could i use pgp to sign a message usign my address as public key for the receiver..?

No, Bitcoin Addresses (256 Bit) and PGP-Keys (usually 2048+ bit now) have different key-lengths.
thank you for your time, and your answer

Yes it does allow signing.
I don't use blockchain.info much, but the steps above do work for latest version too ! I checked yesterday only.

Done, thanks!

-snip-
I believe it will only work for the imported addresses, try to make new address and sign a message with it!
If you make a new address in the new blockchain also do not work for sign message. It actually work for imported address. I do not know why the blockchain make this not available to sign message there with new address.

Add this as well. Thanks!

How can I sign a message in the new blockchain? It seems I can't find a sign button there,I've only seen the verify one. It's not in the manage options.
By blockchain I assume you are referring to blockchain.info

To sign a message, go to the "Settings" tab on left, Click on "Addresses", Click on "More Options" in front of your required address, Choose "Sign Message" .

Does the new version allow signing messages? My last info is only the old wallet version does.

How do i actually proof this bitcointalk account is mine and not hacked? Do i sign a message with my btc address and write 'the account is mine?' Cant the hacker do the same aswell?

Only if they also compromised your bitcoins or have access to your private keys for a different reason.

So do i sign a message with my btc address and write 'that the account is mine?

Well you need to use an address that is associated with the account, e.g. on you staked at the 'stake my address' thread here[1].

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hello! This is buwaytress from bitcointalk.org and today is 27 March 2017. The time is 14:12 GMT.
I am also Sojourner on other sites and this is a signed message for the first BTC address I have ever owned.
I am putting a first signed message to firstly thank shorena for this thread and also to help protect this account should I ever lose it.

-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi there! I just wanted to check back here after posting my signed message and address above a month ago. Did I post in the wrong format or is this thread no longer usable? If that's so, is there a thread I could use to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure why I didnt post it, but the message verifies. I also quoted it now, so it should be just as good as if you had posted it in the stake address thread[1]

Very nice guide we have here!

Congratulations shorena for maintaining this thread updated.

Suggestion: don't forget to add the (very) old time player Blockexplorer.com as one option for verifying BTC signed msgs.

https://blockexplorer.com/messages/verify

Thanks for the suggestion Ive added it to the todo list.

Can you sign message one of those address? If you have then message one of the admins here tell them the reason with the signed message from meta and a signed message with this date.

Unfortunately , I didnt know that so I have never done before. Its not hack issue. I just want to change my password. I think, I've not any proof expect my registered email  Undecided
