I have about 100 of them, because I created a lot of "fake" addressess for "Flytraps" - If they are triggered, I know someone compromised my computer, or have access to my home.

A lot of them is used for "paper wallet" cold storage, because I like to split them up into smaller chuncks. {I believe everytime a paper wallet is imported it is compromised and cannot be used again}

And it's easier, to use smaller amounts and it increase your security and decrease your risk in losing everything in one hack or fire or flood.

This could be off-topic but does anyone now which address has highest amount of transactions. One of my addresses has over 500 transactions but I'm sure that there is address with 6 digits transaction number.

I feel sorry for the poor hacker that had to figure out which ones had balances and which one did not

I feel sorry for the poor hacker that thinks there will be anything in any of the addresses and even tries.

Ha-ha so true other than maybe a dust transaction from a spam bot there would be nothing in any of those balances
Unless for some reason or other someone used that address but that's very unlikely but you know with 1 Billion addresses cough idiots ^_^

Not 100% sure though if they will be reused at a later time if no one puts a balance in there for a very long time though or if those 1 billion addresses are all yours forever Cheesy

I hold my btc across around 30+ wallets, which may be a bit more than the average user has
I may have generated more than a 100! but most lie empty and unused
If I had to guess, I think the average guy (active and inactive) has between 3 to 10 wallets

I have about 15
I would guess that the average user has around 10 to 20 addresses

I've generated over 10,000.  Grin

I only use probably 10 and I've only used about 30 over the course of my Bitcoining. << new verb

Why have you generated 10k Bitcoin addresses? What's the point of that?

I regularly generate bitcoin addresses for projects I use so I have generated millions if not tens of millions.

Funny story, I once left vanitygen running when I went on holiday generating addresses that start with 1MF into a text file, the output looked like this;-

It was generating about 50,000 keys per second.  Anyway, I came back to my workstation after 3-4 days and it had totally filled a 1TB hard disk Wink .

It was only after I deleted the file that I though it would be a quite effective way of thwarting hard disk scanning malware!  Just getting the data from my PC over the internet would take weeks (bandwidth is slow here in NZ) but actualy checking the balance of the billion or so keys I generated would take decades!

Would take a long time anyways that's a damn long list lol.

1TB of Privkeys and Bitcoin addresses thinking the full blockchain is somewhere around 20GB lol.

___
Average per normal user lets say 100
__
Average when Miner foreman is included (1TB) ....
Says a few thousand each lol

I generated around 20-30, and maybe ever used less than half that.

But I have adresses associated with me in exchanges, most of them used by deposits, I think another 20-30. But no private key, so can't say that they are mine.

Yep, and we STILL wont be close to exhausting the amount of keys available.  Here is thousands more (with private keys) for you to chew on;-

I do a bit of trading here and there, but I keep my coins in my wallet most of the time especially since that Poloniex theft a while back, where I could've lost some BTC (but luckily didn't). What wallet do you think is the most secure right now?

I don't know but desktop wallets are probably the safest. But Blockchain is safe also because they send you your backups on your mail. They are not hosting wallets as much as they are providing them so I find them safe too. What do you use? I used to have desktop wallet but I went on Blockchain because I can do transaction then from anywhere I am.

I actually use Blockchain as well, but I also sometimes use Electrum. I really like Electrum, but Blockchain is definitely the most convenient.

If you include all the addresses I had on various exchanges, I have probably used at least 250-300.

Well I didn't count my addresses on exchange sites because I don't consider them part of my wallet.

I suppose that's true since the address might be yours, but the wallet still belongs to the exchange. I would still technically consider them as my BTC addresses. Without them I would say I used roughly 100+ addresses.

You've got that right. It could be considered your address in exchange's wallet.

No matter how much security an exchange offers, it always makes me uneasy keeping my coins there for an extended period of time. Nothing beats having your own wallet.

Well I don't keep anything on my address on exchange site. I find it unreliable to hold any amount of money for a long period of time.

Yeah between the thefts, technical problems and some exchanges simply going under, it really is unreliable. Recently I got a stupid negative balance error on Cryptsy and they wouldn't let me withdraw anything for over a week before they finally fixed it. Spend days wrestling with their "support", had me really worried.

That's what am I talking about. You could get yourself in some problems for no reason at all. Most of the times all those problems will be solved in your favor but you don't need that stress caused by it.

I do a bit of trading here and there, but I keep my coins in my wallet most of the time especially since that Poloniex theft a while back, where I could've lost some BTC (but luckily didn't). What wallet do you think is the most secure right now?
