Yes using technical terms usually scares the person and there is a possibility that the concerned person might stay away from the thing we want him to know.

So, It would be great to use very familiar language and explain bitcoin technology with some familiar terms like email, sms, etc. As per my experience, demonstration works smoothly while explaining bitcoin to a new person and giving him some satoshis in his fresh wallet is like turning a key for starting his car.

Most dads do really have close minds on which if they think its a bad thing they will stand on their decision until the end that's why we would really have a hard time on convincing them regarding to bitcoin.As in the OP mentioned his dad saw bitcoin is just an another scam that exist online.Therefore the best way to convince or change his view about bitcoin is showing him how to use it as a currency.

In my case I don't really need to convince him or even force him to know what is bitcoin and how is everything bitcoin works with my life. Too bad op is in hard situation just because of those people who are using bitcoin in his place illegally. It is good enough to know that there are bitcoin users near your place but with his case, I will not going to be proud of it for I will be also affected.

Exactly he just his father for what purpose he is using bitcoin. And where he is getting bitcoin. Suppose if he is making bitcoin from gambling then it is tough to convince. I think he will never convince if it happens. If he is making coins from any signature campaign or any other online work, then there is a possibility are there to convince his father.

I think actual is the best to show that bitcoin is real and it is not scam because here in my country when i was telling some friends and relatives they are thinking that bitcoin is scam that honestly they really don't know about it now because of giving them proof and actual way to deposit and withdrawing it they are interested in bitcoin but they are not using it except in my wife that actually addicted in gambling.,

The old people I tried to explain what Bitcoin is to didn't trust it until I went to an ATM, created a wallet for them and helped them deposit money in it. This is what they want - virtual isn't safe for them, and although wallets are virtual too, they feel safer with them.

You can use wi-fi in some cafés for this bitcoin making. There is no chance to your dad change his opinion in this situation.

Why do you need to convince your dad for bitcoin? Convince him for your girlfriend and keep bitcoin within yourself to get the most out of it. Earn adn hold your bitcoin for few years and buy something expensive for your dad to surprise him. Your dad will understand. You will not have to convince him that time.

The best way to convince him is to show him how the price has increased. Maybe even ask him for a few dollars and then return it to him after a price hike to show him it is something worth investing. If that fails then you'd probably just have to use your bitcoins in secret. Like really, with how things are developing now, would you dump your bitcoins because it just happened that your dad don't like it?

My father was a retired employee of the mining company. And he doesn't like to work online. No problems so far, he did not interfere in my business, including bitcoin. you can teach to your dad about bitcoin and then you tell him about the uses and benefits of bitcoin and if they start trading of bitcoin then i am sure they will start to use bitcoin happily and they will be also adopt the bitcoin.

How about this, in addition to teaching him about bitcoin - including all the good and bad things about it, why not create a wallet for him and give him some amount of bitcoins and let him try it out/play around with bitcoin for himself. Show him how to keep and use bitcoin safely and carefully and maybe he will see first hand for himself that Bitcoin can be trusted and safe if used correctly and smartly. It may encourage him to open his mind and do some more of his own research of bitcoin if he owns some of his own.
