in my opinion, it is a tough task to find a new altcoin to invest in. I consider it high risk to invest in new altcoin (s). However, there are things I will look out for in a potential new altcoin: Team members reputation and experience in similar projects, success and status; Purpose/aim of establishing the token/coin; Token utility; Future relevance in the crypto space; Technology behind the token; Listed exchanges or anticipated listing dates; Partnerships, etc. I will look out for the above mentioned attributes if I have to invest/hold a new altcoin. I will advice that for long term, only hold Bitcoin, Ethereum  or older altcoins. Avoid holding new altcoins (meme coins included) for long term and only hold what you can afford to loose.
Yes, the chances of losing money from new projects are very high these days. When a new project is launched many times considering the overall aspect of the coin it seems that the coin is good but later the coins are not successful. But not all, two-a project will be a good success if you can analyze well with experience, then you can invest in new projects. I like bitcoin and ethereum coins for long term holding but there are still many top tier old coins that didn't react even during bitcoin's peak. But I think there are some top level coins like Solana, BNB which could be good investment in the upcoming Bullran.

I also think the same as you, not everyone will be able to stop the altcoin they hold from continuing to decline drastically, every time there is a new step we can learn about the positive things in trading which are really needed in crypto. In general, in order to be able to stop altcoins from dropping, each coin held must have: strong fundamentals research regularly have a solid team have future goals because it is really needed in developing coins to the top level.

Staking is also a good way to make money, especially if the platform actually brings in that kind of money

Especially if you have a Launchpad item and we can participate by holding tokens that have been determined by the exchange and staking. I think the risk is small and in terms of profit it is also suitable but it depends on the amount we stake.

There is still a big risk to participate on Launchpad because you cannot participate without buying some of the coin and sometimes even after buying the chances of successful listing is not even certain because there are so many people who has fallen victim of launchpad and till now there investment on it become waste, so there is no investment that risk is not involved.

The major work here should be finding them and nor even holding.

Certainly, the key is to find such coins that can transform your fortune if you hold them during the period when they are in development stage and building  real life utility of their products. I think such gems can likely be found in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Social DEFI and Real World Assets (RWA). I believe that these sectors hold the potential to be the driving narrative of cryptocurrencies market in the near future.
Unfortunately scammers also know this information and they are going to release most of their coins on those fields, hoping to scam as many people as possible, and the worst part is that they will succeed as many people will be unable to tell apart good projects from the bad ones, so I really think that once the price of bitcoin begins to grow up at an accelerated rate, the number of scams we see on this market will go through the roof.

It might make sense, but that's if we apply it and prepare to lose what we have. But I prefer to get new coins in a safe way without having to spend money to buy them because most of them are high risk. So while there are many alternatives to get them for free why invest in them. Hunting for more coins and storing more of them might pay off (albeit uncertainly) especially meme coins as they are very risky.

Reward: 10M Shen (Approx. 5000 BNB) Bounty
I dint think holding altcoins is a good idea especially if you plan to hold for long, well I don't mean all but Im referring to a vast majority of memecoins that has no value or less potential to last long as a project, when investing In memecoins its best you play smart and leave as sone as you get some profits.

The major work here should be finding them and nor even holding.

Exactly, and in addition I think to an extent alt is mainly used for trading purposes though some alt like Etherum and BNB can be hold to an extent cause after The Golden coin Bitcoin it's Etherum and BNB. And I believe in the nearest future Etherum and BNB are going to be great that is, if the team are pushing hard and has target to meet however, the best to way invest in this two alt and hold is when the price has dip.

Each person has his own way, skills, and tools for doing his research. The four steps you mentioned @OP in your topic are undoubtedly effective for researching and succeeding in holding altcoins. However, the research should include many other aspects, such as the whitepaper, roadmap, examining the project team's previous experiences, and considering expert opinions and recommendations to educate ourselves with more information and insights about the token project.

In my opinion, it is better to set a goal that the price of the token will reach for buying and selling rather than specifying or predicting a specific time because my expectations for the time and year that I specified may be incorrect, and this is due to the nature of this volatile market. Long-term holding is one of the safest choices. I agree that impatience, not giving time to follow project and market developments, not accessing all hidden information about the project and its token, and not maintaining psychological balance can lead to negative results. Naturally, altcoins go through periods of stagnation and growth, so it's best for every investor not to sell at a loss, wait, and ignore any FUDs being promoted to drive investors out of the market.

You have made several excellent points regarding the comprehensive approach needed to research promising projects in altcoiins sector and developing strategy to invest in selected ones wisely. I think instead setting the price targets for buying and selling, it would be more appropriate to use Dollar cost average (DCA) strategy for accumulating selected coins. This approach ca help the keep the cost of investment comparatively lower. For selling it is a personnel choice to make decision to book profit, whether your portfolio has doubled or tripled, or rather use technical indicators to identify overbought position on weekly or monthly charts to yield optimum returns. In short, choosing a new Altcoin for the next growth season is very important, requiring patience and research from you. But besides that, determining a reasonable holding period is equally important. If you hold too early, you may have to endure losses for a period of time, and this is the time for many people lose patience leads to losing stock before that Altcoin really enters its growth cycle. Ignoring temporary losses to hold until achieving results is a difficult job, not everyone can do it when holding Altcoins, because often during this period there will be a lot of Fuds to depress the price. Therefore, choosing a reasonable holding time will eliminate these negative psychological effects, making it easier for you to hold.

Yep. It is very difficult to find out potential altcoins from new projects. Most of the new altcoins are just pump-dump coins, they won't survive a long time. Even if we want to invest in new altcoins, it is better to invest in them for a short term holding. It is true that holding them for a long term will be too risky, many of them are delisted from exchanges after few months.

Analyzing new altcoins should be based on a comprehensive research. The reputation of the team members is crucial, unfortunately it sometimes never guarantees anything. The information of the team members can be fake, I have found it on some crypto projects. For the other aspects, it can be clearly seen in the WP (whitepaper). However, we must be very careful because it may be very convincing when it is written in the WP. Sadly, when it is applied in the reality, it sometimes can be very different with everything written in the WP.

This is my process for finding an Altcoin (new project) for long-term investment
It is almost impossible to find new altcoins for long term investments, altcoins are generally short term projects, and that's most especially the new projects that lack any utility. I am afraid that one can go through all the steps you mentioned in your OP and still end up buying a scam/worthless project and that's because it is pretty difficult to find a new project that is sustainable for the long term.

Having said that, because of the lack of utility in altcoins, i buy only Bitcoin, but if i must advise people on altcoins, i'd tell them to purchase altcoins that have been in the market for sometime and already have a "strong" community.

Yes I agree with you on this there is no other coin that holds long term potential except Bitcoin because it has a more solid foundation and it performance determines the performance of other coins, other coins are just for short term profits maximization and at most time staying longer in most other coins except Bitcoin can lead to losses. Ot is only Bitcoin that has hodling potentials.

I agree with points 1 and 2, but I don't agree with point 3. Determining the purchase price by comparing with similar projects seems less effective because even though the project has the same concept (for example the same L2, game, etc.) the community, investors, hype, or other factors that can influence the price are different. For me, I determine when to buy by analyzing fundamental factors and looking at the market situation.

the most important thing right now is to analyze all members well with seriousness to achieve the maximum that has been planned by doing research to make sure everything. Likewise, choosing altcoins is not an easy thing with a lot of consideration for the future. I don't recommend you to give in to the market because there are phases. Significantly, many factors can influence everything, including attracting investor interest and investing must be planned from the start.

I think the most of the members here will say that first you need to research how important the project is to the investors and whether it is actually a scam project. In fact before the bull market came, there were many projects that were dead in the past, some now suddenly raised hype just to attract investors. Days that show the project was complete plan to come to market with the intention of earning from its investors. There are some new companies who slowly drop their prices after entering the market and at some point they become scams. Actually crypto can't confirm you so you have to be sure from your own experience.

Staking is also a good way to make money, especially if the platform actually brings in that kind of money

Certainly, staking can be profitable opportunity, particularly when the platform is generating significant revenue from transactions fees. I have found that Dymension (DYM) is one of those staking platforms paying attractive staking rewards, along with potential for additional of airdrop rewards from periodically.

More on social media like Twitter, there are many new projects or coins that have great potential and do your own research to be more sure. It's just how we process search words and follow Twitter accounts that often carry the belief of providing good information. Twitter, Telegram are very adequate in the current season when altcoins are good

Just trust your instinct and have a lot of patience. If you really want to do it effectively, research some potential coins that you really want. By the time you bought a certain coin do not bother about the market, just ignore the downs it really happens and just set the amount you want when you think you earn a good profit.

If you invest in any coin after a extensive experimentation and have choosed a top coin then don't worry about the price Fluctuations because top coins does not goes down forever and they never loss their complete value. In case of altcoins which are newly emerged you should be worried about dip as they are strenuous to trust.

You can earn during Fluctuations only when you have forbearance but if you become afraid of lossing when the market get dumps then i don't think that you will continue your investment till the winning of your target. Solana is more preferable coin these days and if someone don't have invest in it then he is not serious about taking profit because only this coin show more worthiness among altcoins.

I mean, don't underestimate research, even if in the end when misfortune comes and ends up in a scam project, at least we have done research first and not become blind investors. If you just do research you still get stuck in a bad project, what else if you don't do research? did you get the point?
Your point is valid that it is always prudent to conduct through research and exercise due diligence before deciding to put your hard earned money in any venture. Returning to the subject  of the opening post (OP) there are some coins based on current market dynamics , such as AVAX, DOT and Solana posses the potential to not only reach their previous all time high (ATH) but also surpass it, due to their recognition in the market as low cost chains with progressive features. These coins are worth holding for long term to yield substantial gains.

Research is the most important thing in choosing an investment, meaning you must first understand in depth what you want to invest in. When it goes to scam or loss, you will only blame yourself and it will be a lesson for the future.

Regarding Avalance (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT) and Solana (SOL) I have no doubts about those assets, because they're one of the lowest cost networks ATM and have a good ecosystem, so I think they will be assets- assets to be taken into account in the next few years, especially Solana (SOL).
