You can make friends by being honest to yourself that life is not always go for your side. Making a difference in everybody can make you have friends not according to your looks but according to your characters. Honesty is the best policy.

I understand your feelings, same here. But you know, as long as you have 1-2 friends this really matters. I think you are not looking for a friend, maybe you mean a group of friends which you can do crazy things with, try to approach first, cause maybe they will think you'd rather want to be alone. Show them that you want to join them it will work
I would say just be yourself but that never worked for me. It is hard for me to make friends so I only have 2 outside of family that I am close with.

Don't start conversations with over saturation or inappropriate topics; that'll sink you fast. Instead focus on asking them how they're day was and listening to them, people will tell you a lot about them if you let them and that'll open a door for conversation.
