It depends, if bitcoin is banned by most countries in the world which renders the currency unreliable and no longer sufficient for profit then there's probably an altcoin that will take up the throne of cryptocurrencies, but if cryptocurrencies as a whole are banned then yes, altcoins will die alongside bitcoin. Judging from the current affairs even if the chance for either of those scenarios happening is slim to none, if one has to be more probable it'd be the first one, bitcoin being banned and an altcoin taking up the vacant spot.

Bitcoin is a very popular crypto coin today, we know that Bitcoin will be very expensive in the future but I imagine if Bitcoin die, whether there will be hope for the future of altcoin? because most altcoin exchanges are to bitcoins
your opinion is highly appreciated. Smiley

It might depend on the reason why Bitcoin can die. In case when the death is due to total ban of Bitcoin as done by all governments or regimes then there is a possibility that Bitcoin death can also mean the death of altcoins. Now, if the reason can be other than that or it is within Bitcoin like losing the appeal from the market then there is a possibility that another coin can rise up to take the vacuum of leadership.

There are so many great altcoins out there better than bitcoin. I don't think if bitcoin dies all the rest of altcoins will die too.
Some altcoins have better security, anonymity, and transaction speed than bitcoin as well as cheaper transactions too.

Well if bitcoin dies , another bitcoin will take it's place because it's all about the blockchain technology that lies behind the bitcoin. But it's hard to say that bitcoin will die and very hard to predict if it will ever happen. Untill then enjoy this times.

I do not think that bitcoin will die if it dies, it is important why she died, but for shan they have very good projects among the sub coins, I do not think they will die if they lose value

It is a very hypothetical scenario for bitcoin to die, it will need a massive crackdown from governments and will require everyone to dump bitcoins and dismantle the infrastructure which is very unlikely to happen. Even if that happens, the blockchain technology itself will continue to thrive and applied to newer use case which will continue to result in altcoins being used.  And Ether is best suited to replace bitcoin as the currency of choice given Ethereum's wider application.

Well I think no even BTC is the first crypocurrency . If that happened I guess ETH will replace BTC as rank 1 in all market.

If bitcoin die then altcoin will not die because they have their own blockchain and they have their own market and most of the coins right now are under the ethereum coin and that is like a substitution for bitcoin so if the bitcoin dies then ethereum will replace bitcoin and become the king of all the cryptocurrencies.

I can not imagine a situation where Bitcoins or Altcoins have fallen. In my opinion it is already so widespread that now it can only be better. The course is constantly growing and watching the market situation, I think there is no basis for it to fall. Of course, no one can predict what will be in a year or two, but for the moment in my opinion it is not possible.

Yes we all know bitcoin is the base setter for crypto world and bitcoin was first coin in market to accept by people, but they give the technology and idea how world can use and grow this trend now if bitcoin collapse or dies it will effect market but other good coins will also get chance to move and perform more reliably in market and it is not end of the crypto currency

I think it's impossible, the more likely it is the altcoin that first dies, but if there is a possibility of bitcoin die, then altcoin will rise, but it will only be temporary, altcoin will also die after the dead bitcoin

There is no way bitcoin will die. Tell me one valid reason for that. I have been watching this thread since long and people are being manipulating the reasons why bitcoin could die or not. The technical analysis says that the market cap is not easy to catch so no altcoin can overtake it. Neither bitcoin can be put out of the chart.
I do not think that bitcoin dies mean that it is disappear or something like that. What OP wants to say here is that bitcoin may lose the value and it may cost less than $1 per bitcoin. There are many ways for this to happen. In the future, maybe there will be a type of coin which is stronger than bitcoin or maybe, bitcoin can be hacked if there is an extremely smart hacker existing

I think not, although bitcoin and altcoin are like the same organisms but different species if ever bitcoin dies as long as other altcoins have investors or users but that mostlikely won't happen unless all bitcoins stopped circulating and online trading becomes obsolete. Altcoins do not rely solely on bitcoins so it wouldn't be a problem, I actually am investing to eth since it is primarily used by campaigns which I think gives it the 2nd best option for investment.

I think if bitcoin dies, alternativ coins (all the crypto currency market) dies. alt coins are still not independant from the main crypto.

In my own opinion I think all the other cryptos would drop with the bitcoin because seems to be like the leader of all the other cryptos, so if there is a crash of bitcoin other altcoins are going to follow the trend to crash because people would start pulling out their investments from cryptos and start investing in other stuff and since cryptos are based on the law of demand and supply there's going to be a crash

I cant think of a way that bitcoin will die but if it will die the all coins will become wary as i just thought. And down it goes all coin will go down or even all the cryptoworl. But it will never happen, bitcoin will never die , it will exist even in the black market.

No. Altcoin will take role bitcoin as parent cryptocurrency, because there are some altcoins that have near-bitcoin popularity. So, cryptocurrency continue to exist.

I believe yes. bitcoin is the mother and all the others are children. and those children are not strong enough to survive yet. so it still needs time.

How can Bitcoin die while the rest of the coins won't?
I don't see it happening unless we will have other Bitcoin like coin that will take over the market.

why would bitcoin die ?? even if there is a complete ban on cryptocurrencies by the government there would be still use for it on the black market. I don't see a scenario where bitcoin dies completely
