Tell me, would this earth still be in existence in 2140? Or would we humans probably destroyed it by then? I mean, look at the way the world is going. Well, it doesn’t even matter because there’s only going to be a super little amount of us who could be alive by then. Some of us have already lived half our lives and would be about maybe 140 - 170 years by then. Even for those birthed right now, they’ll be 115 years at that time, and that’s a lot.
Yes the earth will for certain still be in existence only that there will be so much atmospheric changes that will make life on earth based on the environment to be harsh due to huma activities against nature. 115 years is not 115 days so I don't think anyone of us will be alive 115years from now, not even those birthed today. One thing I have set my mind about life is that let me live for today and leave tomorrow for tomorrow people, in that way it's less worries for me about things I can't on my own change  of what tomorrow holds.

All of us who are on the forum right now will probably not be here in that year because looking at the age gap right now which is likely to be teenagers (who are at university because some people have said they are at university) and even older, im pretty sure that in 2140 we will not be here.

It will take more than a century to reach that year and the average human lifespan won't go much further than that so there's no need to make wishful thinking and just focus on the conditions we are currently living in because I think that's the best.
But on the other hand im quite grateful that in the conditions I live in now I can still be in bitcoin and know bitcoin exists even though it won't be able to be there until the end but i think its worth it because it's still in bitcoin in the early phases when compared to the next 1 century.

I don't need to beat around the bush further because what I want you to know that perhaps you haven't thought to sit and give a careful consideration about, before being bothered about any FUD and FOMO Or the mere thoughts of investing in BTC is this;
* how old would you be by 2140?
* What's your excuse for not investing in owning Bitcoin now?

With the epistle you wrote up there, I don't expect you to ask the first question because you and I will be skeletons in the grave by that time. I hope the person reading this in the year 2140 gives me some credit for saying this because I wouldn't be breathing by then Cheesy
OP, an average life span of normal human is 80 and if you are lucky, you could go to 90, only few numbers 1 out of 10 do reach 100 years without kicking the bucket, with my current age I don't think I need to discuss about my age in 2140 because I will be resting by then.

I have some Bitcoin but not fully gauge as I want to invest and that's because of my financial weight, not every one can afford to invest in Bitcoin and some people you see that didn't invest in Bitcoin is because they don't have money to pay bills, Bitcoin is investment is going to be the last thing they want to try out. In addition, not everyone will invest in Bitcoin even though it comes down to $10k.

Most of us will be dead by that time, that's the reality. I won't be able to witness how bitcoin will go by that year.

Mortality rate is high and the life expectancy nowadays is low. But if fortunately bitcoin and the world is still there by that time, miners will just have to mine for confirming them.

We will never know and satoshis by that time might be in greater value and fortune.

BTC will be fully in existence and all mining activities will have to cease at the time.

How would the network work and transactions get confirmed if there is no mining activity at all? So unless the Bitcoin blockchain's consensus mechanism is changed from PoW to something else, mining has to continue for as long as Bitcoin exists.

Yeah, he is wrong about that. Mining won't completely stop when all 21 million Bitcoins are mined.  They'll just be rewarded with transaction fees instead of new Bitcoins.

* how old would you be by 2140?

I will be over 140 years old if I manage to play tricks with death and avoid dying or simply find the fountain of life and drink the water and stay young and alive forever, but the odds for that are extremely tiny. So I'll probably be long dead by then.

Haha! "How long will you be dead?" is probably more on point.  Unfortunately, only the truly deceased have the answer to that one!

No excuse at all, I do own some of it and I will buy more when I'll feel the time is right.

You need to understand that majority of people in this forum are not lesser than 20 years, this statistics is for forum members who have been in this forum at least 5 years ago. It is important for us to know that the milestone achievement we are soliciting for Bitcoin will stand out for the next generation so we live for the future and it will be great to see our offsprings giving us accolades of our achievements in this digital currency that we are embracing now when we are no more. It is also important for us to know that we may not witness the total adoption of this digital currency due to call of nature but we would be glad that we created something that would stand the test of time.

As regards to your question about how old we would be when the final Bitcoin that will sum up Satoshi's stipulated 21 million Bitcoins, in about 115 years from now when the last blocks of Bitcoin would be mined, I will be celebrating my 147 birthday where ever I found myself, lol.

Am not too sure but I think this topic will rather be suitable in the speculation board. I donno

2140?!?!!  I'm sure I will have been dead for damn near 100 years by then!  Most likely all that will be left of me will be an old pile of bones buried beneath a metal plaque covered in weeds that hasn't been visited in quite some time.  That's if I'm lucky...  Many others will be dust scattered in the wind.  I don't think any of us will still be alive, but who knows...  Maybe Elon will have us all living as code inside some computer by then, or maybe we already are and just don't know it.

OLD! Keep it rental. You know what I am in to so you can get in to it too.

I think most of the people will not be alive in the year of 2140 and nobody knows that what will be the situations in 2140 so enjoy the current life instead of thinking about 2140.
If we invest for taking benefit in 2140 then I think that we will not be able to enjoy our wealth currently and we also don't know that what will be the benefit of such investment for us.

We are unable to know about our life after an hour so how we can imagine a profit from bitcoin after 115 years. Such thing is just waste of time nothing else and saving and investment is necessary but I think that if we plan for such for longer period of time where there is no guarantee of our life is not a good idea.

The halving itself isn't the primary reason for investing.  It's the underlying principle: a predictable reduction in supply over time.  Imagine a precious metal with a finite reserve – its scarcity contributes to its value.  Bitcoin's halving mimics this concept, potentially influencing its long-term price trajectory.

Focusing solely on maximizing personal profits before some distant halving misses the bigger picture.  Bitcoin represents a paradigm shift in financial systems.  Early investors in the internet or personal computers didn't foresee the full scope of their impact.  Similarly, Bitcoin's potential applications beyond a store of value are still unfolding.

A long-term perspective is crucial for Bitcoin investors.  While the next halving might not directly benefit us, it contributes to Bitcoin's overall narrative of scarcity and potential value appreciation.  The true benefit might lie in building wealth that can be passed on to future generations.

It has already been proven and a known fact that none of us who are active on this forum today will be alive to witness the last bitcoin halving, so it's not something new again.

You speak for yourself, I will only be 198, but then I guess that is well into middle age. Smiley
Indeed, I speak for only myself; the right phrase could have been "most of us here" rather than "all of us."

In the part of the world where I'm from, especially in my locality, it's hard to see someone who is aged between 100 and 150 years; they're barely seen.

And if the last block is never going to be mined on the speculated date, then there is enough time for everyone to enjoy their life, both with bitcoin and what they do outside of that.

Surely if we consider occam's razor, and the fact that Satoshis can be further sub-divided, then there can never be a final halving.

Judging from the average life expectancy of people living around the world, I don't think there will still be anyone currently alive to witness 2140, which is approximately 116yrs from today, but only if in the future there wont be super humans with the power to live as long as they like through the use of technology. Lolz. But however, I have just been able to make a brief research about the average lifespan of people living all around the world, and as such, I was able to realize that the average life expectancy for people differs from one continent to another, of which  European & Oceanians happens to be the only continent with the longest average life expectancy in the world of 81yrs for woman and 75/76yrs for male, as shown below.

* how old would you be by 2140?

1. I'm more than 100 years old already at that time, but before I will die (*knock, knock), I will make sure that I will teach my children how to invest, and of course Bitcoin itself. I will make sure as well that they will teach it to their children through telling them the importance of investing in our lives, and how it can change our lives forever.
2. Hmmm, I don't need to excuse myself because I've been investing Bitcoin ever since 2018. It was a small amount though, but at least I'm investing. Smiley

TBH, I'm kind of thinking that this forum will be gone by 2140 already. Maybe people who are alive at that time will use a different forum or a different website to share their opinion there. The technology at that time has evolved that much already that we might see huge developments around Bitcoin and other coins as well or worse, Bitcoin might be non-existent at that time anymore because there's a new coin that has been created that obviously better than Bitcoin. I hope it will not happen, but I'm dead at that time so... I don't want to think too much about it. Cheesy

I think that, realistically, none of us, who are currently on this forum, will even be close to surviving to the day when all BTC is mined. That being said, the most of Bitcoin has already been mined, and we'll likely live to the time when Bitcoin mining becomes insignificant because such small amounts are being mined. So the transition from mining to getting rewards mainly from transaction fees will happen gradually, and I don't think there will be any problems with Bitcoin once it's all mined. Unless, of course, other major events make Bitcoin no longer relevant at that distant point in time.

Every single one of us on this forum right now are millionaires. The amount of Bitcoins we own right now is worth millions by 2140. The truth is that none of us would be able to spend the money on goods and services since 2140 is outside our life expectancy.
Even if we can live till 2140, but my question is can we keep our bitcoins till then? People are planning to sell bitcoin when bitcoin reaches $100k or $1 million in the future to escape from miserable life and enjoy life. And holding bitcoin for 4 years or 10 years is an extremely difficult challenge and not too many people can do it, so never think about holding bitcoin for 50 years or 100 years. That sounds funny.

Also, there is no guarantee that bitcoin can exist or still be used until then, look at the development of technology and I believe that in the future something better than bitcoin will be created go out.

Same reason why we should be spending our funds to enjoy our profit , not to continues
holding our funds forever like early adopters doing now that even if their funds already
reached millions yet they kept holding ,the world is so short that we have to savour every single moment.

No man on this forum will be alive by 2140 and it doesnt bother me for any reason, I plan to stay for many years if God willing but seeing the future is not in my power to deliver, I just want to have a great life and leave a good example behind, money is a must as this will make your life more easier, there is nothing that money can do for you than this.

I have no reason to be out of Bitcoin, and as a matter of fact, Bitcoin turned my life around, the shame, the guilt, all the lookdown on me turned around when I came across bitcoin and today I am a multi millionaire in my currency, I plan to teach my offspring about embracing technologies, not even Bitcoin only, because the future will be more into tech than it is right now.

I have no regrets and I don't plan on having one before I leave this world behind, I promised myself to have a good life and touch the life of others who really deserve it, I might pass down my BItcoin to my kids too because I don't plan on having no Bitcoin behind before returning back to my creator.

Halving experience in Bitcoin makes me to respect it's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, he really programed it to outlive everybody that's alive during the this period of it's adoption. So there's no need wondering if this valuable asset will outlive all of us, so we didn't have to worry about whether Bitcoin will vanish before our eyes, because it has been programmed from it's creation to outlive us. I don't see why at this stage of Bitcoin awareness, why people can still be skeptical about it's value in the future, I believe that in the far future, Bitcoin will take over most fiats, if not all of them.
