if I where you, I would convince my dad that bitcoin is not what he is thinking. How? It's hard to convince old people who already have a lot of experience about scams and things like that. The only choice you have right now is to show him that it is not what he is thinking. In short, don't anything that could make your dad angry using bitcoin. I am sure that it is only now that he is not impressed by bitcoin. Soon, they will believe you. Never ever try to lie, it will just boil their blood more.  Smiley

He is from a different generation.  You will have a hard time to convince him but if you want to persuade anyone ever its best they discover enlightenment by themselves.[...]

Exactly. The more you try to push him towards embracing Bitcoin, the more likely you will fail. If he already holds a negative bias towards Bitcoin, trying to paint it in a positive light might render even more suspicion - especially if you are the child and your dad assumes that you have to learn from him, not the other way around.

Unfortunately you are in an inferior position of power in this case. So sadly the best thing you can possibly do is to take every possible precaution to keep your Bitcoin investment a secret and prevent confiscation/destruction of your wealth by your dad. If you have a really good relationship with him, you can try to come to an agreement: You acknowledge that he does not endorse Bitcoin and thinks it is a scam, but he acknowledges at the same time that you can do seemingly stupid things with your money at your own risk without him intervening.

I don't think it's advisable to try to convince him once the price of Bitcoin has risen, revealing your secret holdings at some point in the future. That likely won't invalidate his silly assumption that Bitcoin is a Ponzi and carries the risk of confiscation/destruction - unlike you have already reached legal age.

i think you are not going to convince his about  such an illegal activity, bitcoin is a good legal activity and if you represent him bitcoin in a good way he will certainly understand you. and hope that he will admire your choice and may be start practicing it by himself.

I tried my best but not found any way to convince him that it is a trusted currency. they are from the old age and they believe only on their older way of money transfer etc. I have continued to work on it and I am sure for some time when he see me all in bitcoin and will see me successful then he will believe on it.

Life is a game, you either play it or get played.
If your dad is having troubles wondering if cryptocurrencies are a scam try showing payment gateways of popular companies to back up the fact that it is convertible to standard rate.

In all honesty if you get a starter supply from faucets it's in your best interest to adjust slowly and show progress.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Here is the story: My dad just found out that I am storing bitcoin and he try to prevent me from using this crypto. This is absolutely the worst situation I have ever had since I started used Bitcoin. I am living in the country which bad guys abuse Bitcoin for illegal activities. Therefore, most of the people here who do not have a proper knowledge about bitcoin believe bitcoin as a stupid, dummy coin or even MLM. My dad is one of them. Any solution to solve this problem ? It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Thanks in advance

My family did the same to me. It is quite understandable that they have the inability to think forward in some cases, because they are taught to earn money from 9-5, save it in the bank and trust no investments.

If he doesn't believe this bitcoin thing, then so be it. It's his loss.
Some people are very set in their ways and they will no believe or even try anything new this is specially true for people of older generations where you could expect to do a job for 40 years and retire but in the current economy you are lucky if you are in the same gig for 4 years.

Well some days happened since this problem happened soo op, can you give us an update, if you were able to explain to your father about what bitcoin does represent and mean, besides the paid histories related and putting bitcoin at the dark currencie, something that fiat does have and no one seems to care to report it anymore.

Well just tell your dad what's you have been doing with your bitcoins. That because of bitcoin you earn money with the help of your own. And you can proudly say that because of this coin you don't need to give you money.

And tell your dad how bitcoin works.
I think making money from bitcoin will not give credence to your father that bitcoin currency is safe and reliable, due to the fluctuation will always haunt and whenever prices could fall so low

Long before there was bitcoin, people committed crimes. Many years ago people bought arms to kill other people. People always make wrong judgments about things they do not like.

Your father does not like you to make money online, he wants you to spend more time in real life and not to be in front of the computer. I'm not trying to say " I have a crystal ball ", but as a third world person I am, I'm telling you what most people in poor countries think.

In poor countries do people have a hard time accepting things like "Make Money with the Internet" if you tell someone from a poor country that you make money on the internet? This person discriminates  you, he will probably tell you that you are a crazy person and that you should get a job in real life.

Your father is using the argument that bitcoin this association of crime to get you away from the virtual world, he thinks you will not have a life in real life because you believe that you can make money on the internet.

If your father was a person who works with information technology, a software engineer for example. What do you think would happen if you told him you use bitcoin and show him how to use it? Your father would accept without problems! Why would he accept? Because you two are from the same world (Virtual World)

People understand each other when they share the same pain, the same experience of life.

My dad is one of them.

Because your father has no interest in the virtual world.

Any solution to solve this problem ?

You should not tell him anything, you should make that choice and deal with the consequences. Are you doing something wrong? No! You have chosen a different path, a path that only people who go through it can understand

It is quite hard though because I am still a teenager so it is extremely difficult to persuade him
Thanks in advance

If you were an adult, the result would be the same and you will never be able to convince your father unless your father is interested in the virtual world, in technology. Then the scenario will be different. But if he has no interest in the virtual world, in technology? Do not try to persuade him, because it will be useless. Make your life and lie that you do not use bitcoin.

I have a similar situation with you but it's between me and my mom. I have tried telling her (in a well mannered way) that bitcoin is the future, it can be an investment in someway, trading also, and a way to transact a payment. Since my mom is already a senior citizen, it is hard to let them know and understand current updates and situations with the world. Just be calm and explain.

That's a very difficult thing to because when elders form a position, then they stick to it which might not change unless there is a greatbconcinving argument in that direction. So I will only suggest you just assure hiim you won't go the direction of those guys and then find some guys who use it for good things and show him if that will work, if it doesn't, then be more secretive.

Maybe you should tell and explain directly on the bitcoin, ask your dad to know when you use bitcoin. Indeed, many people using bitcoin to the crime, and it's a fact that can not be avoided. But you need to convince your dad that bitcoin is not always for the crime. Tell your dad how you manage your bitcoin, I'm sure if you succeed your dad would understand.

Why do you need to convince your father doing anything? Roll Eyes
He is old enough to make decisions for him self. And to know if it will be a good or bad one by now.

Probably he don't have much knowledge about bitcoin so tell him to read a lot of stuffs about bitcoin, blockchain, view some experts videos on youtube, have a lot of content there.

At least you are trying to save some money, better than waste all your parents money in bullshits.

Reading stuff about bitcoins can even be more confusing at times due to the technological terms. It's best to show him how it's done by demonstrating it

You cant convince someone even your dad to trust bitcoin if they are not interested to it. Maybe someday if bitcoin is really popular. Other people dont trust on anything that strange to them. Maybe give him some of it and let him experiece it. Maybe he'll change his mind. Also give him some idea how to use it.

It's true, some people are already with their minds closed to things they don't want to know about. Bitcoin is trustful and after some days looking and reading about, it's possible to reach to this conclusion, but many people still don't have interest on it, because their minds just follow what media says. If it's not on the television, it's not important for them.

Only time will reveal the facts about Bitcoin to many people around the world.
