You don't have to hold it back, if you are unsure of the tokens you hold then you should sell it quickly.
Your doubts are the seeds of loss, and immediately find another coin that is more convincing and potential. that is the main purpose of trade, which is to get profits.

I am agree, the main purpose in this market is make profits. If we dont trust on the token we hold, better sell it and convert it to bitcoin because bitcoin is main cryptocurrency. There is no need to trust new platform or project because i think the important thing is make profits by investing on good and working product

Now a days so many spam coins in the market . I'm varied to invest
Before using a platform site, you must make a research first before anything else. Because once you do it, it will be the beginning for you to have a trust in it. Then, you will start to invest to that platform on which coins you are going to buy to trade it to get profit. Or check it first at the coinmarketcap for you to ease worried you have in mind. This was just my opinion only.

if you want to buy or invest in a good ICO, because if you are not careful in buying ico you will be deceived, at the moment there are a lot of new ICO popping up, whether it's good ICO or ICO that deceives us. we have to know about this:
1. Team Developers, Marketing Managers, Communication Teams, Community Teams, Team Analysis and so on Their identities and profiles must be clear, check whether there are videos or photos of the office, company address or photo of the project team.
As the developer or developer of the project, do they really have expertise in Blockchain?
2. Lawyer Team or Project Advisor - Advisor is an important element too.
3. Having an Exchange Agreement, this is what we often don't find from most previous ICO projects, so contributors will have a little worry about the prospects for the ICO project going forward.

Crypto market needs a thorough study to their respective projects whitepaper and team before investing to them to avoid such great losses. Thats why I prefer investing also as or like a gambling. Theres no guarantee of getting a profit everyday here so never listen to fudds.Better invest to top 10 in CMC at least.

Proceed on their telegram and stay for a while. See to it that the admin and the project has a good updates and working hard for the project. This is the most thing I do when I invest in new platforms or a project. Simply you can see that a certain project has a sense and worth it to invest for. But, it is still advised to just invest in those strong altcoins like ETH , XRP , BCH and etc. BTC is still the best but OP were asking about variety of platform to invest so check on the coinmarketcap.com for the list of strong altcoins in the market.

Just invest what you can afford to lose, or do it with safe coins in the market, there are lots of coins we can say that its safe to invest rather than investing in any shit coins.

Do not trust any new platform unless otherwise the new platform was made by popular team, with experience. If that's not the case, you are probably going to waste your money in that platform. Be wary when you invest.
This advice is reliable but I’ve encountered some successful projects that didn’t appear to be so appealing, no attractive whitepaper and not much flowery words in it. In fact their objectives was very simple and had very few supporters but then they turned out to be successful and their coins got a very good price in the market. Investment is like gambling, no 100% assurance of success but if we will never try we will never know. Better to lose trying than to never try at all. Just saying.

Why you are running behind the new projects when you don't have much skills to find out the good project among spam and scam coins.

It will be better to trust best crypto currencies like bitcoin which is safe when compared to new platform,if you still want new means you have to increase your knowledge about analyzing the project team legitimacy and their potential level.

If you want to invest in a coin that you can trust, then you can choose to invest in a coin that has a working product or already listed on the market. At least you are assured that the project still continues even if softcap is not reached
Talking about the crypto digital platforms, you badly need to focus on the best ones and do not experiment with the fresh arrivals in the market. See an exchange is very important in determining your value and if you are not on the best exchange or platform, you might not make as much money as others who are on the best platforms make. Better use wise mind.

You have to make proper research on new projects before investing. If you are not sure how to do it than invest in IEOs or in established coins

honestly it's very difficult to trust a new platform, especially one that has a general concept, but it's good to do research as to what are the advantages of new platforms with existing platforms? , and can the project be guaranteed in the future? if you have got an answer, maybe it's time you have to trust / not trust the new platform

So many ICOs right now. Don't just rush to invest in any coin just cause it looks promising, you might end losing greatly. If you are newbie in the crypto space, get me experienced person to help you out.

Sadly that is the truth about the crypto space now, there are many projects with no true value. To invest, it will be better to go for projects whose team already have an active product, as this will make them serious. Also, before investing in any platform or project, endeavour to checkout the team, the community etc.

You are right market is a bit tricky especially the new projects are like shiny attractive things that lure investors to invest their precious bitcoin for hopes and dreams and mostly end up in loss only handful projects are there that have truly outperformed btc most new projects have not lived upto the expectations.

Research is your friend.  Often time investing in a newly created platform is like a gamble but with intensive research you can minimize the risk of being scammed.  It is best to know that platform fundamentals, the people behind that project and their upcoming plans.  You can then evaluate what to do depending on what you  have learned.

Do not trust any financial advices .

Indeed but you can make it as reference and start your research from there.  As I am saying, verify first the validity of that advice.  Most people are giving advice for their own personal gain.  They will tell us to buy this x coins and later to find out that they just sold their coins and now we are left bagholding a huge amount of worthless coins.

Old trick of most traders. Saying positive things to a particular project but the truth is, he's just selling the coin for his own gain.
As everyone knows already, relying on someone else's piece of advice will not do any good for your investment.
Personal research and assessment are still the best to guard your self interest.
But I would go for a platform with working app or product with active usage in the market rather than an excellent team without anything to offer yet in the public.

Very important things what you have to check:
1) trading volume
2) reviews on estabilished and trusted sites: bitcoinexchangeguide, ccn or coindesk
3) number of real users
4) token? with real usage?
