It'd be pretty hard to accurately crunch the numbers to see the amount of users on a year to year basis. One can assume that it's gone up using common sense but I don't believe it would be possible to get an accurate percentage / statistic seeing as one person can have multiple addresses and multiple addresses being created for specific transactions etc etc

its so tough to judge its not like other surveys where you can take a small sample size and multiply it and come up with a pretty
solid %.  Its still such a new thing that we wont know for years.  Maybe you could figure it out by country then combine all countries
and try and estimate.

Bitcoin is decentralized and now that they widely adopted it's almost impossible to get the right number and you are all right, wallet is not the determining factor to get the data because every user can create as many wallet as they want.

it's very hard to know the actual number of people who use bitcoin. if you track all btc address it won't be accurate because one man use more than one wallet. if you can track all IP you will know but it's very difficult to do. but, as long I know and found on Google In 2016 survey found more than 100million of people use bitcoin.

Yes its almost impossible to calculate the exact number of users using bitcoin, and I don't think that we should waste our time in thinking that, community is growing for sure and that is the best sign.
That's right, this is very useless. maybe everybody can see at himself and try to talk with a brain how many you have a wallet, maybe 1,2,3 or above. and you got the answer from yourself.

According to my optimistic forecasts, Bitcoin average prices in 2020 could be $1,276.5 USD, my moderate scenario is $861.5 USD. I base my forecast on a higher trading volume and the potential BTC market share in worlwide e-commerce.

I think prices are going to boost toward 2024. My moderate scenario expects $2,807.3 USD per BTC. I think it would be a reasonable evolution for BTC in long term.

In my very optimistic scenario, I believe BTC can touch a roof of $4,200-$6,700 USD in some moment of the next decade. I believe it, but i'm not expecting it.

i think its really hard to calculate how many people use bitcoin because we don't know if someone already have 2-5 bitcoin wallet address. but if we want to calculate how many wallet address that have been release since bitcoin launch, i think its can be done. beside that even we make a poll on here, there are no guarantee that people in out there will not holding bitcoin wallet address even if they are not join in here.

This would be an impossible feat to accomplish to know how many individuals hold bitcoin because one person can use multiply addresses so that is the only real way to track this sort of thing. As far as I know. Undecided

I think it is too much. can not be calculated the exact figure for the number would increase. bitcoin development today is very fast and will likely continue to grow faster in the next year.

As you said, most probably more than 180k people are using it. Maybe 60% of the users are duplicate or alt accounts, so let's bring it down to 90k. But not everyone uses reddit, like me. I'd say about 200k people use bitcoin.

I do not think a good estimate is possible, but it is a good exercise in speculation.

I have 3 blockchain.info wallets. I guess they should tell how many of them are actually active. I have 2 accounts which I've emptied and another one which I haven't used for maybe 2 years (there's only satoshis there). Everybody I know has several wallets and has used several exchanges. So... We may not be that many.

Yeah. Any online stat for a freely created thing is dubious at best. If we look at the amount of r/bitcoin subscribers, I for one have at least two accounts. Many people will have lord knows how many throwaways, plus spammy brigaders, plus people who've long buggered off.

Out of those 183,000 or whatever subscribers there might be 20,000 or less actual individuals.

The only really reliable metrics would be individually verified accounts at exchanges and places like Coinbase and Bitpay. Understandably they're not going to release those figures in case they make themselves look daffy.

Don't know how you would calculate this. That's the beauty of bitcoin it can be used anonymously so
it's difficult to measure all we can say for sure are numbers are going up!

I agreed what you've said, the users of bitcoin is immeasurable actually, though in reality as time pass by bitcoin is continuously growing and the community too.
if there were a survey from all around the world we would possibly get an estimated number
Don't think it will add much value to do surveys. Mainly because of the fact that you don't know whether or not people answer everything with full honesty.

We will most likely never find out how many users Bitcoin exact has, but you can see that the adoption rate is getting higher and higher as the number of transactions are going through the roof.

blockchain.info wallet claims they have over 7 million users, right on the wallet homepage.

As you already told, one person can have several accounts, but I believe it is safe to assume at least 3-5 million users tried Bitcoin for short amount of time. Coinbase has at least million accounts as well, and these are verified by government isued ID - so pretty much these numbers represents real people.

It's extremely difficult to estimate the Bitcoin user base. It is even unclear what should be considered a Bitcoin user. Is it enough that somebody has earned a few Satoshis at a faucet that he/she does not use afterwards? Or is the criteria that somebody already actively used Bitcoin as a currency to buy or sell goods or services?

If the latter definition is used I would estimate the total number of Bitcoin users to be still below 1 million. The market capitalization is still too low for a higher estimate.
