I understand that most of us opted to refrain from selling especially during this time that bitcoin is declining, we want to gain from our investment hence selling is not an option. In order to become firm with our decision to hodl it is necessary to look for other ways to have an income to sustain our needs, this can prevent us from thinking of our investment and be tempted to sell.

However, dont forget to enjoy some of your earnings, dont let yourself suffer. Take profit at times because whats the point of holding if you're not going to enjoy some of it right? Have a goal and plan so you're not just holding without direction, you also have something in your mind that you also want to achieve.

You are not a wise man because none can lives without clothes and food even medicine. But you staying hungry but not sell your bitcoin. I can't support you guys, you should invest several times coins and trading according your investment . You can easily handle your lives and lifestyle.
Logically, how is it possible to hold back the investment while stay in hungry for the sake of profit, what happens is that you get sick and it becomes an additional cost. Well, basically, we really have to be smarter in managing our finances in our respective lives, accompanied by some efforts that are not too pushy.

I guess you also need to take into account your well being and your financial security rather than your investments. You can live like a poor college student while taking care of your investments, but be sure that you still have something left for your needs as well. That's being responsible, and really isn't a bad thing because what will you do with your investments if it's just going to your medical bills anyway? We can be thrift and practical with how much we spend for ourselves, but perhaps not to the point that we are depriving ourselves even the most basic necessities.

Staying hungry is not a wise choice I think.  Grin  As long as we aren't in a bad condition, it's not sensible to sell our investments of course. It's better to HODL then. Because on some day, Bitcoin price will skyrocket again and we can even get rich depending on our investment amounts.
In investing, we should really consider many things, at least our basic needs are met first, then set aside a fixed percentage of our salary to invest. so the necessities of today and the needs of the future are really well separated, thus there is no longer any term like the op made title.
I wonder, there are people who are willing to lose what they definitely have for something they "not necessarily get" in the future. seems to have to learn more about the basics and strategies of investing, so as not to be greedy and take a less profitable path.

I know how strong diamond hands are but did you somehow do a backup plan whenever bitcoin makes an unexpected crash? It isn't nice going all in and risking so much that it could affect your daily life. Invest what we can afford to lose and being hungry for the sake of assets isn't right at all. But if you really can sacrifice everything for the sake of your future, I strongly commend you!

there hasn't been any dips for weeks. price just keeps going to $32k and comes back up to $34k. this is not called "constant dip".
It can end at any moment and we'll fall to the 25 -30 range to stay there bouncing for another month or two. You never know.
The dips are getting lower that's for sure.

Quote
as for selling, you always want to sell before the drop (meaning in $50k range) not after the drop ended and inside the dip.
it is not a bad idea to sell some bitcoin but timing is everything. for example selling in $30k range makes no sense!

That's true especially when chain metrics show that it's mostly people who bought over 50 thousand who sold with heavy losses. Those who held at 20 thousand also held at 30 and 40.

I don't feel attached to my bitcoins and I would sell if it was a matter of going hungry or not paying my bills. As long as I have fiat money to pay for everything I'll keep spending fiat and holding bitcoin. I fully understand people who have to sell some coins because they are buying a house or need to pay for their child's education. Don't suffer because f your investment and don't let your family suffer. It's not worth it.

I like your attitude OP & others could certainly learn a thing or two by trying to replicate your desire. I have spent on credit cards & stuff like that over the years when I needed money instead of selling my bitcoin. Bitcoin is the best asset in the world, I am never selling mine at times like this when the market is bearish.

Lets see how OP will act if tomorrow, after a huge dip, the price of Bitcoin jumps to 100k. I'm not sure that he will resist temptation to sell and visit nearest fast food restaurant and buy whole menu.
And even if the price drops to 1k, his organism will turn on protection mode and will send signals to the brain, aiming him to sell and to buy food.
Different situation but would really be ending up on the same way since we  are just human and we need food to survive and its just dumb that you wont really make any sell
just because you are holding? If you do have other source then its not an issue but if this one is your last resort then its just nonsense if you wont make a sell.
We need food to live and those coins would be useless if you die then its better to spend those and better be full and not hungry. HEALTH IS WEALTH always.

I don't know if you're saying this from the heart but I won't dare to hold my Bitcoin while my stomach is hungry...

people work hard to fill their stomachs to stay full, many even pick up leftovers food just to fill their stomachs. I am also a BTC holder but when I have to be forced to exchange it to fiat then I will do that.
maybe he have other sources to get money  and to buy a food?  but he only dont want to use his btc no matter what .
well that was his decision but for us we dont mind spending some btc to full fill our needs and no need to find money somewhere else because btc is also  a money and its available on hand. btc fluctuates and the price could come down for us to buy again.

After all, buying food is a basic human need, without food humans can die. It is better to sell the Bitcoins that we have if we are hungry, unless we
have other sources of income to buy food, not selling the Bitcoins we have it's fine. Because for me buying food is an important thing that must be
fulfilled, if I really had to sell my Bitcoins to buy food, I will do it. I always buy Bitcoin with extra money, meaning that after all my needs are met,
and it turns out that there is still money left, then I will buy Bitcoin.

I was once adviced to sell my coin when I had an issue that needed money urgently but I objected it took me quite a long time to hodl and loosing them now isn't a healthy idea at all.

between your life and bitcoin, which is more important? if you die, you won't use bitcoin... so whenever you need money sell your bitcoin because the goal of investing in bitcoin is to increase our money and use it to buy things, it's no use hodl while the person needs it with real world money urgency

If I sell off my coin I might not be opportunied to buy back the coin at the exact rate I bought the previous one and had to come to a concrete decision of not selling my coin no matter the consequence.

 Shocked

This thought is dangerous, you're going to let people you love suffer from some health or financial problem because you can't use your bitcoin

I mean it is like life and death situation.
I am not sure why would one would still root for hodling that much if s/he is being buried with bills and papers. Sell your crypto, pay those liabilities then re earn your funds and hodl again once you're stable.

I am not such a radical Bitcoin hodler. And if I have any financial problems, I will sell all my crypto assets from the atomic and ownr wallets in one click.
If there would be no options left then for sure i would definitely do the same because money wont be nothing if you are already on your own grave.

Dont risk out your health just because you do believe on something on making big profits with your investment. It would be useless if you arent the ones will really be benefiting on it.

Why would be putting up yourself into hard situation if you do have money or something to use on?

That's exactly what the moonboys said back in 2018 when bitcoin dropped to 10k!
Everyone that "bought the dip" back then "at 50% discount" got to watch bitcoin drop from 10k to 6k and eventually down to 3k... Yeah, what a TERRIFIC bargain bitcoin was at 10k back then! People only lost about 65% of their investments compared to if they had simply waited until capitulation and price bottoming and stabilizing. Just saying

I will not sell.my bitcoins.at a price that is too cheap even if.the situation.is quite urgent, I will go to the.closest people to lend.me money if.I feel hungry.because the cheap prices.we sell.are really making us.lose and not get the slightest.profit, this is absolutely.impossible, so I prefer to hold it and will never sell.it before the price matches.what I want, especially the crypto world is one of the long-term businesses.that will allow us.to be more flexible.to hold a sales.process that we don't want to do

Actually it happened to me too where I was hesitant to sell or hold my coins. On the one hand I need income but on the other hand I believe that the price will rise again. I chose to keep my coins because if I sold them now I realize it would be a loss. So I choose to hold yes even if it's true if it takes a long time. I believe that patience will definitely pay off so I won't be in a hurry. I am aware that the crypto market is up and down and it can happen at any time so we really have to be prepared for that. Now I don't feel balanced yesterday because I feel I have found the answer, which is to be patient to wait for the results to rise again.

It's what everyone who keeps holding thinks. They wouldn't sell until its price is high and when the price hits $50k, they aim to go higher like $65k and then aim again for higher ATH. And then hold still while the price is $31k. It's not the ideal thing to do but it's happening. I guess one should see how prices go up and if the indicators say it can't sustain to move up. They should learn to let go and sell.

Staying hungry is not good. I hope he can find a job that will still keep his coins with him while he can support himself.
