I am talking about the key Satoshi supposedly passed on to Gavin after his meeting with the feds. The key that basically controls the Bitcoin protocol.
Sounds like some rumor mill bullshit to me.

Whatever man.

Whatever is right. What key? I don't think you understand "open source" software. Here is a link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source

Right....
So isn't there a key that is required to go to - what is it called? something like emergency mode - and it needs that key to activate?

This key: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/satoshi-dumped-bitcoin-right-after-gavin-announced-he-was-going-to-the-cia-113609

Fuck me I hate doing the homework for lazy people.
Do your own freaking homework.

I heard Satoshi originally wanted to pass the key on to Hal Finney but because of his unfortunate condition Satoshi decided to give it to Gavin instead.

That's the key you were talking about, right, S4VV4S?

I believe so yes.
God bless Hal's soul, he was a great person and contributed to many things that provided more freedom to the rest of us.

Is there any proof of this or how it "controls" the protocol? If it was true shouldn't we switch to a different coin now forked from Bitcoin?

Or is it more likely conspiracy shit since it's open source and the code is open to everyone?

I do not know if your stoned or stupid.....

Did you go through Gavin's posts - the entire history?

The real question is: Why Gavin? - to have the key to Bitcoin I mean....
It's just Gavin is probably the most recognized name they can think of, that's it.

I think Satoshis idea of remaining anonymous was the first concept behind BTC creation, so if he was ever to be found it will take away the anonymity part. Since that's not gonna happen, satoshi is never to be found. And Gavin !!! Hell No !!!

no real proof Gavin Andresen is Satoshi Nakamoto and maybe he"s one of user in here and watching this thread...

Satoshi is trying to collect the 9 central banker beasts to bring about an infinite tsukuyomi where Satoshi controls all of the money supply in the world. Gavin, is of course also known as Black Zetsu. And all the bitcoin fanboys you see saying things like "bitcoin will take over the world" is actually multi accounts of White Zetsu

Satoshi Nakamoto is probably someone still posting in here, under a moniker
"Satoshi Nakamoto" could be fifteen people on these boards, or zero.

What does it matter?  Bitcoin is not a company brand that needs a likeable figurehead. Bitcoin is mathematics, a platform protocol upon which to build. Even in development, there's no trust involved, no faith. Only transparent open-source, constantly evolving computer science.

Not again...
I think it's best if Satoshi remains forever Satoshi. Knowing his or her true identity will take away from the whole concept of Bitcoin.
The last time somebody made a fuss about finding Satoshi, they actually only ended up harming a family and a seriously ill fellow.

And no, I don't believ he is Satoshi. Even if he was, I don't know why, but I'd feel better persuading myself that his identity still remained anonymous.
It is definitely better to not know, if we had a one man behind the coin his life would be delved into for dirt. The coin would be tarnished or survive due to him, currencies shouldn't be tied to a single creator.
