These days creating a cryptocurrency exchange is simply a hard thing to achieve. Because, even the top listed altcoins exchanges were undergoing pressure situation due to the increased regulatory acts being imposed by different government authorities in their respective countries.

You have two choices:
1) Become a world-class programmer
2) Pay Alphapoint $200k and 40% of your profits

Good luck!

Where did those numbers came from?

They are close to the real.

Yes numbers seems legit, I just wonder where they came from?

I talked to these guys at the Chicago conference: http://www.modulusglobal.com/

They mention a ~$20K package would do the trick. What's everybody else's assessment?

IMO You will probably pay 20k for consulting alone.

My assessment is much more depressing:

Half a million from the top of my head. Million is more likely if you starting with money alone (no office, no hardware, no lawyers, nothing but bank account). This money will last you ~6-10 month of developement. After that you will end up with maintenance cost of another 500k/year.

That includes hiring full time professionals (programmers, admins, security professionals), building and maintaining infrastructure etc.

If you were thinking of buying some software and installing the website, wallets, databases and transaction engines all on the same server, think again.

I can tell you that just the cost for DDOS and IDS/IDS protection for a financial web application start at upwards of $2,000 a month for one site. You need at least 2 sites that are geographically separated for disaster recovery. That doubles the cost to $4,000/month minimum just on protection. On top of that you still need to pay for the servers and software.

I would advise against beginning an exchange without prior knowledge and education. If things don't work out it will become a disaster. We have seen it happen before, more than once...

Too cheap for an exchange that is going to be handling volume.
