Maybe you approach him in a wrong way just tell him that its like a social media where he can discuss certain things about cryptocurrency.

Also maybe before first you introduce this forum to him maybe try to see first if he is interested with crypto since if not your teaching or advices will just turn into waste because at the end of the day he will just say that crypto or this forum is a scam again. Select those people who show interest about crypto since they are the one who will listen to you and follow you to learn more about it.

Although the trust system isn't perfect, still it's one of the ways to identify scammers as those previously caught are always red trusted and we have users keeping a watch for this types of users to mark them immediately they're reported. Another thing you should note is that, never fully trust anyone you meet on the forum especially those that reached out to you first, always treat them as scammers until proven innocent. Don't click on any suspicious links been DMed to you as we have reports of phishing links been sent to users in DM. The forum doesn't moderate scams so you're responsible for your own safety.

Just consider the forum as a place to get information on cryptocurency and then discuss. When you do such then you'll most likely reduced the chances of you getting scammed as you avoid getting investment recommendations outside Bitcoin from the forum. Instead of been afraid of scammers on the forum, I think what's most important on the forum is the intake of bad advises as everybody seems to be a professional with their advice. Always filter information you come across over here to avoid been misinformed.

Even advance investors are at loss on how to trace these scammers you just have to check FTX and Luna they are doing well until everything turns worse, the best thing to develop is checking the signs, scammers are good at impersonation they know how to look good in the eyes of their victims, so don't look on how they present themselves but on the sign that will give them away, like asking you money right away or your wallet private keys, these are just warning signs.

Uh... this is a forum, OP, just like any other forum you could come across like Reddit. Not sure what you're telling to your friend about the "beneficiaries" and stuff.

Identifying scams is a bit of a broad topic, OP. Is this any other project like you see in the altcoin section or is it from encountering a scammer user in here? Please specify, OP. Welcome to the forum, OP since you're still a beginner.

through reading and learning. this forum is riddled with scammers if you stay long enough and read, you'll see/find threads that were posted by members here that talk about scammers and how to spot them, there are even some threads that were posted by members where you can take quizzes about recognizing types of scams and how to avoid them.

Honestly, it's hard to tell the Cryptocurrency world is full of surprises and diverse characters and personalities because scammers are good at impersonating people and personalities, we have so many two-faced people in the industry because of the absence of KYC and verification, even known personalities and popular and considered legit platforms are guilty of scamming people.
Scammers are everywhere they can be developers, they can be members of this forum or they can be admins of platforms, the best way not to fall on these scammers is to moderate your greed and always be on alert for signs, you need to know what these signs are.

Let's make it clear your friend thinks cryptocurrencies are scams or many people out there in bitcointalk are scammers?

Mostly every cryptocurrency is getting launched new can be considered as scam or not really worth to make investment because sooner or later the price will reach zero where as Bitcoin is different and just show the all time price graph to him and he will not say that Bitcoin is scam anymore.

How experienced is your friend, so that you can listen to his opinion? People tend to call what they don't understand a scam. If you are not an independent person, you can always rely on the opinion of anyone, but if you remain here, then let your friend remain in his opinion; do not prevent him from falling into prejudice. Over time, if you can achieve any positive results, he will change his mind and will run after you with requests for advice on this forum.

What the function of Google if you can't identification of scammer, right now have many kinds of scammer running their site project actually in cryptocurrency, despite your friend is wrong or not you can check all about their offering in the google and looking there about how trusted with your friend side recommended.

If he asks for your private keys or wallet passphrase that is a clear sign of a scammer, there are many signs of scammers if you want to see how scammers work and how they implement their schemes better check the scam accusations.

the first thing you need to recognize is when you get an offer that is very good, where you will get something for much less money than it is really worth, or you are promised an enormous profit, consider that it is definitely a scam. be aware that you are not so special that a complete stranger on the Internet gives you money and there is no free money.
whatever deal you're doing, always look for someone with reliable references. also, stay away from someone who has many bad feedbacks.

You don't have to self research and find scammers. Forum has a trust and flag system that can help newbies to easily recognize scammers.

If you see a members with too many negative trust, negative trust feedback and active flags, it's not good.

If your friend said this forum is a scam, what did he see to make that kind of conclusion when he is not registered here or is he here? Try and find out why he has that mindset about this forum. It can be because of the way you told him the type of money he will make as a member of this forum. And since it is hard to find any other site that allows you make money on it, it is very hard to believe such exists. I do not blame your friend.

I don't know how he identified the forum in the scam category or not. but while he has no interest in being on the forum, I guess it will be hard for you to explain to him.
the forum has never cheated anyone here. they come here for information and discussion. if what is meant is several scammer projects on the forum, yes they exist. and some people who care, always do an investigation to reduce the risk.

Fraudsters are everywhere, even here in bitcointalk, where there have been a few instances of scamming, but very few compared to other social media platforms and even in person, where strangers are attempting to deceive victims who are typically not knowledgeable about crypto currencies. Scams, on the other hand, would be rare if only new members were familiar with bitcointalk practices. New members make up the majority of bitcointalk scam victims. Long-time members always use escrows when dealing with new accounts and members without reputations.

There’s a lot of scammer everywhere whenever there’s an interaction P2P even on social media. The easiest way to spot that a user is a scammer is when they PM you first without your consent or permission. You can rely on the trust rating score here to know whether a user is reputable or not. Always look for a green trust member and read their feedback so that you will have a less chance of being scam. Always use an escrow when dealing with someone.

Remember that you will not be scammed if you will not send first your money without having an assurance to secure the item that you are dealing.Trusted Escrow is a must.

Let me start by asking you this: How do you identify scammers in real life?
