I'm in notlist3d's camp. Interested, but it has to make sense from an ROI perspective.

Right now there just isn't enough info. But once the price and and other details are clear, hopefully it will make sense, because they look like fun.

Fun helps.  Quiet will help.  It could be an office miner.  And no will notice it as it will be quiet small and draw under 35 watts.

I'm interested. Following this thread before I decide to pull the trigger. I'll be lurking around.

For me, it should be a good device to initiate some friend to bitcoin.
Probably cheaper than a Antminer SX and more simple.

A small device for everyone!  Grin

I think most of us are in agreement it could be a fun miner.  Just all depends on the price.

Even though it is a mini, I have to be able to justify it in ROI math.  So guess we will see as time goes on.

Roi always tough nut to crack.  But I did not think my 4 s-3's would be earning money  1 year later.  My batch 1 in my low power spot are still good to go.

I thought network would be over 100 in diff by now and it is only at 51.

I just want to see a chance of it.   If I put in the price and it shows a year or something with no difficulty increase then it is a no for me personally.   If I see chance of ROI yes I do normally take a risk as I enjoy mining.

That is one thing about small miners in past a lot of time you pay more per hash then getting a bigger miner with more power.  A lot of time smaller hashing units were hard to justify.  Just a lot of parts for less chips in some cases.

I spliced something up like that to run my old R-Box.  So that will do I suppose, although hopefully they have something better than a dc plug.  I guess it all depends on price.

Fingers crossed they ship it with at least a power brick.  Even if you don't use it, its nice to have as much as possible included in the box.

yeah but the brick will cost in shipping and price.

I an not sure what they will do.  My guess is no brick.

I would attach mine to an atx psu.

Good point

FUN > ROI
I'd actually prefer not having them ship it with a brick.  If they do, you're bound to get just about the cheapest they could source, adds to shipping costs, saddles you with a power brick that you're probably not going to use (I have 18 laying around from various products), etc.  Not to mention the whole mains power plug concerns (reason for U3s not coming with that end).  Same applies to USB cables.  I have a whole box full of mini, micro, A and B USB cables of various reliability (some are power-only, some use too thin wires for the length and have peripherals drop whenever they need a bit of extra oomph) from products that include them when I've already got good quality ones.  For me, just the miner would be ideal.
( And I'm interested, of course, but I'm in Europe, so don't add to tally Smiley )

Depending on price, I'd buy 2 to 4 of them.  That is, if I can run them off a PSU, I don't want to deal with dodgy AC adapter power bricks.  Do you know how these things are powered?

No info yet, but worst case would be

pcie to dc.

Since they pull more then 35 watts a box I think  the above should work okay.

I used to run gridseed blades with these adapters  they were very good.

Best case would be a better connection then a dc plug.

'The right to privacy matters'
I got a few emails from avalon last night.    I should get a review unit soon maybe late July,  as for availability for sales say a 40 or 60 pack   early  or mid  August.  No word on pricing.

So xiangfu (avalon dev) told me pricing is not yet decided. As they are ramping up production.

So  I will check back here with any info the next few weeks.

With btc getting near 300 usd. It is hard to say what pricing will be. As gear prices do tend to track BTC price.

Good news that they got back to you finally.  Keep us posted.  I can't wait to hear about the review unit.

I sent a pm to you.
