From your story it seems that your problem is not selecting the right coins, it seems that you were able to perform a good analysis and you selected good coins it seems that in what you really need to work out is in your ability to tune out the messages of other people and to trust in your instincts, unfortunately that only comes from experiences like the one you went through.

People will need a reason to buy that amount of coins so there must be big news around the corner. Take a look at SONM which has just released details on setting up a masternode. This will give a good reason buy and hold large amounts of coin so this is going to rise, probably 3x as required

I think with the time you took to carry out research about several coin, you should have made good decisions about coins that are likely to x3 and you should be able to stand by you decision. You should allow people suggest for you again so as not to make another regretful mistake. You can select possible coin from the coinmarketcap that you are convinced will satisfy your want because asking people will only confuse you as many people have different coin suggestion.

We don't need coins name. We just need a bullish trend. We need that the market goes up. Many coins and token will easily go X3. Look at the chart of top 100 coins on marketcap. Nearly all of them lost more than 60% since the last bullish run.

You can try to buy some coins for cheap when the bounty hunters are selling the coins that they have received after the ICO has finished. You will be able to find a lot of this coins on ForkDelta or Idex.

First and foremost you should never listen to other people when investing. You should do your own research and go with what you think is best for you. This way you know what you're getting into before investing your hard earned money. If you're setting your goal at 3x, you should get out when it reaches that goal which you won't if you keep listening to other people and don't do your own research.

but really give a look on a few different projects

zilliqua => super fast blockchain. still not in top 20
zebi => indian blockchain,... google a little bit,... you will like it (sounds quite secure for me => and a lot of potential to grow!!!!!)
wanchain => super cheap at the moment,... if market moving up,... will pump extremly.
nebulas,... google a little bit,... more a longrun coin!!! but its super cheap to go in now.
... zencash / zoin,... bot super high quality privat coins,... privat coins,... good blockchains,... and good infrastrucutre are the projects for this year,... so they both should help you as well.

but always do your own research!!!

Everyone who wants 3x, i suggest to buy EOS. EOS now is $13, not expensive, and i think this coin has potential to reach 40.

Well you picked great coins ONT for example this is real gem and why you sold it?
You're did a great job, just don't sell when price go down or when you'll see panic sell. If you're believe to that coin you should be patient and wait for some time and 3x this is not much. Even EOS made 3x for one month and this is huge coin , 5th place on market, so some coins that have potential from 30-200 places can make 3x easily, so did your research as you did before and it would be all right.
