Well, for starters, if you don't have a good memory, get a diary or a secret notebook with all the information and restrict access to it. Also don't use too many wallets. Well, never trust people who are actively interested in the contents of your wallets.

Don't be careless to give your all security keys, phrases and the two authentication. Because wallets are safe if you don't make any foolish moves.

You should use keystone file if using mew wallet and split up many different wallets to reduce the risk. If you have too much money you should invest in cold wallets to secure your money.

Wallets are encrypted so that it cannot get easily hacked. However, use strong password and don't use your password everywhere and don't let anyone know about this.

To ensure the safety of your funds in the wallet. You must follow their safety tips. Especially if you are using myetherwallet.com

You will read this if you visit the site of myetherwallet.com
1. Please take some time to understand this for your own safety. 🙏 Your funds will be stolen if you do not heed these warnings.
2. We cannot recover your funds or freeze your account if you visit a phishing site or lose your private key.
means that you need to be very careful at your own private key.

How To Protect Yourself from Phishers
Phishers send you a message with a link to a website that looks just like MyEtherWallet, EtherDelta, Paypal, or your bank, but is not the real website. They steal your information and then steal your money.

Install EAL or MetaMask or Cryptonite by Metacert or the MyEtherWallet Chrome Extension to block malicious websites.
Always check the URL: https://www.myetherwallet.com.
Always make sure the URL bar has MYETHERWALLET INC in green.
Do not trust messages or links sent to you randomly via email, Slack, Reddit, Twitter, etc.
Always navigate directly to a site before you enter information. Do not enter information after clicking a link from a message or email.
Install an AdBlocker and do not click ads on your search engine (e.g. Google).

How To Protect Yourself from Scams
People will try to get you to give them money in return for nothing.

If it is too good to be true, it probably is.
Research before sending money to someone or some project. Look for information on a variety of websites and forums. Be wary.
Ask questions when you don't understand something or it doesn't seem right.
Don't let fear, FUD, or FOMO win over common sense. If something is very urgent, ask yourself "why?". It may be to create FOMO or prevent you from doing research.

How To Protect Yourself from Loss
If you lose your private key or password, it is gone forever. Don't lose it.

Make a backup of your private key and password. Do NOT just store it on your computer. Print it out on a piece of paper or save it to a USB drive.
Store this paper or USB drive in a different physical location. A backup is not useful if it is destroyed by a fire or flood along with your laptop.
Do not store your private key in Dropbox, Google Drive, or other cloud storage. If that account is compromised, your funds will be stolen.
If you have more than 1-week's worth of pay worth of cryptocurrency, get a hardware wallet. No excuses. It's worth it. I promise.

First of all save your PVT keys at many places but where no one can reach. Try to secure them on cloud storage with a proper password protection. This way if you lost your phone or laptop where you had your wallet and keys, you still can access your wallet and transfer fund immediately. Don't rely much on online wallets. They are most prone to hacking. Since, online wallets or apps are easy to use, people tend to prefer it. But keep your maximum holdings on a safer offline/hardware wallet. In crypto sphere, you are responsible for the safety of your funds.

In order to secure your coins, you have to first start with the security of your computer. Use a strong antivirus and beware of phishing websites.

Most importantly, don’t give your private keys to anyone and including airdrops.

So the first and foremost thing for you is to keep your private keys safe. Look at private keys as your wallet. If you lose them, then there is not a single person on this planet that can help you recover that. People have lost hundreds of bitcoins because they lost their wallet keys.
Second, do not share it with anyone ever. Not even with your friends. If you do that, they will be able to access your wallet from anywhere in the world.

At first you have to see which coin you are using. There are many different rules for different coins. But the main thing is you always have to keep offline when you are not doing transactions it will protect you from the hackers.
