good sentence: "only you can motivate yourself"...

I totally agree! Because real change only happens from within us and it will only move the body forward (once the mind is willing) to achieve that same goal.
that is the power of intention... (´∀`•)
family is just your spirit booster, they can not do more than give any full support when they want to stop smoking, full control is in your hands, if you are not able to control your strong desire to stop smoke then it's futile. quitting smoking is not extraordinary but for someone personally, it is an extraordinary achievement.

quitting smoking is not an easy job, it needs a strong encouragement from within yourself. your child, your wife or even your parents will not be able to make you stop smoking. I never smoked but I suggest that you reduce your cigarettes per day, do not immediately stop smoking, you must do it slowly so that your body and mind adjust to changes that you do that.

Cold turkey man...that is the only advice that I can give you, smoking is the hardest habit to quit..out of all the people that I know, the ones that were able to quit can be counted on fingers...the psychological addiction is too hard to break but it is possible, I think you should exchange that bad habit and occupy your mind with another positive one such as exercise, hitting the gym or do some boxing classes

I personally don't smoke because I've seen my grandfather's struggles (a chainsmoker) when he was confined inside the ICU for 2 months and a half due to emphysema, before his eventual demise thereafter. Sad

With that being said, I have an aunt that lives with us back in the day when I was still a teenager and she's a habitual smoker too. Also, I clearly recall the days that I'm constantly telling her to smoke smoking and she told me that one day when she's ready, she'll just suddenly stopped smoking instead.

Lo and behold, I wasn't really expecting it but it did happened after a few years later and she did successfully stopped smoking altogether, just like what she told me a couple of years ago.

Don't quit smoking suddenly, 90% of people quit smoking suddenly. Basically very few people succeed in this way. The rest of the people became frustrated and started smoking again. So take some time, prepare mentally, take the help of others then try to leave slowly. You can quit smoking by exercising regularly. Because regular exercise reduces the demand for smoking. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Focus on other foods to suppress nicotine cravings.

Do you want to live a shorter life where you do what you like or a longer life and deprive yourself of everything?

Just like anything, the poison is in the quantity. I like having a cookie every now and then, but if I had 20-40 per day, this would be just as deadly as smoking that many cigarettes.

1 or 2-3 cookies per day with an otherwise healthy lifestyle and diet probably wouldn't be that detrimental. Hell, it might even be good for mental health because you don't feel like you are denying yourself all of life's simple pleasures. Same thing with tobacco.

There is even a doctor who wrote about the health benefits of tobacco in moderation. (less than 5 cigarettes per day or choose cigars and pipes over cigarettes since you're not inhaling paper and added chemicals)

Most notorious cigar smokers usually do alright with regards to health and longevity - Winston Churchill, Michael Jordan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fidel Castro, the list goes on. Michael Jordan was said to have a cigar before every home game lol.  Cool

I started practicing cigarettes since I was 9 years old. Regular smoking starts from the age of 12. Now I am 26 years old, I'm trying hard to give up smoking, but can not do  not? Can someone give me some good advice to quit smoking?
Eat a bit of ginger every day.

I think it would be better to eat ginger instead of cigarettes For example, if you eat sweet drinks instead of cigarettes you will be able to get rid of cigarette addiction very quickly.

Smoking is typically an addiction you'll quit if you would like to it will depend entirely on you Since it has become an addiction it will take some time to quit I think it might be best to keep yourself busy when you're addicted to cigarettes  and you will be ready to quit easily when the time is up.

PErfect answer mate,i am a smoker since younger age,i smoke for more than 30 years but i made a decision and now i had quit smoking for more than 4 years now.

This is our own will and nothing can push us doing it,because the more we are hindering is the more we want to smoke.

Smokers who dont have control will do everything to sustain their addiction.

I know someone whose working but he only spend his earnings in alcohol, cigaretters and gambling. But he is not a family man so he can still live his life the way he wanted.

You should not force yourself to quit smoking. It will just exacerbate your desire of nicotine. It is better to discipline yourself to taper down your cigarette consumption. You have to strictly follow your plan before and after your final quit day. It is also recommended to make your self busy like having a good physical exercise or doing your favorite hobby. Family support would also be helpful. It is better to be with non smoker friends or collegues. Stay away from triggers that can remind you about your smoking habits or better to just stay in places where smoking is prohibited.

You should not buy cigar to stop smoking. You can't stop if you keep buying it.
If it's already part of a daily routine, it's hard to stop someone to buy. He'll do many things so he can simply buy one to fulfill his hunger to smoke.

But this is good advice, if someone can practice this for a long time, he'll gradually stop.

Well if it is just a routine it is easy to stop it.
It takes around a week to change a routine and set up a new one.
You just have to do other things instead of buying cigars or smoking them. Day by day the addiction is going to be reduced and in the end you will have no desire for smoking.
And I agree with that if you do it frequently and you spend your money in other things than buying a cigarette then you can do and overcome it.
