I'm happy with the coin I bought because I can now see that it is now starting to pump. Maybe, I'm just half disappointed every time I'm seeing the current value of Verge. I bought some XVG again and will surely hold it this time. 
I hope that this experience of mine can be a good example for everyone especially the newbies in this community.
Due to the very low economic market value of the coins its better for us to HODL so that we may avoid losses of money. the value of a coin is very easily affected by the market waves so that the ups and downs are not as clear as your selling experience when prices go down much differently before you buy it. we all really have to be more patient and continue to sail with the right time to buy and sell good coins. All of us regret now. Hodl was just a scam, we were brainwashed, and we naively believed that tether could scam. But now forced hodl is better than selling. The market can not go down always.
If you decide to hold, you should do a thorough research of the coin you are going to hold. many peoples sold their coins just before at december 2017. they must be regret because after they sell, the price of crypto gone far. be patience

HODL as long as you can. I suggest that sell it if you're really in need but not for a reason like that. You get some profit somehow, but you can get more if you've been patient enough. Experience is the best teacher, it is okay to make mistakes but you must learn from it. Do the right thing next time. You'll never know that you must have to wait a little longer for the price to pump. It's unpredictable.

seeing the possibility to have made 5k$ from 200$ lets you with a lot of regrets. but almost a year after, the price is still there, and you sold and bought again you may have been able to have a good profit as well. getting your gains is never a bad solution. The bear market today has made so many cryptocurrency traders to not believe in the power of holding(HODL). It is good to understand that cryptocurrency is all about long-term investment. When you understand this, then no more regrets.
That is true. I am a day trader of cryptocurrency but it is really hard right now. I do also have other investment that is long term though because that will be my last stand with the hope to earn profit even more in the few months to come.
