Thanks for sharing these links. I just finished going through one of them and I have downloaded it, so I can take my time to read through it again. Now I have a better knowledge about how bitcoin works. I am sure that before long that I will be able to be contributing meaningfully to topics that are related mainly to bitcoin, in this forum. And ultimately start bitcoin transactions.

There are many kinds of contributions, it's not just technical about Bitcoin. Whatever opinion we give, at least it can be useful and becomes a joint discussion. Those who are seniors may have quite broad insights, but we also have to follow them. by studying what is discussed in the thread we must be prepared with our responses or comments. there is a lot of information that can be shared as long as it does not conflict with forum rules.

There's no need to rush learning about Bitcoin since it'll take some time and there's a lot to learn. You can gain a lot by reading here in the forum but for me, experience is the best teacher. You may learn a lot here from reading but you may also forget it easily so experiencing things will make it easier to understand and won't be easily forgotten.

As for contribution, it doesn't necessarily mean that you need to contribute technical knowledge about Bitcoin to be considered as a 'contribution'. Your opinion and knowledge that you can share can be a help. For example, if you have something to share with regards to the economy then you can go economics and such. Try exploring the forum and see what opinions, ideas, and knowledge you can share or discuss with others.

Bitcoin forum is not a place that they do learning compition, do not be on pressure and take your time to learn from the experience once here through reading of threads/post. Whatever information you are seeking for patterning Bitcoin, I assure you that you will be provided with the answer at least to a possible satisfaction. You must be consistent with your research, and read Bitcoin articles online, use search button to find some topics that may be useful to you. At the end when you must have been fed with the proper knowledge, you will certainly have what to contribute in this forum.
Either way, bitcointalk forum is not a place where you can showcase your skills and let the whole forum members see what you’ve got and then make you a significant and useful member instantly. Indeed, there is no competition in the forum, it’s up to you how you’ll make the best advantage by equipping yourself with the best knowledge and skills. But my advice is learn to take it slow and just enjoy the company. You will always be appreciated by other members as long as you are always genuine in your intention to help others with your useful and quality posts especially for newbies who still have a lot to learn from other members.

We came from being newbie too and upon observing what ideal habit to stick with and keep learning on it this now you get attracted with those topics for example in trading and project development once you want to know trading tons of information you could read and upon with your continuously learning you can now share your thoughts and experience could serve a lesson to other people too.
You don't need to hurry to rank up as long as you learn it's easier to achieve those.

I think no way to learn fast, learning should take time.
There are many articles about Bitcoin and there are some threads related to Bitcoin in this forum, you can read those sources. You also can learn it through YT videos, there are a lot of videos related to Bitcoin as well. Just google or take a look at the Bitcoin discussion board, you can find some sources there.

Are you a university student?
You can create software that can help forum members if you want.
If you don't want to create any software, you can contribute in any way. But before thinking about it, you are better to focus on improving your knowledge related this forum.

Haste make waste, why not take your time and enjoy in learning things. Most people who are in haste in doing things make mistakes and misunderstandings.  So we should not haste our way to understanding Bitcoin and this forum.  It is much worth the time and effort if we can do our part as a member of the forum deligently like following the rules and regulation of the forum.  Prioritize reading more and posting less to understand the topic and be able to create a quality post which can be recognized by other member and might deliver some merit for your rank up.  After all ranking isn't only bound in merit but also in activity.

Do not think that you can easily learn and expect fast learning in the forum. There’s a lot of topics that are listed in the forum, and one cannot learn them all in just a blink of an eye. You have to be very patient if you desire to learn, and learn because it’s your passion and not because you want to learn for quick profits. Besides, you don’t have to pressure yourself that you should be good in something so you can contribute well in the forum. Just be yourself, and be the best version of yourself so you can give the best of what you have.

Time will just come once you think you have gained enough knowledge and skills and learn from other people’s posts, I think when you start sharing what you have learned too, that alone remarks that you can be a useful forum member.

I don’t really understand what you mean by fast way to learn about bitcoin? If you are planning to learn about bitcoin, then it will be a gradual process, if you are in rush to invest in bitcoin, then you might end up losing money in the process because you won’t really understand what bitcoin is all about. Some people that are in rush to invest in bitcoin always end up being scammed, they don’t have proper understanding about what bitcoin is all about, they end up involving in Ponzi scheme thinking that’s what bitcoin is all about. Bitcoin is very wide, we have different sections in bitcoin, so it’s not what we can rush to learn.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?
You cannot easily grasp all the information on hand if you are always in a rush. Learning has its own process and mostly takes a lot of time especially if you are still new in this kind of market. So never be in a hurry and just enjoy every new things that you are learning. And if you want to be a significant member and makes a good contribution in the forum, then learn more and honed your skills first and improve your forum experience, that way you will become a quality member in the forum. No need to focus on your own skill, develop a lot more so you can guarantee that other people will have a lot to benefit from you.

This is one of the reason why they commit mistakes because they want to make all of things especially searching for information more faster. They didn't want to spend more time to get more additional knowledge that's the reason some of the fall on false information which leads then to more uncomfortable situation. If he really want to contribute maybe he can post the information he see outside of this forum and post it here so that there's another new information to read by all forum users who's interested on such topics.

If you learn about bitcoin the fast way, you may not learn everything and may forget to learn some important things that you can make mistakes in later in the future and then discover that you skipped those. To properly learn about bitcoin even if you are a fast learner, you should give it time, learn and understand one side before you move to another side, do not try to learn everything about bitcoins quickly and at once the fast way.

You were born on April 15, 2023. I am April 01, 2023.
If after this you get the fastest way, please share with me, because so far I haven't found a practical way.
What I just found now is increasing the opportunity to be in the discussion room related to the needs that I want, such as technical discussions, bitcoin discussions and listening to reputation discussions.

Discussions about technical issues are only heard, including on bitcoin discussion boards because they are still not used to it. Likewise in the reputation section.

You already have knowledge, so why not share it with others? Check out the forum and find topics that pique your interest or that you know something about. Maybe you can even find something cool on the Project development board. Maybe you have some coding skills or experience with a certain technology that could be useful for the project.

But if nothing catches your eye, why not start your own project? There is no limit to what you can create, and you will be helping others in the process.

I don't think anyone is there can tell you the quickest way to learn about Bitcoin, but it will rely on how quickly you pick up assimilate and able to digest and how seriously you are about in learning it. Before anything else, if I may ask, why are you looking for the quickest way to learn about Bitcoin?

I saw that several members have given you some useful links to articles about Bitcoin that you can use to learn.i think that is the only way they have for you, if I may say. it is now left for you on which pattern will make you understand easily learn it.and it will be useful if you can go through it one after the other in gradually process. I will advise you again if you come across anything you don't understand bring it to this forum; I believe they will be able to explain it better.op I can't argue that a rapid learner's perspective is harmful but that should rely on how serious you are term of learn whatever. rushing through learning without a solid knowledge is never a wise move, especially when it comes to learning about Bitcoin.

Learning takes a lot of time so never expect to learn fast because it may seemed you’re only here for quick profits, which will never be possible to happen. And if you want to be a significant member in the forum, then always take advantage on learning everyday so that what you will know and learn, you can share it to others and benefit from your post. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just learn and enjoy in the forum, and when you think you’ve gained good skills and experiences, then share it to the forum so that they will also learned from you. That way, you’re doing your part in the forum actively.

I was about pointing out how the OP needs to get rid of the mindset of his learning been fast. There's no benefits in been fast when it has to do with finance. Always take you time so you can understand what you're getting yourself involved in. You don't have to complete your learning before you can invest in Bitcoin so that shouldn't be an excuse why you want your learning to be fast. If you go with such mentality then you'll also be attracted to quick profits which is very bad and can lead you to losses.

OP you're not obligated to contribute to the growth of the forum financially or with any skills that you have. All the forum needs from you is your quality contributions while interacting with others on the forum. Just obey the unofficial rules of the forum so you can stay out of problem as we have those willing to scarified their time to make sure you pay for the offends you have committed on the forum. To help you with understanding how things work on the forum, do more of reading then replying. Observe others, learn from them and improve on your writing skills.

If you try contributing on a complex topic use the search engines and read on those complex things try breaking them down to your own understanding that way you will find discussing with your mates fun and when the hunger to dive deeper comes you can then try: https://learnmeabitcoin.com, remember learning never ends in the crypto space so other materials are also available as well as videos on youtube to get you moving.

Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?
I'm not aware of the fastest nor the most efficient way to study Bitcoin. However, if you want your reference to be inside this forum, the best thing would be to read and engage on Bitcoin topics on our Bitcoin boards (Bitcoin Discussion, Development & Technical Discussion, Mining, Bitcoin Technical Support, and Project Development).

If you're a software developer student looking to contribute, I suggest exploring our forum's Development & Technical Discussion Board, Meta Board, and Beginners & Help Board. These boards offer valuable insights into our community and industry discussions, giving you a better understanding of what we do and how you can get involved.

Familiarizing yourself with our forum is also recommended.

I don't think telegram is a good place to refer to a beginner in cryptocurrency. There is 100% chance he would end up getting scammed.

I wrote only about Official news from the world of cryptocurrencies. Also such channels as the official Binance channel. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend news channels as they are different for each country and language. Just a beginner should be aware of what is happening now, let him not understand everything, but you need to know the latest events. This will save the beginner from the scam.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?

It's very simple: you need to develop and expand your cryptoknowledge horizons. To do this, you need:
1) the easiest way is to watch channels about cryptocurrencies on YouTube. You will definitely find some that can be explained in a language that is convenient for you.
Great idea and I haven't seen this advice but I remember my early days in the cryptocurrency, when I visit YouTube, there are good information there and since it is virtual, it helps for easy assimilation.

2) read the telegram channels, but only about the news of cryptocurrencies, not about the advice of traders.

what do you want to know about bitcoin, is it the algorithm behind it or is it just what bitcoin is used for?

if you want to understand the ins and outs of bitcoin and also the technology behind bitcoin then you can read the whitepaper of bitcoin itself, books about the basic of bitcoin & blockchain and mastering of bitcoin.

but if you just want to know about using bitcoin, then just buy bitcoin on an exchange that is currently available and then store it in your personal wallet safely or you can try to make a transaction (sell - buy) with bitcoin.

or (since you are a student of software development) maybe you can learn how to make a wallet or develop the exchange yourself.

Development and Technical discussions is a good board, also you should get knowledge from Bitcoin books, Bitcoin wiki, Bitcoin stackexchange, blogs of Bitcoin developers.

Software development?? That's great to hear if it was about you - cus it sounded like you Aksed on behalf of someone else.
I mean, you've got a greater advantage as a software developer; if you're doing it multipurposely, then I suppose you've got so many useful ideas that peeps in here would appreciate.
First of all, you've got to follow the rules in here ... ofcourse you should know that every coordinated site like this would likely have 'em rules....they aren't some kinda hard ones either, but the penalty for flaunting them could result to a perma- ban. The Grand rule is "avoiding plagiarism" or copy pasting .... You could prolly rock on to the technical board and share you ideas as well.

I think there is no shortcut in learning the economy and technicalities of Bitcoin, but there are lots of tutorial videos and articles scattered on the internet.  Since you are a software development student, I think it is best if you read the whitepaper and understand it.  You can then visit https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin  to see the history and development of Bitcoin.  This will also give you hints on the programming language used to develop Bitcoin.  You can also check Bitcoin.org for more information.

Don't ask about the fastest way but rather take all slow since you need to digest all the information available since this could help you big if you want to make all things especially on your investment to be placed in good shape. Thinking about rushing all things might put your capital at risk since there are so many scammers promise easy riches to people here and you might fall to good to be true offer by those frauds.
Don’t be too serious actually because that will make you tired eventually. Learning will not happen in just a day or week, since it needs couple of months and even a year before you can finally say that you know a lot. Unless if you are being greedy to make profits, then it will never work in the forum and you might only lose your capital in the long run. No need to rush. The forum and its members are actually always friendly and always ready to help you grow inside and out, just trust the process.

Based on my experienced how beginner fast learn and contribution in forum start first with your local board, easy for understanding when discussing about Bitcoin, altcoin and forum guide when using your local language. I don't blame with any one have understood well with Englis language but as beginner is better start bitcointalk forum on local sub board. Seems all countries have each local sub board and there are almost the same guide with global board for giving step by step how to start in bitcointalk forum.

All people have giving global board about step to start in bitcointalk, if you understand well with English language is not matter but not bad ideas when your beginning first on sub local board.

Welcome. You may have heard alot of things about thos forum from different quarters. Of all those things which you may have heard, I know that the one that must have stood out the most was getting merit to advance to the next level and which makes one eligible to be accepted into a signature campaign.

What I am saying is that take your mind off merits. Because it will make you begin to spam, create low quality topics and replies, this would lead to you being on the ignore list of most members on the forum. To contribute effectively, focus on high quality post not two liner posts. Read more about bitcoin and stay up-to-date with the latest in the Bitcoin ecosystem that way, you'd be able to contribute to the conversations that go on here.
You summed it up and it might be what the OP wanted to hear or know. Surely you gave them the right replies but the OP should try to be active here if possible on a daily basis.
Some newbies will make a single post and exile. The OP has even tried to revisit the thread to read responses.
Some will just create and dump the thread and go on to open some other threads they will also not follow up.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?
I will let your first question slide as I believe it has already been answered by users above. Now, to the second question which has to do with your software development skill; there's no special way to contribute here than offer what you know or think will benefit others. Whenever there's an issue raised around what your skill can resolve, don't hesitate to proffer a solution to it.
I'm responding to the two responses to here please. Firstly I humbly commend and thank everyone here who have wholeheartedly given out their honest opinions to my question. These responses ate surely gonna help me in becoming a significant and great member of this Forum.
Going forward I'll do my best in doing everything I have been instructed to do and also looking forward to greatly contributing to the growth of this Forum in with my own knowledge. Thank Once again all, I sincerely appreciate

There is no better place to learn about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies other than the forum which you have located and to contribute to the forum you must have an idea of what is been discussed here else you will end up going off topic when bitcoin related matters are discussed.Becoing a fast learner you must devote time to read from the links that have been  provided by other members here and your ability to understand and make more research to gather more information about what you are learning and put them to work will help you understand the things about bitcoin better before you think of contributing positively to the growth of the forum. I will advise you focus more on getting more knowledge and experience from the contributions made by members here because it will help you to get more useful information about the knowledge your seeking for.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?

Hello good day mate and welcome to the forum. Ali I can say is that once a newbie you must learn the step by step procedure in order to learn this forum is like inn our school we need to take the lower level first before we achieve the highest degree. So it means that for this forum in order to learn and contribute we must take it slowly no need to rush because this is not a competition in the first place. And the first thing you need to do is to know what this forum all about, what are the rules and regulations, what are do's and don't here in forum. And once you already know that, then you can start participating some discussions.

And also the best way, is to read more post less and search everything you need to learn.

You have been given so many articles to read by forum members that posted above, don't be lazy to read because reading will give you the exact information and knowledge you need to grow in this forum. Whatever that you have learnt that is will bw useful to this community, you can bring it down here to share with the community so that other forum members can also learn from you. Don't be in a rush, take your time to do your own research and think of growing in knowledge on bitcoin and I bet you,you will also grow in the forum too. You skill is an additional advantage for you.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin?

There’s no fastest way to learn about bitcoin, if you want to learn fast you might miss some vital things. You’ve been provided with lots of links and books to learn from already. Just take it slowly and understand every part it very well. It is very broad and so it needs total attention and willingness to learn and understand more. Take care of your security, without knowing about security of your assets, that’s the first step to failure in all what you’ve learnt.

and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?

You can contribute to the forum not just as a software developer but also as a bitcoin enthusiast who have had knowledge about bitcoin and wants to help others asking for guidance about its use. You can also contribute to the community by sharing a topic you’ve learned something from and would be of great help to the forum members.

The fastest way to learn is to devote time to reading about Bitcoin and also watching some video content if it requires you to do so. You have some helpful links here from other members. Do well to read, learn, and ask questions if necessary. There are a lot of helpful topics on this forum being distributed to different boards, and to help yourself get quick results, you need to know how to search effectively to archive the topic you want to explore. So, see the guid on how to search effectively https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-searching-effectively-5276341

I also suggest you read here and watch when you have time.

If you are truly a software development student then your case is lighter because you are a smart fellow, so what are you waiting for? Everything about Bitcoin and crypto are available online, you need to read what bitcoin is all about? Use the forum search on here or use the Google search engine.

Also you don't have to be fast about it because you can miss a very important detail, do not rush to learn about Bitcoin, I am thinking you want to rush so that you can end up investing money and make some money.

I want you to know that there is no short cut in cryto investment, if you have heard about some people making millions they get lucky, you should be careful and learn all the necessary things about crypto first before investing.

Bitcoin makes the world go 🔃
Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?

Finding the fastest instead the better way to learn Bitcoin is a bad approach in learning because your knowledge is time dependent. The better way to learn Bitcoin especially on software development side is to take online courses and participate on github contribution by looking for open source software that needs your work. Every developer starts in there since most of the open source project in Bitcoin is in there.

You can contribute to the forum when you already have the experience and sharing it to the community by creating a tutorial or info thread and teaching other user that posting question on Bitcoin discussion and technical board.

Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?
There is no fast way to learn about bitcoin, firstly don’t be in a rush you would have to go through the process, learning bitcoin isn’t only tired down to this forum you just also have to do your own research outside this forum, follow crypto-currency related news and with time you should have understanding about it.

If you want to have a broad knowledge about what Bitcoin wallet is all about you can check through here.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/general-bitcoin-wallets-which-what-why-1631151

Personally I take further interest in cold storage wallet because your funds are safer there than using an online wallet to stack your Bitcoin. There are many options on cold storage but I pick more interest on electrum.

Anyone can contribute to the forum regardless of what your profession is outside the forum, so just follow the rules And do some reading.

Don't spam when you are newbie because with spam posts, you won't be able to contribute good things.

If you are a coder, you can code userscripts or SMF patches in order to contribute for the forum and community. It will be highly welcomed by the community.

Welcome to bitcointalk.org, the Bitcoin Forum! You can access this welcome message from the "help" link in the top menu bar at any time.

As a member of the forum, you are surrounded by legends; phenomenal successes and catastrophic failures. The forum was created by Satoshi Nakamoto and saw the first exchange, the first altcoin, and the first ICO, but also catastrophic software flaws, massive thefts, and incredible scams. You too have an opportunity to become part of the forum's history: whether and in what way you do so is up to you.

Table of contents

The purpose of the forum

This forum exists to provide a platform for the free (but ordered) exchange of ideas. If you have an idea to express, then it is probably possible to do it here as long as you follow the rules.

A lot of people come here primarily looking to make money. The forum administration is very happy that people are able to use the forum in order to better themselves; indeed, one of the reasons for Bitcoin's creation was to break the artificial barriers which prevent so many people around the world from attaining prosperity. However, if your attempts to make money conflict with the forum's primary goal of enabling discussion, then you are swimming upstream, and you will not be sucessful in the end.

If you view the forum as some sort of "job" where you complete some basic tasks and get paid, then you will almost certainly be disappointed, and the forum administration will not be sympathetic. If you do make money using the forum, then it will be through innovation and entrepreneurship, not any sort of mindless busywork.

Forum rank

When you start out, you are a Newbie, and you will run into various annoying limits. These limits will be reduced to the point where you shouldn't usually notice them after you have participated in the forum for a few weeks. If you are on the forum to talk, then that's all you really need to know about rank. Don't worry about it too much, and you will eventually rank up.

If you want to maximize your rank, then you need to increase two statistics which are listed on your profile:
  • Activity, which is maximized by posting once per day on average. Posting more than that is useless in raising your activity.
  • Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.
