Did you find gold border in hobby box or ??. Is there any rhyme or reason where to find cards?
Gold minis are not in hobby, just retail... (not sure which retail as there are 3 or 4 different retail types)

So? can you give us a ballpark (lol) on the gold bordered mini cards?  Huh

I'd like to know this as well

Hey Frank, they seem to be in short print and I would feel comfortable saying around 500 or about.  The thing is they come out of the retail side and the dealers are over on the hobby side cracking open the hobby cases.  But, still not many have shown up so that is about the run I would give it.

Sounds good.  Thank you.

I see the gold border is now going for $1K on ebay.  Hasn't sold, last I checked  Shocked

As many are new to sports cards I highly recommend as these prices keep climbing that before you spend 10's of thousands for a single card, you make sure the card has been authenticated.  There have been many counterfeit cards floated around over many decades .  Unless you have been in this industry you can't tell the difference, but usually the ink is a little off along with other signs but, only to an experience professional.  Happy treasure hunting  Smiley

Indeed, well said.

I have a few gold borders that I'm sending to PSA this week.  Hoping to score PSA 10's  Grin  One can dream

Odds in getting a 1/1 wood card is 1 in 2709 hobby packs
2709 * 300 =

Aren't there only 6 base cards (+ 1 mini + 1 full-size insert like world talent/beaches/fantasy goldmine/etc) in the hobby packs? (EDIT: Technically, fewer than 6, when you consider the number of relics, autos, etc.)

That would make 16,254 of each base card, right?

Second question: Are all base cards printed in equal amounts? I'd wonder if some of the more anticipated cards (like rookies) might be printed in lower quantities.

Regards,
Chris
yes, I misread the pack, thought it said 9 , but it is 8 (with 2 inserts)
Cards 301-350 are inserted 1:2 packs
So is it really
1:2709 x 350(1/1s) = 948,150 packs
948,150 / 2 = 474,075     (every 2 packs have 11 base cards + 1 SP)
474,075 x 11 = 5,214,825 (total base cards)
5,214,825 / 300 = 17,382
so it looks like 17000+ for just the hobby boxes

Odds in getting a 1/1 wood card is 1 in 2709 hobby packs
There are 7 base cards per pack
2709 x 7 = 18963
So there is approximately 19000 of each card just in hobby

Does anyone know how many of the base white background crypto cards are being printed?

The gentleman that is a Blowout Cards user says several thousand, but i'm not sure of his source.

"Regular Ginter (the white cards) have an unknown print run (probably a few thousand). The full sized white cards will be by far the most common. "

Not sure on that card but, they are rookie cards and thin out over time.  It is tough to pull much out of the retail packs.   But, a big part of the fun is opening the packs.  There are only 2 cases left at Topps now. Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

We use to trade our cards with each other to help each other build our sets.  If someone didn't have a card to trade and we had doubles of it, we gave them the card.  Would really be great to see that happen here on the forum.  Just a wish Smiley Smiley Smiley

Good idea.  Any one looking for cards pm me.  Just looking to recoup my cost.  I'm surpised the card folks show pic of them holding cards with bare hand.  We in the coin community would never do that.

Agreed.  double sleeved (thin plastic and then top loader) as soon as the card is pulled.

Expect the same with these cards, the rare ones.  And only put the cards in special cases with free floating corners

Went to Target today and found x12 of the value packs ($5.99 ea) and x60 of the regular packs ($2.99 ea).  Was so excited to have found them locally that I bought them all.

Nothing rare, sadly; several minis, but none crypto.

Did find two of the base white background crypto cards, so that was cool.

I remember I traded on the schoolyard for a 1st Edition Charizard Holo.  I traded a 1st Edition Mewtwo along with $50 (which was a lot for me as a kid!)

Sadly, back in 2008, I tried to sell them all at a garage sale; couldn't even get $20 for an entire binder of cards.

Sooo I trashed 'em.

Little did I know their value would return again one day.

Now the PSA 10 is going for $150K and the PSA 9 is $7K lol
