Unfortunately most of the IEO only gave us promises no use case yet, so any turn around can still happen but investors have lost so much and have learnt their lessons.
Even with ICO, that's normal, they raise funds to implement their idea so if you want to be profitable in short term, you should go with the exchange that knows how to hype their investors and that is Binance.

There's a big difference in short term and long term investment and therefore it needs different approach, we know that IEO projects are for long term, in the early stage they only show potential but we will only see if that potential is real when they the project are already operating according to their purpose. Also, I believe most investors here are for short term as they easily panic when the price dump.

I can only imagine just 10 projects in 2018/2019 ICOs get a product in the market with good use case that can be available in our immediate community. The percentage of failure of ICOs was so high that no one dares any project, I believe 10% success could still cause FOMO in the space. Unfortunately most of the IEO only gave us promises no use case yet, so any turn around can still happen but investors have lost so much and have learnt their lessons.

but ICO this year was more successful than the previous year,

I would like to see facts or data that would back your statement because AFAIK, this year's ICO is bad and slowly losing the popularity.
What made this market now looks better compared to last year was because of the IEO, and just like when ICO started to be popular, ETH has risen and now we are seeing it on BNB because it's been dominating the IEO this year in terms of success, no wonder Binance will also not loss its popularity and remains keeping the number 1 spot in exchange ranking.

I heard that the ICO MiricaleTELE was very successful and the project works well. but recently I found out that the project’s CEO has left the telegram chats and token holders cannot withsraw dividends.

Miracle Tele has so many issues that I read here in the forum. Just like what you just mentioned the CEO abandoned their community
without giving any updates in the project. Then, I also found out that there are some member here made a topic about Miracle tele were the
title was Miracle tele is scam. And aside fro, miracle bitgoals became successful too but failed to distribute the allocation budget for the bounty participants, were their telegram channel was already abandoned too.

There are still many such projects. As a hunter, I can say that as before, 90% do not bring profit to the hunter and the projects are closed. And successful projects try to cheat and refuse to pay. Or pay with coins that can not be used.
That success your are talking is only temporary, they are still scammers and they have no future in crypto.

Our basis in crypto on why we invest in a certain project is because they have a reputation and next only is the potential, so if they will cheat the bounty hunters, it's like they are destroying their reputation, don't believe in this project because they are just out to scam people and who knows the amount raise is not really the real amount raise, it could be a fake one.

Indeed, many projects whose prices fall below the ICO price after listing on the market and this is not profitable for bounty hunters because the rewards are very small. I agree that the success of their ICO is temporary because they should invest in a project that should be long-term and that prices that fall below the ICO price have a psychological effect on their investors.

What happened to the ICO phenomenem of 2017? The craze which swept the crypto world and brought crypto based investment on a mass scale never seen before has subsided.

ICOs are still happening but with less fanfare and there does not seem to be any investor appetite probably because the amount of scams hugely outnumbering legitimate projects.

Add to that the number of bounty participants being scammed by the ICO project operators it stands to reason they are not promoting ICOs which has also contributed to the lack of ICO success.

IEOs have started to kick in and that too has made ICOs less appealing.

In your opinion are there any ICOs in 2019 that have been notable successes?

In your opinion are there any ICOs in 2019 that have been notable failures?

In your opinion are there any ICOs in 2019 that have been notable scams?

How would you sum up ICOs in 2019 so far?

ICO which has been a big success in my opinion is BCNEX. more than $ 28 million in ICO bcnex funds were raised. there are also some that fail, such as Stellero. so far I haven't found an ICO scam in 2019. during 2019 the ICO for me is quite dynamic in its movements and also many are still interested.

Yes,3 days ago i hear this project become scam project. I dont know this only FUD or what but as i know CEO has left the group because FUD flooded and cant control anymore. So many member account also frozen or suspended.
Good ICO projects this year have become noticeably less, the total number of new projects has also sharply decreased. At the same time, in my opinion, the number of fraudulent projects has decreased, if you look at the ratio of working and fraudulent.
As for the Miracle Tele project, it is too early to say that this project is fraudulent. It has a really working product to date and during this year brought to its participants much more profit than other successful projects. Now the team has taken unpopular measures and is drastically cutting costs, including the promised passive income. These measures are generally correct, after which the project will be able to work normally.

Most of all ICOs in 2019 is FAILED, many people lost their money because investing in ICO that's why people don't want to touch ICO anymore in 2019.
People now more interest in investing their money in IEOs because they can double up their money. Also, many new projects now prefers to perform IEO than ICO to attract an investor to invest in their project...

ICO in 2019 is not much different from the previous year 2018 where there were not enough enthusiasts.
There is a big changes because the start of 2018 was still good, ICO can still raise a good amount of money in ICO, but this year the performance of ICO are dropping.

There's a research on that, and I guess this one is a good read for us.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/research-ico-market-down-almost-100-from-a-year-ago-raised-40-million-in-q1-2019

it seems when the system does not change. people won't be interested in investing in ico. the reason is also because of the rampant fraud that happened to ico so people no longer want to invest in ico. there must be further oversight by the ICO
ICO continues to drop until it will eventually be loss in the market because it's gonna be IEO who are fully taking over.

It was bad in 2018 and turn up worse this 2019, I would not even recommend to invest on ICO right now, unless you have done a lot of research and you have proven that the coin is really worth investing, millons of dollars are wasted from these failed and scam ICO's.

The existing ICO in this year is not good to compare in 2017 because many projects have failed to reach their goals. Although some say that IEO can replace the ICO, IEO needs time to boom like ICO. I am not sure if there is an ICO which can succeed in this year because if we check on the project, many of them still running and trying to pass every phase they had so maybe we need to give them time to complete the stage. We don't know which project can be a success in this year or next year. And if the project was very good, I think the project will survive and will come out as a good project, and it will release on the market too.

we cannot judge that this year is a failed year for ICO or is a good year for ICO. because if you look at 2017, it's clearly seen the difference from the conditions of a successful ICO project. This year may be bad for the ICO project, because of the lack of investor confidence, but there are some ICOs that are still successful, that means, this year the ICO is not dead and can still be trusted.
In addition, the number of fake and scam projects made ICO's image worse. After the BTC boom in 2017, cryptocurrency is increasingly popular, many new investors who lack understanding of the cryptocurrency ecosystem are joining, and they are prey to fraudsters. It makes things worse. However, there are still successful ICOs.

Even though IEO is quite famous this time, but it does generate same hype like the ICO or how successful it was before. IEO it seems like the exchanges are only generating income on this type of concept.

The biggest handicap of course is that an IEO is open to users of that particular exchange whereas ICOs are open for anybody to invest

I didn't hear about any successful ICO this year. But a lot of us heard about successful IEOs on Binance, like Matic, BitTorrent, Harmony or Fetch.AI. It is because Binance choose projects very carefully, if they list a scam, they will loose a reputation. But how can exchange like Exmarket loose a good reputation?  Grin

I would say that generally the ico trend has converted into IEO trend in 2019 although there are still traditional icos running as well but very few have raised decent amount of funds this year so only IEOs seem to be the successful fund raisers this years.

That is interesting to note that ICOs are still running even though IEOs are increasing by numbers (it seems)

Does anybody have any statistics to show the ICO/IEO ratio?

In 2017, there was a quick and strong increase in the price of Bitcoin along with it, many other popular altcoins also began to grow, which led to a frantic influx of investors into the crypto market, which began to invest money in all old coins as well as new ones, which caused the ICO boom in 2017.
Further, the price of the main coins began to fall, which led to the outflow of investments from the crypto market. Therefore, ICO is now in decline.

Scammers also do not add the popularity of ICO, but it seems to me that they do not have a decisive effect.
