It's not about handling the forum it's all about handling yourself on how you can follow the rules, contribute to the discussion, and growing while learning while you are here, as a newbie you need to read a lot and make it a habit to fully understand the essence of the discussion, there are so many redundant posts here, before posting, check if what you are going to post are already posted by other posters, try to make your posts unique, there is no such thing as perfect posters but everybody will appreciate your effort, that is why we have merit here.

The rules and regulations of bitcointalk community is not orderly hard to violent.
This are the three major precautions a newbies or beginner have to consider without been victimized.
To avoid spamming, plagiarism and do not involve in scamming it bring down reputation of member.
As a beginner you have to follow the steps of existing members in forum by observing the nature of the environment and method of posts,  and also read and ensure you comprehend topic before posting as instructed in beginners and help board.
Read comments frequently in order build yourself.

Yeah! You can go there sometimes for winding up once you feel exhausted with tons of crypto related topics. But remember that the majority of our focus should be in more productive discussions rather than threads like "does colleger really worth it?" etc Smiley.

Don't think that was the intention (winding up/passing time) behind the creation of that section, because theymos forsaw the need of having a board other discussion other than the already existing ones can be discussed in. Like we're currently seeing. Some very informative conversation are ongoing on the board, I know because I visit that board every week although not to contribute but review posts written in that section as a result of my job.

Using that example of yours, hope you do understand that very productive (informative) conversation can be discussed as indepth reasons can be given why going to college is necessary. Even in the so called productive boards you'll find countless worthless contributions ongoing so I guess they aren't any different. It's best you partake in conversation on board you're ok with as you build up yourself to join other in the rest board.

However, it is not true that all posts or threads in Off-topic are zero- or low-value, it depends. If the board is useless, it has not been there.
Don't get me wrong, I actually agree to you with regards to the significance of Off Topic here in our forum. What I'm pointing is, as a newbie, they should not give all their attention on that board. Because what I noticed recently is that many newbies come there for the purpose of increasing their activities which is all wrong. Yeah! You can go there sometimes for winding up once you feel exhausted with tons of crypto related topics. But remember that the majority of our focus should be in more productive discussions rather than threads like "does colleger really worth it?" etc Smiley.

Another advice I can share with you is to avoid Off Topic. It's not because it is a bad board or whatsoever. You came here to learn about crypto, right? Then deal with boards with related to it. Do not make most of your activities out of off topic discussions. Anyway, welcome to our forum. Have a nice journey.
It is not like that. I agree that Off-topic has less traffic than other boards because of:
  • Posts in this board are not counted for campaigns, bounties.
  • Merit sources rarely visit the board. Good posts in Off-topic have less prob to get merits (even they are good).

However, it is not true that all posts or threads in Off-topic are zero- or low-value, it depends. If the board is useless, it has not been there.
Off-topic - "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners"

[Guide] Virustotal scan guideline to detect viruses, trojans, malwares, worms. It is a thread of mine in Off-topic. Initially, it is in Beginers & Help but was moved to Off-topic by moderator. I can move it back to Beginners & Help but I don't (with my respect to moderator decision before).

Good day and welcome to our forum I hope you already visited the pinned post on our thread on beginners and help also you can visit the meta too for about the forum.
Indeed. You will not get lost here OP as long as you know how to read. Every board has their own pinned posts above. Read all of it and you will have a clue on what you want to do next. Also, don't make a new thread for generic questions as much as possible, it annoys many members especially the high ranked ones Wink.

Do not make most of your activities out of off topic discussions. Anyway, welcome to our forum. Have a nice journey.

It's a good thing that you've read the rules but, it tells better how you've understood it by how well you keep them.
To me, I prefer rather to see them as guidelines so, it takes a more friendly meaning and seems less like a dare with disastrous repercussion. Do ensure you learn at every step of the way and ask questions when confused.

It's always good to have a new member in the community,
Your very welcome.

Yes, you should be fine following all of the rules. As long as you don't break any of them, you're good to go.

With your third post, you're already into a bounty. Looks like you have already an idea on it, enjoy the forum and ask things that you don't know for clarification.

I know they already all the things you need to learn on our forum but why not take the start first on the very introduction to our forum which is the

Help button this gives you an introduction about the forum before you explore to the different board because they have different rules so why not explore the main board first so if you find some jargon came from the forum you can relate what it is.

Welcome to the forum, BTW your username sounds familiar to which it is one of the characters to a TV network night time series  here in our place title ang probinsyano.

Because you were new and still confused how this forum works reading the pinned threads above will help you a lot.  Please do not disregard information posted that is within the reach. What you need to know is that how you will not get banned in the forum. Usually ban users here were due to copy and paste posts. But still you need to read the rules and regulations pinned above the threads.

Try also to understand how rank and merit system works. Newbie with exceptional skill could easily rank up in the forum. Try to check in how to earn merits as pre requisites to rank up. If you really wanted to earn merits then carefully study some legend rank users in their most merited posts so that can get an inspiration while I am away at home.

Hello buddy, welcome to this forum. There is already a topic yesterday the same with this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.55173418 just read some useful replies here. Just explore yourself here and make yourself comfortable.
As a beginner of this forum, it is important for you yo read first the rules of the forum so you may avoid making mistakes and for you to know the things that are allowed here and not. You should understand every single rule if there is a rule that you can understand then feel free to ask it here.

I like the OP's quotation, asking things you don't know is really a good option, if you can't find any solution with those problems on your mind, asking it is the best thing to do. I am once a beginner before and asking a question makes me more familiar with this forum. I also posted some questions on my mind and also I ask my friend who is also here in this forum about the things that make me confuse. I also want to give some advice to you mate.

1. You may use the search engine if you want to know specific information, you may only search the keyword and there would be many topics that will pop up based on the typed keyword. It is really helpful whenever you want to create a topic to avoid redundancy.

2. All sections are good and will help you gain more knowledge about the crypto world but If you want to become more familiar with this forum then have time exploring with the beginners&help, there are so many useful topics that will help you to understand more the forum.

They have already provided the link you needed to visit. I will only give you an advice that you should learn first about the forum like the rank and requirements, forum rules and more. Many newbies do the same and look at them now, they learn so much after quite some time and be safe from people with bad intentions.

Okay, that's a good first step.
The next step is to consider what you can contribute to this forum, what you can personally offer to other members.
Do you have any experience, knowledge, skills, something valuable to others?
