Same here! I hodl some btc and eth but on the other hand market is really convenient to buy more alts recently. So, i’m open for new ideas. I wanna buy a few promising altcoin to hodl long-term.
My point exactly. I am hodling Cardano, EOS, and Ethereum and will keep holding them, while trying to look for more promising projects now. Some coins daily grow in price 50 to 262% like SOJ, USC, INPAY, MANNA. They don't cost a lot but grow fast.

That is a great strategy, with high volume, there is only low chance of getting listed and they are more visible in the eyes of the investorsso there potential to grow will increase due to hype as well. People will become educated in the future as crypto can easily be access and no government
controls it so it represents out freedom.

because it depends - eth is quite a thing for long term as well but! eos is good too. 
I think EOS looks very exciting right now. Very ambitious platform with huge potential and big community. One of my favorite alt coins.
In my own opinion if you are to invest your savings in some altcoins I will suggest that you try investing in the top rank coins such like ethereum, ripple, NEO, EOS, tron and monero because they have a very big potential to gave you more earning and it can even give you twice or even thrice earning in your investment.
It is worth investing in the most stylish altcoin,it is certainly Ethereum . Which you can fully trust your investment .
IOTA. It either becomes the biggest project ever or it will fail. Another way, the vision and technology make it interesting and exciting even without the price swings.
Take a few coins from the top ten and a few coins closer to the end of the 100th coinmarketcap. Distribute your deposit evenly between them.
If it is for a long term hold and till you become married, and you are 18 years old, I would recommend to stay in Bitcoin. But if you are interested in alts it is better to buy ADA, NEM, NEO, or even Ethereum - for today its price is low.

You can take a look at NEO, i think NEO's price is good to buy now, and it can recover a lot more. In this downtrend market, just DCA then wait and you will gain profit

These coins are best investment right now. The crypto market price is low so you go to the investment in the ETH and DEX, IOTA. I think these coins have a good platform and the technology. Now is a good time to buy. I would recommend that you invest in ETH, ADA, NEO, SC, XLM. These are very strong projects with a demanded product.
As you are a newbie, don't fall for hundreds of advise here. Try to stick to large cap coins usually the top 5 for long term hodl. They are less risky and are unlikely to die in short term. But if you want, try to research about some low cap coins and hodl a small part of a coin which shows some serious future potential.
As you started with Bitcoin is the best anyway. All other 9 Alts that follows Bitcoin at the CMC can also be invested upon in just about 2 or 3 to be on a safer side as a beginner with less experience. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
