I am also a beginner but before I invest, I read whitepaper, how many total supply and now at circulation, whether the developer and team professional or not? and whether many are interested
sometimes I also ask for advice to my friends, better consult first to the experts when investing a large amount

Diversify, invest small amounts in several interesting projects and keep a close eye on their evolution. My advice? Educate yourself about the PoS coins, specially the ones with masternodes like DMD.

the most important thing to consider is its recent price according to history and events, updates as well as the project.

Investing in crypto is a gamble, a game of chance.

Betting on BTC now is as risky as it was in the past. Some gurus claim BTC will reach 40k USD by the end of 2018, others claim this is nothing but a bubble about to burst.

A safe bet would be to diversify your investments, but BTC will always have high value and is definitively here to stay. In my opinion, as more countries regulated and legislate on cryptos, BTC and altcoins will be legitimized.

Therefore, one should put some money on BTC and some money on well chosen altcoins.

Now the question is; how to choose from the plethora of altcoins?

I would take into account a few parameters:

- ICO or no ICO? Premined or not?

- How old is the coin?

- Is it still being actively developed?

- Does it have any real use besides pure pump and dump speculation?

- Does it have an active and large community?

- Is it PoW of PoS?

- Fully functioning wallet?

Evaluated, get as much information as you can, and invest slowly.

For me only time can saydoes this coin is good or not and nothing else
Digital marketing is a very fluctuating one and nobody can predict the future of any digital asset with accuracy. Sometimes it can be more profitable than your expectation and other times you may face unimaginable loss.

The best way to decide whether a coin is worthy of investing or not is to simply look at the present price of that coin, its progress rate and the past value. Try to figure out what people are most interested in.
Exactly! almost all the coins which are there in crypto world are highly volatile in nature and it is really a difficult thing to choose the right coins amongst so many coins. The best practice which can help you serve the purpose is to keep on analyzing the present as well as past trend of different sort of coins. In addition to this, you also need to look at the number of people investing in those coins as well as future prediction of those coins. Analyze the information and then make a decision.

Look at whitepaper of project you want to invest, check his twitter, facebook, changes on github. You will see is team is active
Whitepapers are good way to know if they are good but sometimes there's no hope if those projects are just really going to do something. But still those legit projects are really going to shine in the end when it is pumping slowly. And to those coins that ICO was done and ready to be trade on exchanges, still look on their development and road map. You'll see if those devs are working on their white paper.
sometimes it s good to see the people that are contributing behind that project if they are legit i mean if you are familiar and see them in some successful project for me it is good to see and not just by looking in the whitepaper of the project.
Those good developers are being hired as well by different projects being an adviser or something the same. And with contributes to their success from their past projects it'll make those upcoming projects that they are with to be successful too. And there will be a guarantee that those projects they are working currently will not do something cheeky by the time after the ICOs success.

First: Read their whitepaper. If there is not whitepaper, thats usually a bad sign.
Second: Does it have an active (and serious) community? That usually helps push a coin and market it.
Third: Volume. Does the coin have high volume? If yes, which exchanges is it listed on?

That's usually my first point i check aslwell as the question: Does the coin contribute with any value?

Everyone says trading is easy, you have to pickup a good coin and then invest your money there..Will you guys, please tell me how I know it is a good coin or bad? What certain things I should check about that coin? What types of information helps me to know the coin is good?
First study background.
Who the team, what the product, why somebody should use this coin. Then  look at the coinmarketcap: study historical data, total supply( must be min), volume 24h, market capitalization and so on.
A visionary person must choose a coin which as any future aspects and those who don’t do this thing they often lead to the losing money and the best investors choice nowadays is bitcoin it has future and a strong background as well and there is no hidden monopoly in bitcoin everything is crystal clear and there will be a lot of profit in it so trust it blindly it will give you more than expect and play a role to make it circulate,

That's a good question.

You should always check for -

Historical Data of coin
The project concept behind the coin.
The team involved in the project.
The roadmap and current status of the project accordingly.
Whether coin is part of pump and dump group if yes then join it.
The traded volume of the coin and market capitalism for it.

All these and many more factors will define the goodness of coin if they are on the positive scale. You can't just make it short investment but the longer one to get hold on that particular coin.

I also a newbie when it comes to knowing what is a good coin and i think this will help us to understand some good information on how to choose the right coin. many factors will be considered on how to choose the good coin, that why im always do some research to know the potential of the coin i want to invest with.

thanks for sharing a good information like this.

The easiest way is to look for the coin in the list of top coins. Make sure you are looking at a reliable list. Coinmarketcap.com is one of the good sources of information of this kind. If the coin is included in the top 10, they are for sure perfect choices for investment. In the top 20, still good and very promising. This will even include the top 30 coins. But most of all, try to monitor their projects' development and progress. You will see there what they are preparing and doing.

The first thing im looking who is the team behind the project and by reading their whitepaper can help me to choose what is a good coin.
You are right buddy. Project's background are important especially those who manage it if they are really trusted peoples. Why because there are so many campaigns now are end up scam because of the greediness of the people behind it. Well we must take a look of the coins before we buy it, we must always see how potential it is. Choosing a coins for longterm is not that easy because it produce success or bankrupt to you soon.

I often look at the project's DEV team, coin technology and the community that advocates it. I also look at the coin's roadmap and whitepaper to guide its development. Stay calm and watch carefully before investing.
And dont let emotions get to you.Nice advice right there mate.Well getting to more of the coins status and potential is needed to have a good profit though if OP sees this i have one advice that dont gamble something you cannot afford to loose.

It is a really very difficult task to choosing a currency for investment purposes . It requires hard work and study. There are many coins, where investments can be more risky and more likely to lose money. So if you want to invest in ICO projects, then you would expect to read ico white paper and find out what the projects actually stand for.

You can know a good coin by checking the total amount that was created and the total amount that is in circulation. If  for example 100,000,000 was created and almost all that amount is in circulation then  be careful there will be dumping in waiting to happen. But if about $50,000,000 is in circulation with the rest in reserve than watch that coin will go places.
