That is a common mistake to the most gamblers. It is really tempted while we saw money in our pocket. To set limitations and self-control is very hard when don't take it seriously. It is very to commit of having self-control but we can make it little by little until we finally reach our goal. It is somewhat in a hard way but surely we can make it if we want things to happen.

Honestly, it really hard to resist the excitement feelings when luck is on ones side when gambling, setting an actual target either is also not what ones needed in such state because the game could change anytime but what's needed is not to be greed, been discipline and listen to your heart when it said to let go or else the target technique will fail you.

Not all would really have that kind of emotion-less while you are doing gambling yet this is the primary thing that

would really be mainly affected along the way specially seeing our funds lost while we play.So it do really matter on
how a certain individual is really good on controlling everything not only on emotional but also into decision making itself.

After you have won for some time and have a nice profit there comes a time when you start losing and that is where you are the most vulnerable and should stop betting for a while until you are not emotional anymore. The reason is you get upset for losing some of your profit, then you start reasoning that you can make up the loss and still have the same profit. You think that since you are losing profits its ok to keep going b/c you are not playing with the money you started but with the profit. Then you start making aggressive bets that you wouldn't have made with the money before the profit. If you end up losing those aggressive bets you get angry and increase the bet amount again something you wouldn't have done before..Then before you realize it you lose your whole profit and then that makes you even more upset and vulnerable, and you say to yourself oh well it's my play money I don't mind losing it I made a profit before and you keep betting and lose that too. What I used to do is after I make a profit, once I start losing I stop for a week then come back if i Keep losing stop for another week and it helped me maintain my cool. There have been times where with the losses I have been at a plus for months, and then I have had more losing than winning for months, but I have always taken a break between the losses and has helped me keep my cool and not get emotional.

You need to become a borderline sociopath to be a really good gambler. Set yourself targets & try not to have emotions whilst gambling. Make sure you know when to get out & that means when you’re doing well not just when you’re on a loser.

Very insightful! These tips would definitely help individuals suffering from addiction to winning. But you need to be reminded as well that everything starts from discipline and self-control. Without these essential factors, people may be more prone to betting their winnings and eventually losing them slowly. If I may add, I think it would also be beneficial if people would set a limit to their allowable bets per day and secure them on an external paper wallet.


Experiencing a winning-streak satisfies the mind completely, hindering your judgement and risking everything for money albeit dangerous if you do not have any self-discipline. Knowing your goals and setting a maximum allowable bet can solve this problem.

My solution was to create a paper wallet and withdraw some funds to it. I wasn't able to withdraw that easy from the paper wallet so j had saved a lot in a few months. ;-)

Well that's somewhat an extreme but surely, having to access that fund from a multi-sig wallet is definitely going to put a damper on your excitement. The thing is, you would still need discipline. Your cosignee isn't hovering around you to poke you to make sure to send any winnings.

We can never know whether we are in the middle of a winning/losing streak or not. We can talk about streaks only post factum. Everyone would stop playing knowing that he/she is in the middle of losing streak, and would continue betting being in the middle of winning streak, but that's kind of knowledge we can never have. So, forget about streaks and concentrate on your balance. If it's two times higher than before starting - quit for the day. If it became zero, quit for the day either, don't deposit more. That's it.

For me it's okay to set up high goals as long as it's doable.
I'm using just a simple technique, which is to stop when I hit the target and we need discipline and focus in order to do that effectively.
There's no room for greedy people in gambling as we will never be successful if we have that kind of bad attitude.

I know what you talking about here, and let me tell you sometimes it's really hard to resist the feeling of excitement when we're in winning streak. There are just one way to keep your winnings safe, it`s to stand up and leave when you win amount you are satisfied with. Don`t set up some high goals, making maximum 50% of your amount is not a high goal, x2 and higher is a high goal, to be clear on that.

We have that experience, and I am sure that not just both of you have the same experience. In gambling, we all have a greediness experience, and the difference is we can learn how to control our greediness, so we don't attract to deeper in the gambling games. Once we lose control of greediness, we cannot hold ourselves back to stay away from gambling, and we will go to the deep of gambling.

We need to protect ourselves in gambling so we can hold our emotion, especially greediness, and we can hold ourselves for using more money to bets. If we can do that, then we can play gambling without the worry of losing control.

That is human greed. I've also experienced that when I am gambling very often few years ago. When I'm having winning streaks it's very difficult to stop because your mind is tempting you to bet more. If you let your greed consume you, it will also eat your winnings together with your capital.

My higher preference in gambling is sports betting. Most of the time I go with the lower odds on games between two teams. This way we can have increased winning percentage compared to the higher odd selection. With this what we get as profit is low, and with this it is always good to bet on further games the amount that is won. If I haven't won I used to stop gambling for the day which seems to be the best way to stay away from excitement and be on the safe winning.

I think you have a very good strategy of giving yourself some time before gambling again after a very good winning. However, my strategy is gambling with very small amount and spread it over many opportunities. At this if I win few I will be in good profits and if that happens sometime I will just invest with my profits and safe my capital and I adopted this strategy last two weeks.

Bankroll, it is right but if someone play all money and aim for big profit, it can make him lose all money instanly. All depend on how we control ourself even with low capital, if play little by little,(usually at the end we still lose all money) but maybe can enjoy the game.

Agree, I have experienced this so that I have no control and assume I will easily get a victory, study for myself and not be overpowered by greed because it will make depression because losing everything will definitely happen if we have no control.
