This was a bad change.
In regards to tracking pixels - if you don't think it's trustworthy, don't click it!

The thing is: YOU DON'T NEED TO CLICK THEM. Just opening the page is enough.

I can offer hosting and bandwidth for an image proxy. Get me the script and I'll install it on one of my servers.

I have a script if you want to use it, it is all in php and probably needs some space to hold some images, but also a mysql server and cron.

I try to put it on github tonight or some time after I test it.

As said: 10TB/month available.

I can even get a domain for it(already have a static IP).

damn it, dudes. forget about BCB's tracking-pixel, will you?  He did it. I warned you. Enough. If you don't want to get "caught" browsing bitcointalk.org, get out of here.

As said, I offer hosting and BW for an image proxy. I'll set the cache to 60 seconds, as not to bother pricing scripts(and similar) very much. I have around 10TB/month unused to donate. I may be underestimating the needed bandwidth, in which case I'll thank you for straightening me up.

That's what I mean, you don't click a post if you don't trust it.
Also, one's IP is not a dangerous thing.
How can you know you don't trust a thread without opening it?
BCB can just show up in random (trusted) threads and pixel-track the readers just by posting

This is the internet.  Use a proxy or tor if you don't want to be identified.  ip's are pretty benign.  You can't really tell who anyone is by just and IP but you can tell when there is one user using multiple Nicks.  And there is a LOT of that on this forum.

Buy the way, this is my only nick and I don't mask my ip.
I agree with that, I was just pointing out that his sentence was senseless

Unless you've already hidden someone's posts because you don't trust them (very few distrusted BCB before his use of the pixel), then you will get tracked merely by scrolling through what you thought was a benign topic.

people already mention "price-converter" pictures to be broken now Sad. guess there is no way to control caching options like expire time on images.weserv.nl?

another option may to have something like a whitelist which allows hosts to show images without being proxied?

I guess that'll be a problem for those "price-converters" showing the actual bitcoin-price for something that's pegged to USD or EUR.
Yup, live price tickers broken:

You brought this all upon us, BCB.

Just taking advantage of info available by using a public website.

Good to see theymos tightening up the forum's privacy and security (for better or worse!)

To improve privacy and eliminate mixed content warnings, images in posts and PMs are now proxied through images.weserv.nl. Tell me if this broke anything.

Only my animated GIFs. Mongo no happy! At least my head is still spinnin'.
