Yea, but you can't just hold forever! You need to actually be bold and sell it when the best time could happen. You might miss the biggest hype and the biggest price could ever meet if you keep hold it, sometimes you need to do that. Longer is better but it doesn't matter if at the end the price is shit. in the current market conditions, I personally prefer HODL rather than sell and then buyback. Bitcoin prices aren't too high to sell right now, it's better to wait until the price of Bitcoin reaches $ 17k + then sell and then buy it back when the price drops to $ 10k.

of course this is not a good time to sell unless there is a sudden need, HODL is the best way in the bearish market at Altcoins at the moment. I think in 2020 there will probably be a pump at the price of Altcoins and if there are a lot of Altcoins. Better to hold that coin if the value is very low. It's value takes time to increase and that is the time to sell it. But if your coin has high value now. Better to sell it than losing profit.
I don't think so. The market has thousands of rubbish coins and the stubborn hold shows only that we are persistent in doing the wrong thing. Well this topic is from March 2018, in that time selling would be the best option, since then prices dropped a lot. Selling back then and buying back now would be awesome shorting, the one that should be in trading books.
But if he didn't sell them until now he need to clean his portfolio, some coins dropped so hard that it will be hard for them to recover, we can see that by volumes they have on exchanges. If he doesn't sell now and take at least some money, he will stay without that little, some coins are going to zero!

As the market is still going down then you need to hold it and wait for the right time to sell it. Making a profit is really hard when a market is still in crisis and depend on the token/coin if it gonna pumps up.
Much better to buy and put it in your cold wallet and wait by next year sincr for sure that market will go up and bounce back up high.
