I am not sure whether India should include Shardul Thakur in the playing XI. Pakistan batsmen are in great form (especially Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed), and Shardul has the habit of being expensive. I would rather go with the experienced Mohammed Shami, who is more likely to get wickets early on. In case Shardul needs to be included, then he can replace the useless Mohammed Siraj. Never expected Bangladesh to play so badly against Srilanka. Pathirana I guess was exceptionally good yesterday. The fielding of Srilankan players were spot on. They were able to suffocate Bongs batter from the first over. 164 is not an ideal target for a ODI and that too in a tournament. Srilankan batters were not that good too, it was evident they were struggling on that pitch. It took them 39 overs and 5 wickets to chase such a small target.
Well.. Sri Lanka no longer have Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene or Kumar Sangakkara in their batting lineup. They are dependent on players like Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis. And actually the Bangladeshis bowled well yesterday. Shakib al Hasan returned figures of 10-2-29-2. If other spinners such as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahedi Hasan had given a bit more support from the other end, then the outcome would have been much closer. Bangladesh on the toss and elected to bat first
It's disappointing to see Bangladesh performance in yesterday match after deciding to bat first. Their early wicket loss puts them under pressure. If Bangladesh can improve their batting performance and reach a score of 250 or more, they might still have a some chance to win against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's bowling performance seems to be strong. Players like C. Asalanka and S. Samarawickrama have been impressive with the bat and bowlers like M. Pathirana and M.
