Still bitcoin. IOTA is great and all but I do not really believe in that project all too well.

I think it is a bit more complex and requires a bit more challenges to overcome before it can be worth what it is already priced at. However bitcoin is incredibly cheap for what it is and how much it is known so if I could buy $10k more into bitcoin I totally would. I think if given the option I would prefer ethereum right now though. I know question is bitcoin vs iota but ethereum blows both of them out of the water for me.

It is both known a lot like bitcoin and also provides a lot more solutions. I think ethereum at 130 dollars is insanely cheap and even makes losses for miners right now which it can't sustain for a long time so it will have to go back up one day.

Well, obviously Bitcoin(BTC). I don't even know what IOTA is being used for; I'm pretty sure IOTA is still purely speculation.

Iota is using a new technique. It is called DAG, so u dont even need to save the whole Blockchain.
Also Iota has 0 transaction fees so it is no need to have miners, it is more ecological.
I don't know if you are looking for a debate or is just looking for an opinion to which coin is better for you but it seems like you made your choice already with what you have written. If you personally think that IOTA will outgrow Bitcoin in terms of price increase then you should go for it, mjglqw just expressed on what he will choose on both of them.

Alright. I'm just going to clarify more. I'm really not throwing shade at IOTA at all. I chose Bitcoin simply because I personally think that Bitcoin has a higher chance of gaining success in the long term due to Bitcoin still being the better coin in the "currency" category. Whereas with IOTA, IOTA has a decent number of close competitors in the space. IOTA could possibly be more profitable in the long run, but I'm playing it safe and sticking with BTC.
Same goes with mjglqw on here. We do know the profitability chances on IOTA but when it comes on being somehow secured for long term then there no doubt. BTC all the way there not questions asked
specially now the price had fallen low which actually the best time to accumulate cheap bitcoins. If OP loves IOTA then no one can force him out on which one he would tend to invest yet we do have
difference choices.

Who needs an altcoin when there is Bitcoin? Bitcoin has been here for a decade and is continued to develop by several developers around the world. So, my first choice would be Bitcoin if i have to buy for $10k today.

Bitcoin obviously, no need to think about other coins if there are only two coins to choose like what you are asking for. Even if you ask btc vs eth, I would still prefer to buy bitcoin.
Probably you are supporter or investor of IOTA, that's why you create this vote. Surely, most people will answer bitcoin as the most preferable coin to invest. But you do not need to worry, if you really believe that IOTA will be on of the greatest crypto so go for it.

If you want to purchase crypto at the moment, better wait until it reach lowest bottom at least until December 2018 and it will continue bouncing in year 2019.

Be patient and Profit will come upon you !

If i have to choose between two, i would choose bitcoin, as i believe it has got more potential in future. By the way, if i had had 10k USD, then i would have bought many other coins, simply not sticking to one coin.

.... which one you would like to choose if u only have the choice between BTC and IOTA?

To answer your question, you need to think the following way

What will be the price of bitcoin in 5 years?

What will be the price of Iota in 5 years?

in a few years many altcoins will disappear because it does not have much use

You are right, all of these are both profitable, then you don't need for you to choose with these two cryptos as where you to invest. To have a playing safe, I rather choose Bitcoin since it is now a leading currency compared to altcoins, and this IOTA has belonged to altcoins which also swinging also when the price of Bitcoin fluctuated. It is obvious that many people here choose that Bitcoin compares to IOTA.

Would be Bitcoin as always since it would really depends on the price of Bitcoin of the other altcoins. And also Bitcoin would still make a lot of % in the future.

Also Iota has 0 transaction fees so it is no need to have miners, it is more ecological.

I think people would rather prefer a trusted coin to put their money on for guarantee purposes. No doubt that iota could be a good coin but I will still invest on bitcoin.

Bitcoin, it's an easy decision. It's proven over 10 years, IOTA is new and hasn't delivered much. IOTA might be more likely to get you to a million but it's also a lot more likely to leave you with nothing. Bitcoin is the safe and sensible choice.

You can hardly go wrong accumulating Bitcoin especially if you're getting it at a good bargain. So for me, faced with the choice of investing in the two coins, it's definitely BTC over IOTA without batting an eye. This is largely due to the economics of BTC (demand and supply)

The fees and the features are not the first things to see. You can never go wrong with bitcoin for the simple reason that It's truly decentralized, and the development has been active for 10 years now, we had crashs, FUD, services being hacked etc. that's not something that can be said about a lot of coins.

From what I've read about IOTA also, It's not really meant to be a type of payment, It's about the internet of things. In other words, there will be always less demand compared to Bitcoin which is meant to replace fiat currencies.
