Faucets are a waste of time. You can barely earn 1 cent a day from them. I think they are good for new people to test the bitcoin client and see how stuff works.
I don't understand how faucets could be bad for bitcoin.

Thanks to faucets, I started getting interested with Bitcoin because they allowed for me to experience it on first person, with actual transactions and for free. Now I have more than 1 BTC and faucets made me stick around.

People focus into what they can earn hour at faucets being a low reward now, well if and when bitcoin achieves 1000dollars or above those small satoshis will be a great reward, even now,its free only takes your time, and with a rotator you can easy reach 0.005btc and above it.

I started in Bitcoin thru faucets. It sparked an interest in me, so now I am digging deeper into it. Maybe without faucet, I still do not know how to earn, keep, trade, invest, gamble using bitcoin. Maybe, it looks bad now because the price of bitcoin is high. But you can look at faucets as free tastes in the supermarkets. Without free tastes new products are hard to introduce. Faucets are introduction to new users. This is just my opinion.

Yup! your right even if you are not a newbie faucets are very useful, in adding small amount of bitcoin to your wallet to for 1 BTC is very important, and faucets are free, your right without free people wouldn't have interest in bitcoin there are a possibility that faucets will get some interest to others, like PTC's did to me back when I don't have a clue what is bitcoin.

Yes faucets are more important for newbies to understand the core basics of bitcoin in their early days.
Faucets was the my first satoshi earning resources. I guess bitcoin ecosystem only has invented this kind of free giveaway namely faucets.

More and more faucets are coming out daily.  It is actually somewhat plausible to earn some coin from them.  I am guessing you could make around 6 dollars an hour at the moment.  I spent 5 minutes the other day and was able to earn 15 cents.  Which comes out to roughly $1.80 per hour, which is not good.  I was just browsing and wasn't maximizing my time either so I am guessing you can earn a lot more than what I was doing.

There are not many faucets paying over 1000 Satoshi and this is mostly once a day. Most offers somewhre around 200 Satoshi. The problem with quite large percentage of faucets is it is not easy enought to claim the Bitcoins, you sometimes have to figure it out and definitively not for newcommer - like you have to fill the captcha and then on some link a popup windows shows up with advertisements and you have to click there link with ">"

Anyway, you could make realistically 0.0003 BTC hourly, about 10 cents Smiley

When i started on bitcoins, it was a nice system to join without any investment, you can try how this ecosystem works before invest your money on it. I thing its important to new users.

Faucets give you chance to test how the bitcoin ecosystem works with out spending any money from your hand. Faucet are there from the beginning of bitcoin itself. To distribute free bitcoin for the are more important to bring awareness to people.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.

BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.

in my opinion faucets are good for bigger public awareness of BTC. i hope they will still exist in 2016.

Faucets are making some good money with new companies of ads,and even adsense is moving a lot money into it,how many did google earned with the faucets features of bitcoin or any other crypto coin, they are making much more money since faucets becamed real, soo forget faucets will stand and the reward should decrease on the next years as the price should increase.

What makes the most believe in become rich at faucets is the prize some of them offering 0.30 or above it with a lucky number, the thing is showed to all who play that those can happen with a small% to achive, faucets will lead and stand for a long time as bitcoin stands.

Bitcoins have become a famous international currency ,
which are easy and convenient to use. Faucets are a
method for earning btc. But, they've turned to be useless
and bad..here's why
(1) They pay very very very low-- They pay 100 satoshis
at a time, which is hell low..
(2) Time consuming-- They consume too much of your
time and pay you too low..It's simple waste of time.
(3) Some websites are fraud-- Some websites make you
click some ads for their own benefit and pay you nothing,
hence making you a fool

Faucets have certainly ups and downs you are just being one sided, yes faucets really pay low, what do you want faucets will pay you 1 bitcoin? that is unfair for them because they actually paying you free BTC by doing easy capcha, clicks, etc..

yes faucets are very time consuming but for a newbie who's new to bitcoin will gain free satoshi and can use a wallets purpose is heaven for them, you are not gonna stick to only faucets when you are learning in this forum you will learn how to gain more bitcoin like trading, campaign, mining and more!

Yes there are certain faucets that is fraud I know this but not all of them, you can check some good thread in this forum they put lots of usable faucets there and sometimes a lot is giving double satoshi for you, I my self are still using faucets.

With those small amount of coin from faucet, you can play with send or receive to familiar your self with those functions of bitcoin. That is very valuable.
Possibly not right now. Faucets have relatively low payout rate and it takes a few days to even cover the transaction fees assuming you do take a break and sleep. Furthermore, most have a high withdrawal threshold which can increase the time. Some uses online wallet API to transfer coins offchain too.
Who would spend days doing faucets? Their time is not worth much or if you say no sleep or break to do them, then their life is not worth more then $1 an hour?
Sure time is money but put your time into something worth more then a fraction of a penny per click.

If you have a good traffic on your website , it can help you to get a affiliate income ( passive income ) and earn a good income too.
