It all depends on what strategy you have chosen and what goals you set for yourself because if you decide to go for long term investment then you wait for the bitcoin's value increase otherwise you should simply go for day trading.
Holding for a time and selling requires great patience. How long depends on whether you want to have more money or returns or you want to have money just for daytrading only. Which means you buy and sell immediately as soon as the value rises up where gain is in clear view.
There is no exact time if how long we should keep on holding bitcoin, if you trust bitcoin you will never have doubt to his capability to make a recovery. Or a good way to do is sell your bitcoin now.

It makes sense to sell your coins whenever their value will get to the point when your potential profit satisfies you and makes you gain from your investments and that is the best strategy to follow to stay successful.
I think, the more you wait, the at a more expensive price you will be able to sell later. You don't need to panic at a temporary drop in prices, in cryptocurrency market this happens often but in general the prices for most coins will only grow in the coming years.
I believe the price of Bitcoin will rise again, so I am holding mine till that time comes.
Well, as for me i can say that, either by investing or from doing bounty campaigns to earn tokens, after the tokens is in your wallet, to my own point of view i think one should at least wait for like six months or more before selling out.
