so let's assume bitcoin has imploded. there's still an alt market and you're still committed to the concept of crypto.

where do you put your money after that? what other projects do you truly believe in long term? i don't mean the pursuit of quick dollars, i mean something that you're willing to sit on for many years with enough integrity and potential to really go places.

I'll go to what are in the top 5,I always believe that we should not put all your eggs in one basket,so I'll go for the number two spot for a huge chunks of my funds then equally distributed to the third spot to the fourth spot.

If bitcoin dies, There are many altcoins available in the market. There are best ones and there are some other that is slowly climbing the market. Like Eth, Clock, or LTC are the best ones right now and some also like ConCoin, XRB and other new alt coins that are coming. So if Bitcoin dies there are many choices you have you can invest in some new alt coins in the market. You just to have choose wisely but coin coin rules.  Smiley Smiley

Bitcoin would never die and many altcoins today are dependent only on bitcoins as their buyers/sellers are only active in the BTC field. I would choose ETH, DASH, EDG and DTB as of now as they have a great potential to reach 0.1-0.2 BTC if there are enough traders on exchanges and their starting value is much higher than what BTC was when it was just launched.

LTC, without a doubt.
Yes, I also trust litecoin for now. But I would also be willing to go for ethereum as second best after bitcoin.
Nevertheless, my choice will depend more on the pay rates. In case there will appear nice signature campaigns paying not in ethereum or litecoin but still in some stable coin easy to sell, I'll choose that one, because cryptos are mostly the way of earning for me now.

LTC, without a doubt.

yeah. i honestly think that's the only one that would meet my criteria for the long haul. i don't know if that's because i'd still be pining for a bitcoin and that's the closest equivalent.

LTC only if we already managed to get segwit enabled, otherwise we will stumble upon the same problems.

Also if bitcoin dies it means i dont have any money to invest in any alts and I would be back to 0 so I would just be done with crypto and with life in general.

So you have to jump ship before ship sinks.

I guess I would diversify in XMR, ETH and LTC. What else is there?

there can be many reasons and most of them lead to a very simple answer: "I would choose none of the altcoins" and the reason is even simpler. because if the biggest thing out there with the most adoption, the longest time being around, with the best and biggest developers working on it such as Satoshi and Hal Finney,... and a lot more, if this fails i wouldn't even consider an altcoin which is a copy of bitcoin in 90% of cases and they don't even have half the development team!

maybe the sheer weight of vested interests and warring camps is exactly what might end up screwing everything up. there's probably at most a few hundred or low thousands of individuals who have control over this thing and at are each other's throats.

on the other side there's a few million people who want something that simply works and has a secure and bright future. i don't believe they have infinite patience for turf wars. forgetting price and market action for a moment, coins such as litecoin look like a much more peaceful and constructive scene right now.

of course all of bitcoin's problems could transfer elsewhere but there's time for other coins to take what's been learnt and apply it before all the assholes descend. segwit on litecoin would be a prime example of this.

this is a hypothetical situation that has been asked at least a dozen times with a dozen topics. and they all lack one thing in their logic "Why did bitcoin die in that hypothetical situation?"

its not going to happen..if it does it probably drags all the alts with it to the grave ...ZEC for me though..

If Bitcoin would die, it would only happen if Cryptocurrencies will ever be declared illegal in most countries worldwide. People will get VERY scared and sell all their holdings as soon as possible, driving the price to the bottom of the bowl. I don't see this happening though.

If bitcoin was dead , I would consider XRP, ETH or DASH but XRP will be the most interesting coin for me . I believe that XRP will become a digital currency after Bitcoin and it can be a good payment method online in the future.

XRP ? I hope you're kidding. XRP can't even be a public digital currency because it is centralized and it's controlled by a private company. No one in their right mind would think of accepting XRP as a public digital currency, because Ripple is like a central bank, they can create coins out of thin air and dump on market, as they often do. It's like saying i would go for KFC coin because.. reasons

i would go with the fork that would come if bitcoin die, basically bitcoin can't die, because if it die like you said, they make it an altcoin based on bitcoin, with new market and value and everything begin from zero again, but if this is not possible because there is no interest anymore and this is the only reason why an altcoin may die, i could go with HLM new spreadcoin project, i love that project look very promising to me

LTC, without a doubt.
I've rarely owned litecoin, but I'll have to second this.  Also if doge and Dash were still around in such a scenario, I'd use either one or both.  They're both useful as currencies because of low fees and quick confirmation times and it's a shame that the markets for each are so stunted.

Such a situation won't arise and if that happens too  no altcoin grow same as bitcoin. Lot and lots of altcoins are found, people prefer different coins based on the requirement. This will diverse the user profiles causing the altcoins to be listed next to bitcoin.

I think it will depend on the reasons for the implosion if the implosion was caused by the current debate and another alt had activated segwit then that will be an interesting choice but if bitcoin imploded by other more obscure reasons then I don’t know if I will remain in crypto.

Ethereum 100%

72Million premine, unlimited supply.. This is not a good store of value and 100% would not replace Bitcoin.

I would choose ethereum  too,but I might not be that active unlike here in bitcoin, I might not get enough interest learning new things other than in bitcoin that I enjoyed now,its features and supported apps.
