As what I learn from the threads so far, I think earning Merit is a very challenging part.
In order for us to write a good quality post, understanding is playing an important role where true understand Bitcoin will indirectly help us to be more closer to the Merit.

Merit is like Facebook like, you should post a good content and contribute to the forum to make it more resourceful. You should not ask/beg/request/suggest anyone to send merits, if anyone finds your post valuable then he will automatically give you the merit points. Acquire maximum knowledge and sharing it with others is the best way to gain merits.
Thanks,  this liken merits to Facebook likes make me understand everything very well.  Hopefully I can make some good contribution  to the forum

I have been wondering how and when I will get my own merit.  I see some members with as much as 100merits and I have been thinking what is required to get the merits and who will give them to me

Merits are not owned, they are earned.
sMerits are something that are allocated to some users based on their post history (mostly those with higher ranks, in order to distribute it among those who are worth it).
You will need to be constructive in your posts, your posts should contribute to the discussion (just do it as you normally do while you hang out with different people, try to solve anyone's queries and help them). We look for some exceptional replies and/or comments that deserve our sMerits and we don't think too much giving it to the best poster anywhere we find them. To remain on-topic, I would give you an advice to be very choosy and take only those threads that are relevant to your knowledge, i.e.; don't post what you don't know about (as an answer) because that might not be of any worth. This way, you will prevent spam and contribute to the community in a better way.

P.S.: Asking about merits, whether publicly (just like opening a thread like you did here) or PM'ing anyone could get you into trouble.
Because then, you will get a negative trust for asking it. Somehow, it's not right to ask for Merits. So, be very careful about it.

Now you are doing everything wrong.
First of all, why did you started 2 threads about same thing? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-do-i-get-merit-3086974 (not sure why someone merited that post).

I think that's because most members are trying to increase their activity by posting some random posts and they'll never stop doing so.

Secondly, it's nth thread about Merit. We saw hundreds of similar threads, if you would use search function, you easily can find answer.
Then, never use all capital letter in title. Never!
These users who received 100 Merits have good knowledge about cryptocurrencies and they are great contributors. Can you compare their and your posts? If not, it means that you aren't deserved Merits. I recomend to read posts of these users with many Merits and learn how to become good contributor.
And never beg for Merits!

Pretty much everyone can get merit depending on their post. As long as everyone of all ranks are spending their smerit then everyone will get merit where deserved.

Just remember to spend your smerit as it will decay.

First, you should avoid mistakes that result in forum rules violations. Please check this one:
Unofficial rules of bitcointalk forum

There are several topics which can help you to earn merits.
I still got 80 smerits to give away
Point me to undermerited posts
Forum ranks badges avatar signature time between posts
TMAN’s level up challenge
sMerits for arts
17 Merits to give to Quality posters
And please remember trying to exchange merits like those ones:
Plagiarism and copy/paste posts
List of users who are abusing merit system
More mass merit farming

Most important, you should do your work first, keeping contributing to the forum through high quality, constructive threads; then sometimes merits will come. You will mostly not receive merits for each high quality thread, and you should write high quality posts continuously; someone don't like sort of users simply to write one or two good threads to beg for merits, while rest of their posts are shitty, spamming threads.

I guess, you do not want merit if you still create a similar topic like this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-do-i-get-merit-3086974, you not only will not get merit. Even you are threatened banned by moderators.

I have seen a lot of newcomers asking the same question already, and I see another post of yours containing the same thing with the same title, for sure it will be deleted. Also I suggest you look for the answers, since there have been posts made already about the merit system and how you get merit. You might find better answers and discover new information as well. But anyway, just to answer your question, mainly in order to received merit is for you to create a post/comment with which well-thought-of and constructive. A post that everyone can learn and benefit from, not just for the Newbies but for all ranks. Make a post that might enlighten or give out information that someone here might not know of yet. So if members here with merits to give will like your post or if they got something new from it then hopefully they'll give you some.

Also I noticed a few posts here already about different ways of earning merits, for example the question and answer one, OP will ask a question and if you have a concise answer then they award you with merit. Then there's another wherein they ask you to make a picture or an artwork that's about the crypto world and if they like it and feel like it's useful then they give you merit. So yeah, like I said earlier, just try to explore around and you might find something you're able to do in exchange for merits.
