I join bitcointalk in 2016, but I knew bitcoin in 2014, and I don't know that bitcointalk is the places of the founder (Satoshi) telling and share bitcoin knowledge to people. Until I found this forum from google because, at that time, I only searching bitcoin from the faucet and don't think about searching for another information about bitcoin. But soon, I realize that I need more info to know bitcoin in details and I want to know more about altcoin. So I try to search on google and finally, I found bitcointalk and try to join and search more and more info that I need.

Joined 2 years ago. How did I found about this community? Well I used to be a freelancer way back but I suddenly quit because I was burnt out that time. And I just want to start fresh in 2017 and try to search for ways to earn money, until I found this community and I was hooked up. Then started to join signature campaigns, on-line gambling and trading, and the rest is history.

Lucky I was able to join prior to the massive growth at the end of 2017 and I'm sure that everyone did make a ton of money back then.  Grin. Of course I also love the economic and financial freedom that bitcoin and other crypto's have given me in the last two years so I'm going to stay here as long as I can.

Come July will be my second year on this life supporting forum. A generous friend gave me the link and asked me to join back in 2017 and to be very clear, I have never regretted joining forum.

Joined in 2014 though I did not pay too much attention to the crypto market initially. Began paying more and more attention as time passed and earned regular profits by trading BTC now and then.

Was completely fascinated by this nascent technology back then. Loving this forum and the world of cryptocurrencies even more now.

I had a previous account prior to September 04, 2014, when I opened this account, but unfortunately lost access to that account.  Angry So, I was actually around here since 2012, but I have been lurking way before that.   Tongue

This has been a tremendous ride for me on Bitcointalk and I learned most of what I know about this technology, from what people have shared on this forum.   Wink

More than 2 years already and made some decent profit because of this forum.
I learn so many things and stop investing in the wrong site,Before I got into this forum I used to invest in HYIP and PONZI SCHEMES  and I also invested in some cloud mining site,
I lost a lot because of it and thanks to this site I learn how to earn in trading and learn some few tricks and manage to earn in campaign's.

2013 I know Bitcoin, but I don't care. and assume that it is an ordinary currency. I started to be active in this forum in 2016, this forum gave me great benefits, I get the knowledge, and I get profit from this forum.

I left my real job, I made the crypto world my main job, I collected trading capital from this forum by participating in several Bounties.

sometimes you forget how long it has been... time goes by just like that. it has been nearly 6 years for me (5.5 to be exact). the fun part is that i started after the bubble burst and during the price drop and still stuck around. if i am not mistaken the price was around $550 or maybe more and continued on a downward trend down to $150 and i was happy all that time because i knew i could afford to get more bitcoins in return for my fiat dump.

the first time that i heard about bitcoin was before that though. but unfortunately i was too lazy and busy to pay it any attention. then in 2014 somewhere online i read about how you could buy things with bitcoin without needing to have an account with centralized services like PayPal (aka the decentralized and permissionless nature of bitcoin) and i was hooked.

8 years for me too. I think I heard about bitcoin in Apr. or May 2011 on slashdot.

I started mining around May-June 2011, using GPUs. I had been lurking on BTCtalk for months, but joined in Sept. I then sold everything in 2013, way too early.

After missing the 2013 bubble, I realized I was a moron, and started accumulating again in 2014. I also lost BTC to various scams, exchange hacks etc.

If I was smarter, I would've went all in when bitcoin was $2 in early 2012. I would've sold everything I own for bitcoin. But I didn't , so now I'm just an average HODLer. C'est la vie!

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
joined in 2011, so ~8 years for me.

i originally heard about bitcoin from a tech forum, anandtech i think. loved the concept of digital currency and especially the DIY aspect of mining, the security, the censorship resistance, all that. since i had a HD4850 gpu i got some basic setup info there, then once i had a basic handle on mining and tested it i joined here. been learning ever since.

3 years passed away already since I joined Bitcointalk and I haven't found a reason since then why I should not stick with Bitcointalk and keep mining knowledge. Bitcointalk is like a knowledge mine...

I first knew about Bitcointalk from BustaBit, someone told me when I was chatting there. I was a PTC/GPT/RevShare earner before joining Bitcointalk and I visited BustaBit by clicking on a banner. I don't exactly remember why I clicked the banner but most probably I was seeking new opportunities and I ended up here quitting all those shit.

It's not always all about earning, sometimes it's all about knowledge.

I've been in this forum since 2014, for me the trip I traveled was very pleasant. I get a lot of important information and I also get the opportunity to get some opportunities to get a job. I learned how to choose coins and I traded as the first choice to earn income. the information in this forum is so updated that I can make decisions quickly and accurately. here I also got a lot of friends, many communities in my area were finally met in this forum. for me this is my second home, part of my life is spent here.

edit: found this https://www.freevaluator.com/ seems www.bitcointalk.org is worth a bit of $$$. Says the site has been around 8 years.
So it was started in 2011.
It actually opened to the public in 2009.
Under the domain forum.bitcoin.org, IIRC.
It's been located at bitcointalk.org since 2011.

Clueless!
I found this forum through a colleague who is addicted to bitcoin. I have been here for more than 3 years now. Got interested in trading and mining crypto. There are some interesting reads here so I got hooked.

I think this topic should be moved to meta.

I think you have to contact a moderator....don't think I can do that (or should I say don't know how) Sad

If the moderator trips over this and does not think this is the proper area..he will inform me and move it...I figure.

I came here a little over 2 years ago. I heard about Bitcoin recovering from its bear market and thought this might be a good moment to get involved. I heard about it a while before but thought it was bubble deflating and that this hype is dying. As a newbie investor who saw the price falling from 1000 dollars to 200 i did not have much hope like many people who were in the space at that time. I googled it and registered here because I already had a reddit account but no bitcointalk profile.
