Nuclear war broke out, I think the earth is not safe, Mars should be the safest. Of course, you're going to immigrate to mars.

Why did you chose mars ? Why not moon or maybe even Venus ? Jupiter could be nice in this time of year. Mars is booring, too much sand for my taste xD .

Jupiter emits lots of fatal radiation. It's orbit and moons are not habitable, even inside a heavily protected space station or a ship. Venus is too close to the Sun having a similar kind of radiation issue. But these kind of "escaping the Earth" scenarios are pure nonsense anyway. Even the ISS would become an orbiting grave to the astronauts when all the supply infrastructure on Earth would be destroyed and remaining governments using remaining resources trying to maintain order and find food supplies for their elites.

I certainly wouldn't like to go and try my luck surviving in Antarctica. It's far away, very cold and without much of civilization. I don't want to live without access to electricity at least. And surely it is better if the Internet is still on Smiley
Kiribati sounds fine. Island, warm and sunny, parlamentary republic and ex-colony of the UK. I think this is the best solution. Or just to stay where you are and try to survive somehow.

After a nuclear war, would the electromagnetic storm that will bring down the electricity. This means that the Internet will not work and all your bitcoins will turn into radioactive ash.

Storage of Bitcoins in paper wallets and USB sticks require no internet or electricity. Also, the electricity supply can be restored in a matter of hours, using solar panels and diesel-powered electric generators. The restoration of internet may take a few weeks.

The future of nuclear war, the earth's ozone layer disappeared, the Earth Sky cloudless drought, no rain, the most precious resources for the survival of all water, water may be the most safe

Given this, I guess it's true that somewhere there are plenty of water would be the most ideal to go to right after a Nuclear War. Just think about it as a society restart, a rebirth. And just like any other civilizations that started from the earliest of times - they did opt to start somewhere where there is plenty of potable water.

I want to disappoint you. After a nuclear war, would the electromagnetic storm that will bring down the electricity. This means that the Internet will not work and all your bitcoins will turn into radioactive ash.

Nope.  Because the Hearndresen bloat-to-big-corp-only attack failed and there are more than '5 copies' of the blockchain world-wide, Bitcoin will eventually be revived.  Anyone who keeps their secret keys secret and not let them be destroyed will eventually be able to re-capture value.  Possibly at vastly inflated rates.  But yes, it won't happen for a number of years and a Bitcoiner will have to have more primitive options (and a lot of luck) to keep them alive long enough to realize the stored value.

The 'fallout' (litterally and figuratively) from most realistic types of nuclear conflict would, in my estimation, be somewhere between Balthazar's 'no big deal' and the old standard fearmongering 'end of life on the planet'.  Much closer to Balthazar's.  Lots and lots of these people remain among the living:

My suggestion: try to be in an environment you can deal with in a post-war world.  Much of that is going to be sociological, so for most people that would mean 'shelter in place' and be mentally prepared to come out fighting.

Part of that environment I would say would be to be prepared too. Not only for something as extreme as a nuclear war, but have an emergency kit in case anything broke out. Food, water, medicine, medical supplies, tools, weapons, and of course a wallet of bitcoin.  Grin

Mars is a nice place if you're trying to die.
lmao
Actually, I think that the issue is not very relevant, because nuclear war is not so easy to start. What is the point to start it? Each state leader has money, children and grandchildren. Who would want to lose.

Who knows. It's a very curious question to ask though.

Mars is a nice place if you're trying to die. Radiation background on mars is much higher that that would be on the earth after nuclear war.

I wouldnt be so sure of that. As far as i know there still exist around 16.000 nukes as of today.
That would be probably enough to terraform mars if we just explode them their.

Norway is actually storing thousands of plant seeds etc in Svalbard for that reason.
Though it will take a long time before those seeds will grow.

Most of the grains can be harvested after 90 to 120 days. Some of the vegetables take even less time to mature. So until then, the bunker inhabitants will have to survive on frozen and canned food.

Depends what kind of nuclear war and how many nukes involved.

The safest place is as far away from military base as possible since those will be attacked first, and as far away from large cities as well with > 1million population.

Also you might not want to be in the capital, nor in an economically or politically important city.

You probably want to be near mountains, especially those that have cave systems, or on a remote island on the ocean.

Any other place is toast, and probably 90% of the population will perish in such scenario.

If nuclear war broke out where's the safest place on Earth?

<< Nuclear tensions appear to be mounting again amidst political upheaval. So if the event of nuclear war, where should you head? >>

I don't think there would be a safe place if ever a nuclear war breaks out because if that happens it will cause a nuclear winter that will block the sunlight from entering the atmosphere for years thus all the plants on earth will die and soon the domino effect will take place from animals going extinct because of lack of food and then all humanity will fall as well.

In a bunker underground for a little while of course  Grin
I would like to know what you're going to the bunker to eat? It seems to me that in the event of a nuclear war will be two exits. The first is to die immediately and without pain, and the second is a long time to suffer and die from hunger and disease.

You need to produce food for your own consumption. In the bunker, you need to store seeds of various grains, vegetables and fruits. And more importantly, you might require millions of gallons of water (which is even more important than food). And also, you need to have artificial lighting. Else, the crops will not grow inside the bunker.
