I just wanted to know that, what amount of risk is there in investing in bitcoins.
Right now i am planning to buy btc approx 3-4 btc and just hold them as i guess the price of bitcoin will increase in future and i will get some good profit. But i want to know what is the risk involved. Can bitcoin price decrease and is this right time to buy the bitcoin.

The volatility of bitcoin holds a big risk to our money. Yet, untilnow it is still alive and still growing. Maybe the risk of it is 50-50 in your investment because in time to time it may be gone or it may continue to grow as it usually does.the best thing to do to minimize the risk is to invest only the amount you can afford to lose.

If you invest by buying and only holding bitcoin and waiting for bitcoin prices to go up and then sold again, the investment risk is small. But if you invest bitcoin by being a capital owner in ICO, bounty projects, this is a huge risk.

All crypto currency investment are fully risk even Bitcoin also because like how many hardfork are happening dont know which one will succeed and kill bitcoin. So keep crypto investment that much which if dead then you should be able to bear the loss.

In the long term, investing in bitcoin is not risky. This you can see on any chart of price growth bitcoin. But I can not be sure of alternative coins either. Investing in them is much more risky

the risk is the same as we are investing with gold, which differentiates is the increase in prices. bitcoin prices can be high at any time and can go down too, but when bitcoin prices go down does not require the possibility of only a matter of a few weeks the price of bitcoin will increase again. then it is the bitcoin invest in the very good because the profits that can be very large and the risk of the si say not too big (just requires patience)  Grin

Gold investment and Cryptocurrency investment has difference quite a lot. Gold is more acceptable and legalized globally, whereas Bitcoin has also been legalized in few countries but also banned in few, even in few countries the status is pending, anything can happen, so regarding that its more riskier than Gold. The return is quite high and so as the risk, It is still pretty high enough.

Bitcoin can not be compared with gold because gold does not apply to currency exchange, gold investment is superior in terms of legal and legendary assets, but gold is moving very slowly with a losing advantage compared to bitcoin, bitcoin will be included in the government's legitimate regulation slowly, just need 1-5 big countries to make official regulations, then further support will emerge from 32 active countries in this world.

Risk is present in most of all investment and bitcoin is not spare from it. Bitcoin is a virtual currency, so its the same as money, but when you consider it as an asset and hoard it I think there are many points to consider about this. Bitcoin has big community and much affected by speculation. Any negative news about, affects the price.  Its very risky, but for long term  I think the risk is minimal.
There is no such thing such as minimal risk, it doesn't make a difference if we're talking long term or short term but I think that boasting about bitcoin's potential is risky in dettering new investors.

Risk is not something you can calculate, especially on investment. Though Bitcoin is already proven and tested in the past to be reliable and continually keep on growing, investing might not be that risky, but I suggest you wait for the dump before buying and never ever invest something you can't afford to lose.
There are agencies completely dedicated to grade how risky are the investments, there are credit rating agencies that calculate the risk of a corporation or even of a country defaulting on their debts and I’m sure there must be other agencies that monitor other aspects of a business, for example bitcoin is very volatile with particular moments in which I have seen bitcoin losing 10% in an hour that is a lot so bitcoin and altcoins have risk associated with them but even then I believe in bitcoin and its technology.

The longer one's horizon, the safer bitcoin is. Currently it is very volatile, so it could be nauseating to own for some conservative investors. Among the ways to hedge risk are to diversify as well as to dollar-cost average. By doing these two things one can be fairly comfortable with their bitcoin despite day to day volatility.

They maybe risk but it just all about the flactuations. If you would like to invest watch for the price, by hat you could decide whether you would like to buy or sell bitcoins. Don't worry about btc getting its value to low, it surely rise higher than before

It's 50/50. Price can increase and decrease. It mostly depends on us, the community. We decide how what's the future of Bitcoin and how it is going to develop. I don't consider Bitcoin as gambling like the other people. If Bitcoin was a gambling then everything that includes a risk factor should be also considered as gambling. Even stock exchanges.
This is very true. The only thing that you need to look at is whether bitcoin's price increase or decreases. No one can really predict the changes in the price of bitcoin accurately so be ready to incur some losses if ever and only invest what you can lose.

Many people don't know what risk is going on why their try to answer this question. Because many people watch in television many people catch by the police by an online job this is the primarily risk that every one don't want to be in their self. Bitcoin is not have proof to play safely because in that threat.

I think this is very risky, merely fact that it has huge involvement with money, fraud is certainly spread around in thos ecosystem which may not help you to easily found a trusted site, and I think this is also because bitcoin has its own feature of anonymity, which allow the users ti stay private, all the information regarding them will safe so once you are trick by some hacjers chances of getting the same amount of your money is lesser since it will be hard for you to know them. Dont invest some if you cannot afford to lose some also cause bitcoin investments is a win-win scenario which require you to stay guided and provided with a strong backbone of plans.

the risk is minimal. price mainly increases. Smiley

I agree aside from the uptrend scenario, we can always watch the news and decide which action to take, buy or sell, buy when there is FUD and sell when there is HYPE, that will definitely increase our stash eventually and at the same time multiply our profit.  Meaning Bitcoin risk can be controlled.

I guess there's totally no risk involved in investing bitcoins.Even though we have to keep some things in mind.
We must keep.our wallets safe and never forget it's password and always have a backup. The best option is to have a cold storage which cuts down your risk to zero.
The second most important thing is to avoid spending the bitcoins you invest because the key to good investment is to have patience and withdrawal at the right moment.
There are risks in bitcoin investment and that is the volatility that can lead you from getting negative profits and if you don't manage your bitcoin well then you will end up selling because of the temptation and the second risk is the security because there is a lot of hackers out there that are trying to hack your bitcoin wallet so you need to be careful.
there is no risk at all in investing in bitcoins because the prices of bitcoins are going up rapidly you will never see the prices of bitcoins decreasing and bitcoins have promised their investors that bitcoins will never disappoint you in profit so investing money in bitcoins is not risky.
Really? Can you keep your calm if the price of Bitcoin dump to $1,000 or lower than this price again, maybe 3 digits USD? I do not think you still want to hold your Bitcoin with a big loss like that, only noob traders will hold their Bitcoin and hope Bitcoin can recover its value in someday while others can buy it with cheap price after take profits, maybe I'm aslo a part of these traders in that time Roll Eyes
