Anarchy is not chaos.
Well, presstab, it's probably time to implement that shorter period code Cheesy Seems it's still locking up.

Unless something is bugged out, there's no reason for a hard fork.  We should give it more time.  Hard forks are srs business, plus, you have to wait for everyone to upgrade anyways.

I think we should wait for a bit and see if we get a block. If we don't then we can fork and it will be no problem. It is also an option to add PoW back to make sure we always have transactions processing.

So just know there is nothing to be worried about... if we are stuck then we will fork and be back up and running. But I don't think we are stuck. We just need some blocks to create good weight.

Also I am thinking about implementing NovaCoin Fast Stake immediately (doesn't require fork). I think it might enable us to hash faster.

Tell me more!

It always seemed to me there should be some way other than JUST solving blocks to get the chain retargeted if it's being slow.

Still, not as bad as over the weekend when it was 24+ between blocks

I'd rather just wait a day and see how the blockchain will move tomorrow. There should be lots of people with weight now today, I think we're just on a really hard block all day.

I don't think the clients netweight gets updated till the block is solved. It's probably HUGE

My stake weight - 18311, Network weight - 2807 Estimated time is 13 seconds.  Been that way for hours now with no stakes.

Just to be clear, can someone explain exactly how we stake the coins?
For example, my wallet shows the balance (100% of coins), with Stake at 0.00 and unconfirmed at 0.00

Usually with the wallets I've had before when staking took place, this was automatic - so am I missing something?

It's not locked either.....

I'll give it a shot.

1st off, it is automatic. If you are open, unlocked, connected, and in sync, it will happen.

However you can get a better idea of when it's going to stake by looking at the little tab at the bottom (mining symbol in the prerelease, I think a green arrow now, but I'm not at the right computer) and hover over it. It will show you estimated time to stake (wildly inaccurate on EVERY PoS coin) and your stake weight vs. network weight.

As I understand it, and presstab/others feel free to correct me, difficulty can't readjust until a block is found. Given how long it's taking, it will probably adjust rather severely this time 'round. Once it does, the next few blocks eligible for stake should go fairly quickly. If they go TOO quickly, there will be more long rounds. So it's a good idea to use coin control to aggregate your blocks in a staggered fashion. I was late to the game on this coin (as in I'd already purchased a bunch of TEK when I found out about it) so I've only got one block right now of seventyish coins. But those of you with large numbers, please consider staggering your blocks over a several day period. You'll initially lose some coin maturity doing this, but that should average out fairly quickly. There are two plus sides to doing this. One, you'll have something staking every day, and two, if the majority of us do this, the blockchain will move at a much steadier and predictable pace.

yes the overview page is showing correctly. You don't see any "Stake" until you have solved a POS block.
The coins in the block used to gain the reward (the block which is split in two with the reward added) show as "staking" for the time it takes for the network to confirm your reward block.

So basically you don't see that stake value all that often.

If you want to see the coins and weight mature and ready for POS work you need to look into coin control or hover over the hammers icon (lower right)

The coins move to the stake category after they have staked, not while they are hashing. They stay there until they get enough confirmations.

Yep last block is 5 hours ago... so don't be worried.

There are only few people with mature blocks hashing right now. As with PoW, there is a problem being solved, and a low amount of hashing means it will get solved slowly. This is what is happening the last 12 hours. The network stake weight is super low. I have one block that is mature right now but only has a weight of 505.  For PoS, the problem being solved (kernel) gets easier and easier to solve the more weight you have. So as we all have blocks that are coming online and starting to hash, we will solve it. It could take a few more hours but we should be able to get passed it and then see an avalanche.

so things should start going faster soon as our blocks are new now before maturing?

Things will pick up yes. We will get more blocks on the network and more people staking and more coins added to the supply as well.

I think the same thing happened yesterday, perhaps nobody has any coins ready for minting just yet!  I have a load i've just split up, I'm going to spread them out over 9 days,  Long job but hope its going to help the network!

well as long as there is a little green tick, i'm not getting concerned about it... my coins won't start staking til tomorrow anyway so... ho-hum patience is a vulgar issue which shouldn't be breached.  Cool
