Im interested to know how many people are actually now involved in the bitcoin world, Is there anyway to find out a rough idea of the user base so that we can come to a conclusion on what kind of adoption we are currently at? It seems difficult to gauge since this forum alone has several duplicate accounts from the same people.

. /r/bitcoin has 180k subs to it so would it be safe to assume if we included all miners, users holders and whoever else that we are still at under 1 million users? If this is the case then we still have a long way to go.

Does anyone have any more accurate guesses or way to determine the market?

I am sure there will be no one who can determine with certainty, but if you look at the market in 2016, then most likely most of them still survive, which in the end when prices jump in 2017, most of them certainly sell bitcoin they have.

I can't say exactly about users of bitcoin. But recently there was a study by CCAF ( Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance) which stated that more than 3 million people are into cryptocurrencies at present and actively using it.
I think it is still not enough for the amount of people using cryptocurrencies because there is still a lot of people who are currently using bitcoin or any kind of cryptocurrency around the world and they might not counted in that study that is done by the CCAF. In my estimation i think the number of users will go around 10-20 million of people as of 2016.
Agree I think the number of population user bitcoin or cryptocurrency is 10-20 million. But no one can give exact number of total population of bitcoin user in 2016. What if this year for sure te population grow because look the price of bitcoin its very high so its mean if the bitcoin price is high maybe they have millions of people are now using bitcoin. And everyear many people investing in bitcoin so the population is still counting.
in fact, bitcoin became popular among the public in 2016. at that time, the price of bitcoin had begun to rise, and became a conversation in the community. well, so many people started it in 2016, and obviously it's hard to count.

As of 2018, the number stands close to 40 million, i remember in 2015, estimates showed that there would be 5 million people. but it turns out it was largely misrepresented. so in the next 2-3 years interesting things that most people did not anticipate could happen. Bitcoin could easily hit 50K with 100 million people with some crypto.

If you will talk about the number of people using bitcoin then it is increase already by a lot because of the news and the hype of bitcoin and a lot of people now are interested in bitcoin because they see the price that it is very high and they see a lot of potential for bitcoin and for sure that estimation is not enough for now because it already higher than that because people now are open minded and technology oriented.

Bitcoin trading is different than buying and holding. ... Some people would like to invest their money into mining Bitcoin. ... probably get more Bitcoins if you just use that money to buy Bitcoins instead of paying the site. ... I have reviewed many Bitcoin investment sites in the past 3 years

I guess there are lot of people who use bitcoin. Bitcoin is commonly use in other country so I think there are lot people using bitcoin to their daily life and then the number of people who use bitcoin is rapidly increase in every seconds, minutes, hours and day has come. They use it to make more bitcoin. Some people hold there bitcoin because they wait to pump the price of bitcoin. Also they hold bitcoin and they wait to the right time to trade there bitcoin to make more money.

blockchain.info wallet claims they have over 7 million users, right on the wallet homepage.

As you already told, one person can have several accounts, but I believe it is safe to assume at least 3-5 million users tried Bitcoin for short amount of time. Coinbase has at least million accounts as well, and these are verified by government isued ID - so pretty much these numbers represents real people.
Agree to this probably average is about 3-7million bitcoin user and still increasing rapidly also and because of rapid increasing the bitcoin price also rapidly increasing to 1500$ also many people are having panic because of bitcoin price.

What ever but still we cannot confirmly tell that how many users are their and even i agree that the increasing number of users is also the reason that the price is $1600 + right now. and if the same way it is going next month we can see the price go above $2000

It takes a long time to process every alt coins and their block chain to calculate the amount of transactions per day but one thing i know is that we did have around 100,000 transactions per day last year and now it has tripled by now and so is the reason we are seeing delays in transactions, even this does not provide any concrete evidence on how many people are using bitcoin, but can have an average evaluation.

The thing is that we are not able to even estimate the number of bitcoin users, because we dont have any kind of database with such information.
Also, assumption that one wallet is equal to one user is very stupid, it is kind of obvious that some people use way more than just one wallet service. Also, the thing is that you would have to list the addresses, and some wallets provide an option to change the address every single time you want to make a transaction ( to send btc onto your wallet).

So i think that question will never be answered.

No one knows the accurate numbers of people who hold bitcoin, all I know there's a thousand bitcoin holder in this industry.
And I don't know if there have the history record to trace the bitcoin holder through their bitcoin wallet addresses, is that possible to determine it?

No, no one stores information about people using bitcoin through their wallet address. Bitcoin is completely secure, owner, no one knows about the money they have. I'm sure of that. When it comes to the number of people using bitcoin, we can use surveys to get more information, but that's relative information, it is not exactly accurate.

for sure since 2009 til now its round about a millions of members that we have now in Bitcoin Industry. Cheesy
Agree maybe around 7-15 million bitcoin user's but i believe that it's around 10-20million members now 2017 but that was just my guess and no proof but we can see that the price is still growing and that's why many people started investing in bitcoin.

Wild guessing, it's what yiy ate trying to do with that number, maybe there us so many bitcoin addresses but how many of us have more then one wallet, how many wallet's are opened and forgotten. There is no way for us to find out how many users there is in bitcoin world, for sure much more then 8 years ago when everything started and number of users is going up, so that is one more important things, how many people use bitcoin exactly is not so relevant.

We're lacking behind in technology to trace those who used Bitcoin in 2016. We can't determine how many of them, but we can speculate it based on predictions of how many people are using BTC now and the amount of improvement in BTC market cap in 2016 to 2017. Just predictions and assumptions.

I am pretty sure that no matter what amount of people start using Bitcoin and hold Bitcoin we will claim that it won't be enough while the whole Bitcoin Blockchain gets larger and larger to download until only people with expensive computers plus hardware are allowed to download Bitcoins Blockchain. I hope the internet speed goes up by then because downloading the whole Blockchain would be a very long task especially  if you find only like 0.0004 BTC in your Bitcoin address.
