Whoever posted that article on Reddit is a liar or a complete idiot. I use a kill-a-watt meter to measure actual power usage. This is from running it standalone as a secondary psu with just the vega 64 (primary psu powers mobo etc so my killawatt meter is just measuing nothing but the vega 64 and it's own internal usage which is less than 10 watts). Anywho, Vega 64 pulls over 350 watts from the wall. Dual mining over 400.  The idiot that posted the Reddit article must have been only looking at the gpuz measure and all the INTELLIGENT folks here understand that gpuz power reading is NOT THE TOTAL POWER DRAWN BY THE GPU CARD.  it's only a small fraction of it.  So, like I said, vega 64 pulls over 300 under normal mining and 400 dual mining. If idiot Reddit poster is running many GPU's then Idiot Reddit poster will probably burn his house down if he hasn't already by overloading the circuits since it's clear he doesn't understand real electrical power draws.

don't run your card on stock setting, you need heavy downvolt to achieve low power consumption. Don't call others idiots if it is you who cannot make right gpu tuning.

mine is doing 41.3 eth + 200 lbc @ 230w from the wall. Is it good?

Can you calculate your ROI? Everything between 7 and 9 months should be good.

Vega 64 - 43.5 MH/s is good
if not 130w but up to 200 is good too
opinion?

I think the results published are not true, it is not possible actually to obtain 130w with vega............ unless you reduce power limit to 30%

True Wink
Vega is for everyting, just not for mining.

why?
i see Vega 64 - 43.5 MH/s @ 130w

but wait confirmed
I think it's not true. 43MH/s is possible probably with tuned miner even more, but 130W maybe in GPU-Z... not at wall.

Vega is not good for mining. 2x RX 570 or 580 will beat it in hashrate even with price. HBM2 memory is as bad for mining as HBM.

To Hash or not to Hash, that's what the question

how much it drain ?
- a lot. I got VEGA64 to play with and out the wall, on stock settings, pc eats 300(min)-390W(peak) when mining various coins, wattage will change slightly depending on miner/algo it does.

Greetings,

I was sitting here this afternoon looking at buying another setup of components for my new build. But then I came over news about the AMD Vega that is around the corner.
Now I know that there isn't really much information about the Vega so far. But does anyone of you have any clue about how good the Vega will be ?

It will probably be quite expensive compared to the 5xx series and 4xx series. I don't really see it giving anything above 40Mh/s mining ethereum and nowhere below 200watt if that would be the case. That means it has to be about 300$ to be worth the wait?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be best to stick with the 570 for now ? or do you think I should wait untill they release the Vega ?

TL;DR  Is the vega worth the wait over the 5xx series ?

If you find that the income/return of that investment is more than your current setup, go for it.
I think you need to consider also the electrical bills and the operating cost of the new unit if it would be really profitable to upgrade.

finally managed to do 0.88v downvolt keeping 1100mhs hbm2.
41mhs eth + 200mhs lbry, card is pulling 250w from the wall.
vega 64 liquid

I have old cpu+mb rig and win7, on modern rigs speed is even better

Well the power consumption is going to be a GPU problem and likely always that way.... higher hashrate may be squeezed out of it with miner optimizations, but the Hash per watt rate is never going to be all that great. As long as the prices stay as high as they are it's not looking like a worthwhile mining purchase imo.

So it's a miner problem or gpu is just not that good ?

with Vega 64 or Vega56 Huh?

I posted before the Vega 56 has launched, therfore it's Vega 64.

how much it drain ?

It's thirsty, between 220 and 260W I'd say.

Anyone got a hashrate from that new AMD vega card?  Im interested to see if its worth it!

Thanks!

My results:

41 MH/s for Ethereum
1280 H/s for Monero
how much it drain ?

They hash nearly the same, that's why 64 is pointless for miners. Both around 32 MH/s at stock and up to 40 OC.
