It depends on your profit target.you can hold your coins for several months for better profit. If price drops you can hold waiting for price to rise or probably you can cut your loss then buy again at lower price.

Doesn't matter how long to wait, you should catch moment when they price would be good for you to sell. Analyze everything before selling because not necesary to sell when you can wait a little bit more.

To determine whether to hold for long depends on various reasons but the ups and down is part of the scene, part of the market and we are part of it cause we're within it.Holding such coins is not about any of the situation we are facing, rather than, its a matter of one's choice and how needs comes into it.Basically,we have to wait till the price goes better, and I think, you may make either of the choices

For me I will keep holding my coins until I earn the desired profit that I like or want. Since the market is not doing great these couple of months I think the most common thing to do is hold and wait. As much as possible I don't sell my coins just to cut my loss. If I am not making any profit then I would rather hold my coins and wait patiently.

The money you invest in bitcoin or altcoin must not be the money you need to spend on a daily basis because you could get profit over 10 years. If you are down, with Bitcoin's decline, I recommend you wait as long as you need, 1 year, 2 years, 10 years, to make a profit

Apparently all the activity in the field of crypto currency is aimed at investing in the Crypto currency and waiting a long enough time to get a good profit. For several years this period will not do.

With these days market it can take few months if you waiting for the price recovery to January price.
But I am sure soon or later market will bounce back and reach all new time high again.crypto always up year by year so nothing to worry about if you hold some coin that still on loss condition.

based on my experience the average wait is 3-4 months to get the best price, because when ico is finished it must be dump price and it makes the coin position is not good and less stable, so I think it takes several months to get normal.

you can sell immediately if you want to regret at later stage because we all know that bitcoin is the future and there is no need to say that price will be very high in future that it will not possible to buy at that time. so i prefer to keep hold your btc very tight. it is your future.

You decide when to sell no. Sell in the cases when they realized that they have reached the desired profit. Undecided

Bitcoin keep on falling down  and no sign of raising. How long can we keep holding?
Every person has his opinion on the bitcoin . Personally, I believe in it, and looking at the experience of previous years, you can be sure that the price will rise. But we also need to be prepared for the fact that there will be such declines and price drops in the market.

In my opinion, we are not based on time. But we look at the starting price and the final price when we will sell it.
If you have a profit, we will immediately sell. If still a loss or fitting, we will hold it.

That is depend on the situation, but if you think it's the right time even you gain only a little that is not too bad. For me it's not bad to aim high but sometimes you have to be practical.

bitcoin prices are in a down position, but to avoid losses you have to buy them at falling prices, because in a low state bitcoin also has a movement in a small volume though.

You should only wait as long as it takes for you to get the amount of profit you were aiming for when you first started investing. that would help to make the decision of when to sell easier for you. What you should do is when you buy a coin or get some tokens, place a price target for it that you want it to get to before  you sell, then however long it takes for it to get to that target price is how long you have to wait.

Interesting replies.   This week BTC has come down quite hard, but its now recovering again.

Generally there are two types of investors, the ones who believe in the product, and will hold on to it for dividends and support the product so it appreciates in its prices..   Then there are speculative investors, who aim to profit by investing in short term, then selling off to take profit, this then causes a panic for many newcomer who sell off their BTC which in effect brings down the price.  The investor would then buy these BTC for cheap and wait again for the right time to sell to again take profit.

Hope it helps :-)

we will not lose money if we just hold back though for a long time, and you will lose money if you sell the coins you buy cheaply.and the hold limit is when you feel you've made a profit no matter how long it takes, right now the bitcoin falls but it will go up if it's time.

Selling is entirely your choice as long as you feel like the time is right for you the you are free to sell anytime. Its however advisable to sell when all your investment goals have been reached and profits made,  that's the best time to sell

Your hodling term should be flexible, because the market is moving with a very fluctuating pattern. Sometimes, for example, the bear months will control the entire half of the year. So if you give a fix term to your Bitcoin hodling then you might end up selling with half the price of its all time high. That is too cheap for me. I would not sacrifice a very big amount just to cater to a fix hodling term.

I actually believe in something that when you gain you need to get your capital back and let the profits earn more profits for you.
In that way, you can be affected so much by the price movement.
