I have a core position that I hold for months/years. For shorter term swings, I typically will sell my initial investment if it does more than 2x and leave my profits in to see where or if they run...all depending on the quality of the project. Other swings I sell as soon as they hit 20-30 percent gain.
I tried day trading for awhile but quickly realized how much of my day/social life it consumed. Swing trading and investing are much more conducive for a good social life for me.
That's cool. I see you are able to earn profits this way also. Actually, short term trading (I would like to call it this way... :p) assures profit and you don't need to put many efforts as in the case of a day trader.

But if someone is a bitcoin holder, then probably he can earn good profits this way however other coins won't produce any good results.

I'm a daily trader, normaly i hold my coins for a week max. But sometime i need to do it much longer when the price falls from the sky. I don't to sell them in lost, so i still keep them, sometime for several months. Because I believe, no matter how long it takes, the price will be recovered.

just one week? You make me feel curious. What would you do if you bought a penny, then it goes down long term? Would you sell it even though you lost a lot of money?
Nah, i won't do that, surely i'm gonna hold them till the price get recovered. I believe that i won't lost as long as i don't sell them in lower price. I still remember that i hold my LTC for months because the price keep droping right after i bought it. That's why i choose to be a daily trader, i learn in a hard way that greedy can dangerous for my investment. As for me now, 10% of daily profit is much better than waiting 100% profit a year.

I have coins that I plan to hold till the end. Most my coins have a 3 years outlook however I do sometimes pick some up just to hold for a couple days if I know something is big coming up for them.

Currently holding coins for about 6months now and I'm planning to hold on to them for a couple more years, anyways all that's left there are my profits and already withdraw my capital a few months back.

I will hold bitcoin for a very long time for sure. For other coins, it depends. Many times, it is
good to take profits on a big pump in a coin.

I try to hold most of my coins forever. Only sell if a coin is not performing well and
need money to put in a hot new ico or coin.
Wow forever? are you sure? I think if you do that even the coins are close to death you cannot sell it. I suggest that review the performance of coins or altcoins in the market also their movement then if you see that this crypto had potential hold it but if you see that theirs no improvement just let go and sell it.

How long do you hold your coins?
Some coins I have a couple of months like Sia.
Some years like Ripple

I rarely trade short term. I exhaustingly research a project and then buy in for the long haul. In fact, I am currently holding about 10 coins with no intentions of selling any of them in the near future.

I plan to hold some coins for years -- unless god forbid, something catastrophic happens and I have no choice but to sell.

That's a clever strategy, just buy hold and accumulate, the best and safest way to get rich

I usually sell my initial investment, and hold the rest. If I don't need the ether I can hold forever, but when there is better investment opportunity i just dump the coins and invest my ether somewhere else.

If you're not using money you're gonna need anytime soon, you won't miss it. The best day traders are the ones that have an extra of full time income; they don't feel the need to sell at a loss cause there's always cash coming in anyway. They can afford to be a lot more patient and really give a coin the chance to recover, even if it takes years to do so

If a coin has good volume and a good track record then I don’t really mind how long I have to hold the coin.
I took a year off from crypto and I put my money into a bag ripple and didn’t worry about a thing
