Earning merit on this forum is based on contributing positively and meaningfully to the community, not "luck".

To increase your chances to get merit follow this steps:

  • Create valuable posts and help others.
  • Stay informed and share timely information.
  • Build a positive reputation over time.
  • Be patient; it takes time to earn merits.
  • Follow forum rules and be respectful.

Did you compile this whole post just in a bid to get some few merits? If yes, then that's actually the greatest mistake of your life...
Merit isn't gotten by luck; you'd need to read intensively to be able to formulate, encode or recommend any ideas of whatever source. Knowledge is never a waste,...I guess that's pretty much the whole sense behind the introduction of merit.

As funny as it may sound, merits are gotten by luck also. There is actually nothing in the world we're luck totally does not exist. Merits is mainly gotten when you write a quality post that adds value to the forum. This can be a post that teaches, answers questions and lots more. But you will still agree with me that if Mr A and Mr B are making consistently good posts at same level, the merit count of Mr A might be higher than Mr B, this is where luck comes to play. Some persons are naturally lucky and they are easily loved and helped.

If you just check out the pinned threads on this board you will find out all the details about merit and frankly telling it's not about easy or hard but if you are contributing well and have sufficient knowledge then you will get merits and be recognized with time.So try to learn more and exchange knowledge as much as possible but for some it's fast while others can take time to rank up but keep working and focus more on gaining knowledge.

If you are productive with organic posts on the forum, then you will earn merit for those posts. Merit is awarded to a post that provides a very helpful detail to the OP or another member who asked a question. Also, if you have some experience and come across someone who has passed wrong information to the community and you quote the post and make the right correction, you might still earn merit. Earning merit in the forum is not by luck or chance; it's by your level of knowledge on the forum, so if you want to earn merit, you have to be open to learning from others, and you can share your experience on the process that can earn you merit.

l have been in this forum for sometime now and l have heard about the members getting merit for level upgrade, and something like how many merit someone got within 120 days. Considering my observation and what l have heard, it is a very vital requirement that is difficult to get. l want to ask about how someone can get merit, is it something that can be gotten through posting useful content, or is it something that can be gotten by chance or luck?
merit can be earn when you make posts that are interesting, useful, quality and maybe also unique - as simple as that. But some users pretend to be newbies and start hunt for merit with their topics and posts - some of them even actually grab the attention of other users with their skills and abilities and tend to get involved in topic drama.

You seem different from others - I mean usually newbie tend to create topics and post on beginner boards, whereas you posted something on a different board that seems to have declared yourself as someone who has enough knowledge about it. Even I am tend to believe that; this is the opinion of experienced users instead newbie.

The price of bitcoin will go up and more after halving which is coming up next year, but l can not say the exact price. Considering what has happened before, it might reach $120,000 or more, but it is something that has to do with scarcity and demand. All things being equal, the price is expected to go very high by late next year.

This questions is already talked many years ago here in our community.honestly the best thing To in to earn merits is Stop asking about it all you need to so is to prove that you are worthy enough to be given in short you need to contribute by sharing your ideas and thoughts. Also Op you need to follow the rules and regulations in order to receive merits don't try to copy someone's work and claim it that your the owner it's prohibited.
I think it will not be a sin to talk about merits because, just to explain myself, listen to my story. When I came here and started to work in bounties, I had this belief that this signature work is for the VIP members of this forum and merit is not free; instead, we might have to purchase it from the forum owners. Obviously, I had not as much knowledge about forums and crypto as I do now.

Well, when I visited my local board, about which I came to know after a long time, I never posted instead just read other people's posts and what they were saying and talking about, and one day I found something useful and relevant to my knowledge and I made a post, and then I got my very first merits, and I was like in the sky, and my thoughts changed, and then I realised that merits are not something that needs to be bought; instead, we will earn them on the way of learning new things, and till now I have learned a lot just because of sharing the learning I had, asking questions, sharing my ideas, and querying other's answers.

That means I simply tried to remain engaged in topics and threads, and TBH, it's really fun when you answer someone, and if, by mistake or due to a lack of knowledge, you are not able to provide the right answer, then your answer will be corrected by some other members. This means this platform is the ultimate guide and full of live support (metaphorically used to explain that we can get answers to our queries like we do in support of some platforms).

It is a good thing to ask questions and that's what OP had did and it is way better then the way I took the meaning of merits here and what are its sources.

No getting merits is not difficult unless you are not able to share some useful or valuable content here. For example, I am going to mention a thread here which I also recently found and once you will open any of the topics mentioned as in lists in that thread you will find the OP's of those topics have received a lot of merits even some got 100 or 200 and more too. Because they have shared valuable, real, and self-tested knowledge.

Which is not just useful but also increases the trust of other people or members on them. Let's say if you have the potential or have great knowledge in any micro field of the big field of Crypto then start writing about it and those who will like it might appreciate your efforts with merits but that's not for sure.

And you can rank easily and will be supported if you are active in your local board as I have seen a lot of local boards helping newbies to settle here even besides the merits you will learn a lot and earn a lot but you have to be eligible for that. And you can become eligible once you have the knowledge of experience. You can also earn by sharing useful content too which must not be as valuable as those in the threads.

This is a forum where people come to learn mostly, and if you are sharing a content that has value and has the potential for someone to learn from, you will likely get merit from the person who is learning from you, or from someone who understands the importance of the content you have shared.

You can also be lucky and receive merits by chance, but that is in a case where a merit source in the board where you have posted, just decides to distribute merits randomly to forum users there, but it does not always happen.

The best way to get merits is to share useful contents.

Maybe you think it's difficult because you are new to the forum so don't understand all of it, continue to provide informative posts if someone likes your post that's where you can get merit.

Merit system no luck this is not gambling, you are more working hard contributing to the forum then slowly you can get merit. All it takes is hard work not luck.

Another one I believe with another opinion here!

When I first got into this Forum I struggled and sometimes I ask myself how can I make a quality post or something to draws attention? With time it became clear that I need to strife harder without holding back, and one thing is never to always expect merit on everything you say or post e.g you post good morning, how are you and you keep expecting merit, it doesn't work that way.
Your information must be of good standard.
And getting merit doesn't have to do with luck because I don't believe in luck. The only person responsible for you to get merit is you OP, everything is in your hands just make use of what you have.

To get merits in this forum it is important not to open repetitive threads asking questions that have been asked and answered a lot of times, and that you can easily find out at the click of a button, because otherwise you run the risk of ending up in the ignore lists of people who can give you merits.

I think you might as well ask the other related question that has been asked and answered on the forum a bunch of times, something like:

how earn btc from online???

l want to ask about how someone can get merit, is it something that can be gotten through posting useful content, or is it something that can be gotten by chance or luck?
Both if you ask me.

How much merit you receive is depending on the decision of the users (with sMerits) reading your posts, not you. So you need to make quality posts, initiate discussions and make meaningful comments in order to get their "attention" and earn your merits. This becomes easier if you have a local board too where you are active and there are merit sources in that local board.

Hence dont bother too much about merit but on your quality of posts. Merits will come on their own when you least expect them and dont let this dishearten your involvement in the forum. Wink

Wow! On meta!! It’s just wow as to how (OP) chose meta for this out burst of newbie tradition.

I wouldn’t want to repeat on what’s been said by responses from previous users but, meta doesn’t fit for this sort of discussion at OP, beginners and help would be more accommodating and you could easily move it there with the bottom left corner of your screen where you could find move/lock.

If the purpose of the thread is archived which I think could be the case, move and lock or lock and let it slide. Otherwise, you could just try out some of the advices you’ve got but, I guess you still want to make your first merit and then tell us all about it and how it made you feel.

In between, try to blend with the forum.

l want to ask about how someone can get merit, is it something that can be gotten through posting useful content, or is it something that can be gotten by chance or luck?

This part of your post already gives you the answer that you seek, although according to some merit is subjective  there’s no formula behind getting merits here in the forum but the main thing is that you just have to post things that are relevant to the discussion you’re partaking in.

Sometimes, you might make a post in which you feel it’s very constructive and it’s worth meriting but to others it might just be as shitty as others they have read previously while some other times when you come to the forum or check your notification bot to see if you’ve been mentioned you’ll notice that a post you never thought would give you merits turns out to haven provided you with more merits than the one you had hoped for. So as long as you’re not spamming and or trolling and you keep making constructive comments you’ll surely be noticed one day and the merits will starts to flow in, like I said earlier no formulas for it.

I must tell you that the merit system has noting to do with someone's luck. If you contribute good information to the forum and at the same time members find your contribution worthy then they will appreciate that posts of yours with merits. The merits can be earned by those members only who actively contribute in this forum and they don't really care much about merits when the create posts. If you create posts solely to earn merits then I must tell you that you won't get any merits because the merits are only for the posts that are helpful to the other members of the forum.

If you have enough knowledge about a certain aspect of a thing and you share your knowledge with other members in the forum of a thread or a reply to a current thread then you may get merited for sharing that information. You should go through the comments of other reputed members and you'll learn everything about the merit system. I recommend you to lock this thread because your question has been answered fully.

You're too young on the forum to be looking for merits, I just went through your profile and it's just a one page post history and from what I can see you post haven't been productive to the forum. Let me ask you this question, do you feel any of your posts has been useful to the users that came across them. The answer is no and that's why you haven't been merited. Not trying to discourage you but how to get merits starts from the type of content that you're delivering. The more productive your posts get the higher the chances of your posts getting merited.

Since your time on the forum, haven't you seen a posts that was merited, if you haven't seen one then probably you're posting on the wrong section of the forum that's always full of spammers which meriters tend to avoid reviewing those sections of the he forum because it usually a waste of time. Merit is vital that's why it isn't cheap and easy to get and be less concerned about merits you have in the last 120 days because it's going to take you alot of months before that should be paid attention to (merit in last 120 days is only important when you're looking for a signature campaign to join).

From your question, it now seems you are more interested in ranking up than anything else. Could this be your desire to join a campaign that is making you bothered or you are just generally concerned and feel your growt is slow here? Firstly, before you think of the side benefits like signature campaigns and all that, this is a space where information and ideas are shared so if you focus on getting merits alone, it'd push to keep creating threads that do not add content or value, rather it's only adding to your post count.
When you make informative posts and being involved like @Nwada supplied, those merits will come in. Sometimes, you get merited for a post you least expected would fetch you one.
Another thing to note is that these merits are like rewards for a good job well done and since nothing good comes easy, you'd have to earn it.
